EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY
1. Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since
open door operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave
energy. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety in-
terlocks.
2. Do not place any object between the oven front face and the
door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing sur-
faces.
3. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly impor-
tant that the oven door close properly and that there is no dam-
age to the
a. Door (bent),
b. Hinges and latches (broken or loosened),
c. Door seals and sealing surfaces.
4. The oven should not be adjusted or repaired by anyone except
properly qualified service personnel.
important safety instructions

TRIC SHOCK, FIRE, AND INJURY TO PERSONS OR
EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY:

5
• To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity:
a. Do not overcook food. Carefully attend appliance when paper,
plastic, or other combustible materials are placed inside the
oven to facilitate cooking.
b. Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before placing
bag in oven.
c. If materials inside the oven should ignite, keep oven door
closed, turn oven off, and disconnect the power cord or shut off
power at the fuse or circuit breaker panel.
d. Do not use the cavity for storage purposes. Do not leave paper
products, cooking utensils or food in the cavity when not in use.
• Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea can be overheated beyond
the boiling point without appearing to be boiling due to surface
tension of the liquid. Visible bubbling or boiling when the con-
tainer is removed from the microwave oven is not always present.
THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING
OVER WHEN A SPOON OR OTHER UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE
LIQUID. To reduce the risk of injury to persons:
1. Do not overheat the liquid.
2. Stir the liquid both before and halfway through heating it.
3. Do not use straight-sided containers with narrow necks.
4. After heating, allow the container to stand in the microwave
oven for a short time before removing the container.
5. Use extreme care when inserting a spoon or other utensil into
the container.
• Do not heat oil or fat for deep-frying. It is difficult to control the
temperature of oil in microwave oven.
• Pierce foods with heavy skins such as potatoes, whole squash,
apples and chestnuts before cooking.
• The contents of feeding bottles and baby jars should be stirred or
shaken and the temperature should be checked before serving in
order to avoid burns.
• Cooking utensils may become hot because of heat transferred
from the heated food. Potholders may be needed to handle the
utensil.

installation instructions
1. Make sure that all the packing materials are removed from the in-
side of the door.
2. Check the oven for any damage, such as misaligned or bent door,
damaged door seals and sealing surface, broken or loose door
hinges and latches and dents inside the cavity or on the door. If
there is any damage, do not operate the oven but contact quali-
fied service personnel.
3. This microwave oven must be placed on a flat, stable surface to
hold its weight and the heaviest food likely to be cooked in the
oven.
4. Do not place the oven where heat, moisture, or high humidity are
generated, or near combustible materials.
5. For correct operation, the oven must have sufficient airflow. Al-
low 20 cm of space above the oven, 10 cm at back and 5 cm at
both sides. Do not cover or block any openings on the appliance.
Do not remove feet on which oven stands.
6. The appliance shall be only used on a countertop over 3 feet (91.4
cm) above the floor.
7. Do not operate the oven without glass tray and roller support in
their proper positions.
8. Make sure that the power supply cord is undamaged and does
not run under the oven or over any hot or sharp surface.
9. The socket must be readily accessible so that it can be easily un-
plugged in an emergency.
grounding instructions
This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short
circuit, grounding reduces risk of electric shock by providing an es-
cape wire for the electric current.
WARNING: IMPROPER USE OF THE GROUNDING
PLUG CAN RESULT IN A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK.
Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding in-
structions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to
whether the appliance is properly grounded, and either:
1. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire exten-
sion cord that has a 3-blade grounding plug and a 3-slot recep-
tacle that will accept the plug on the appliance. The marked rat-
ing of the extension cord shall be equal to or greater than the
electrical rating of the appliance, or
2. Do not use an extension cord. If the power supply cord is too
short, have a qualified electrician or serviceman install an outlet
near the appliance.

8
electrical requirements
It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only the oven be
provided. The oven is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug. It
must be plugged into a wall receptacle that is properly installed and
grounded.
power supply cord
A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting
from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer cord sets or extension cords are available and may be used if
care is exercised in their use.
If long cord or extension cord is used:
a) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appli-
ance.
b) The extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and
The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over
the counter top or table top where it can be pulled on by children
or tripped over unintentionally.
radio or TV interference
Should there be any interference caused by the microwave oven to
your radio or TV, check that the microwave oven is on a different cir-
cuit, relocated the radio or TV as far away from the oven as feasible
or check position and signal of receiving antenna.
Notes:
• If you have any questions about the grounding or electrical in-
structions, consult a qualified electrician or service person.
• Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer can accept any liability
for damage to the oven or personal injury resulting from failure to
observe the electrical connection procedures.

