PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE CONNECTING MIDISPORT ANNIVERSARY EDITION TO
YOUR COMPUTER:
M-Audio recommends installing the MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition drivers on your PC
or Macintosh computer for access to all advanced MIDISPORT features. Drivers can be
downloaded from http://www.m-audio.com. However, if you do not have Internet access,
you can use MIDISPORT as a class-compliant device as described in the section below.
The MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition User Guide contains driver installation and MIDI studio
setup instructions, as well as a detailed feature description. Open the electronic User Guide
from the included CD-ROM or from the M-Audio website.
Class-compliant operation:
MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition can be used in Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac
OS X without installing the M-Audio drivers by simply connecting to an available USB port
on your computer. However, please be advised that using MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition
without installing the MIDISPORT drivers may not give you full access to the interface’s
advanced features.
To use MIDISPORT as a class-compliant device:
1. Connect MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition to an available USB port on your computer
using the supplied USB cable.
2. Connect the MIDI output port of your MIDI device (controller, synthesizer, drum
machine, etc.) to one of the MIDI input ports of MIDISPORT.
3. Connect one of the MIDI output ports of MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition to the MIDI
input port of your MIDI device (keyboard, synthesizer, sound module, etc.)
4. Configure your MIDI capable music software to use MIDISPORT Anniversary Edition
for incoming and outgoing MIDI messages. Some applications will also require you to
select a specific MIDI input and output port for each track used within the software
(please check your software’s documentation for instructions).