9
utensils guide
This section lists which utensils can be used in the microwave, which
ones have limited use for short periods, and which ones should not
be used in the microwave.
recommended
Thermometers — Use only those labeled "Microwave Safe" and
follow all directions. Check the food in several places. Conventional
thermometers may be used on microwave food once the food has
been removed from the oven.
Wax paper — Use as a cover to prevent spattering.
Paper plates and cups — Use for short-term heating at low tem-
peratures. Do not use recycled paper, which may contain metal and
could ignite.
Glass and glass-ceramic bowls and dishes — Use for heating or
cooking.
Paper towels and napkins — Use for short-term heating and cov-
ering; these absorb excess moisture and prevent spattering. Do not
use recycled paper towels, which may contain metal and could ig-
nite.
Microwaveable plastic wrap — Use to retain steam. Leave a small
opening for some steam to escape and avoid placing it directly on
the food.
Microwave browning dish — Use to brown the exterior of small
items such as steaks, chops, or pancakes. Follow the directions pro-
vided with your browning dish.
limited use
Ceramic, porcelain, and stoneware— Use these if they are la-
beled «Microwave Safe». If they are not labeled, test them to make
sure they can be used safely.
Aluminum foil — Use narrow strips of foil to prevent overcooking
of exposed areas. Using too much foil can damage your oven, so be
careful. You should keep distance of 1 inch (2.54 cm) between alu-
minum foil and cavity.
Plastic — Use only if labeled "Microwave Safe". Other plastics can
melt.

not recommended
Note: Should you wish to check if a dish is safe for microwaving,
place the empty dish in the oven and microwave on HIGH for 30 sec-
onds. A dish which becomes very hot should not be used.
Metal utensils — These can damage your oven. Remove all metal
before cooking.
Plastic storage and food containers — Containers such as marga-
rine tubs can melt in the microwave.
Styrofoam plates and cups — These can melt and leave an un-
healthy residue on food.
Paper bags — These are a fire hazard, except for popcorn bags that
are designed for microwave use.
Glass jars and bottles — Regular glass is too thin to be used in a
microwave. It can shatter and cause damage and injury.
cooking techniques
Your microwave makes cooking easier than conventional cooking,
provided you keep these considerations in mind:
Stirring
Stir foods such as casseroles and vegetables while cooking to distrib-
ute heat evenly. Food at the outside of the dish absorbs more en-
ergy and heats more quickly, so stir from the outside to the center.
The oven will turn off when you open the door to stir your food.
Shielding
Shield food with narrow strips of aluminum foil to prevent over-
cooking. Areas that need shielding include poultry wing tips, the
ends of poultry legs, and corners of square baking dishes. Use only
small amounts of aluminum foil. Larger amounts can damage your
oven.
Arrangement
Arrange unevenly shaped foods, such as chicken pieces or chops,
with the thicker, meatier parts toward the outside of the turntable
where they receive more microwave energy. To prevent overcook-
ing, place delicate areas, such as asparagus tips, toward the center
of the turntable.
Turning
Turn foods over midway through cooking to expose all parts to mi-
crowave energy. This is especially important with large foods such as
roasts.

11
If the oven fails to operate:
1. Check to ensure that the oven is plugged in securely. If it is not,
remove the plug from the outlet, wait 10 seconds, and plug it in
again securely.
2. Check for a blown circuit fuse or a tripped main circuit breaker. If
these seem to be operating properly, test the outlet with another
appliance.
3. Check to ensure that the control panel is programmed correctly
and the timer is set.
4. Check to ensure that the door is securely closed engaging the
door safety lock system. Otherwise, the microwave energy will not
flow into the oven.
before you call for service
IF NONE OF THE ABOVE RECTIFIES THE SITUATION, THEN CONTACT
A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN. DO NOT TRY TO ADJUST OR REPAIR THE
OVEN YOURSELF.
Adding moisture
Microwave energy is attracted to water molecules. Food that is un-
even in moisture content should be covered or allowed to stand so
that the heat disperses evenly. Add a small amount of water to dry
food to help it cook.
Standing
Foods cooked in the microwave build up internal heat and continue
to cook for a few minutes after heating stops. Let foods stand to
complete cooking, especially foods such as cakes and whole veg-
etables. Roasts need this time to complete cooking in the center
without overcooking the outer areas. All liquids, such as soup or hot
chocolate, should be shaken or stirred when cooking is complete.
Let liquids stand a moment before serving. When heating baby
food, stir well at removal and test the temperature before serving.
