Electrical Safety
1. Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any

2. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and

Personal Safety

switch is in the o󰀨-position before connecting
to power source and/or battery pack, picking
up or carrying the tool.Carryingpowertoolswith
yourngerontheswitchorenergisingpowertools
that have the switch on invites accidents.
4. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning the power tool on.Awrenchorakeyleft
attached to a rotating part of the power tool may
resultinpersonalinjury.
5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and

6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or

Power tool use and care
1. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application.Thecorrect
powertoolwilldothejobbetterandsaferatthe
rate for which it was designed.
2. Do not use the power tool if the switch does
not turn it on and o󰀨.Anypowertoolthatcannot
becontrolledwiththeswitchisdangerousand
mustberepaired.
3. Disconnect the plug from the power source
and/or the battery pack from the power tool
before making any adjustments, changing
accessories, or storing power tools. Such pre-
ventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting
the power tool accidentally.
4. Store idle power tools out of the reach of chil-
dren and do not allow persons unfamiliar with
the power tool or these instructions to operate
the power tool.Powertoolsaredangerousinthe
hands of untrained users.
5. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment
or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts
and any other condition that may a󰀨ect the
power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the
power tool repaired before use. Many accidents

6. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges
arelesslikelytobindandareeasiertocontrol.
7. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits

Service
1. Have your power tool serviced by a qualied
repair person using only identical replacement
parts.Thiswillensurethatthesafetyofthepower
tool is maintained.
2. Follow instruction for lubricating and chang-
ing accessories.
3. Keep handles dry, clean and free from oil and
grease.
Hedge Trimmer Safety Warnings
1. Keep all parts of the body away from the cut-
ter blade. Do not remove cut material or hold
material to be cut when blades are moving.
Make sure the switch is o󰀨 when clearing
jammed material.Amomentofinattentionwhile
operating the hedge trimmer may result in serious
personalinjury.
2. Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with
the cutter blade stopped. When transporting or
storing the hedge trimmer always t the cut-
ting device cover.Properhandlingofthehedge
trimmerwillreducepossiblepersonalinjuryfrom
thecutterblades.
3. Hold the power tool by insulated gripping
surfaces only, because the cutter blade may
contact hidden wiring or its own cord.Cutter
bladescontactinga“live”wiremaymakeexposed
metalpartsofthepowertool“live”andcouldgive
the operator an electric shock.
4. DANGER - Keep hands away from blade.
Contactwithbladewillresultinseriouspersonal
injury.
5. Keep cable away from cutting area.During
operationthecablemaybehiddeninshrubsand
canbeaccidentallycutbytheblade.
6. Do not use the hedge trimmer in the rain or in
wet or very damp conditions.Theelectricmotor
is not waterproof.
7. First-time users should have an experienced
hedge trimmer user show them how to use the
trimmer.
8. The hedge trimmer must not be used by
children or young persons under 18 years of
age.Youngpersonsover16yearsofagemaybe
exempted from this restriction if they are undergo-
ing training under the supervision of an expert.
9. Use the hedge trimmer only if you are in good
physical condition. If you are tired, your attention
willbereduced.Beespeciallycarefulattheendof
aworkingday.Performallworkcalmlyandcare-
fully.Theuserisresponsibleforalldamagesto
third parties.
10. Never use the trimmer when under the inu-
ence of alcohol, drugs or medication.
11. Check to make sure that the voltage and fre-
quency of the power supply correspond to the
specications given on the identication plate.
Werecommendtheuseofaresidual-current-op-
eratedcircuitbreaker(ground-faultcircuitinter-
rupter)withatrippingcurrentof30mAorless,or
an earth leakage current protector.

12. Work gloves of stout leather are part of the
basic equipment of the hedge trimmer and
must always be worn when working with it.
Also wear sturdy shoes with anti-skid soles.
13. Before starting work, check to make sure that
the trimmer is in good and safe working order.
Ensure guards are tted properly. Check cable
for damage before starting work and replace
if necessary. The hedge trimmer must not be
used unless fully assembled.
14. Keep cable away from the cutting area. Always
work in such a way that the extension power
cord is behind you.
15. Remove plug from the mains immediately if
cable is damaged or cut.
16. Make sure you have a secure footing before
starting operation.
17. Hold the tool rmly when using the tool.
18. Do not operate the tool at no-load
unnecessarily.
19. Immediately switch o󰀨 the motor and unplug
the mains plug if the cutter should come into
contact with a fence or other hard object.
Check the cutter for damage, and if damaged,
repair immediately.
20. Before checking the cutter, taking care of
faults, or removing material caught in the cut-
ter, always switch o󰀨 the trimmer and unplug
the mains plug.
21. Switch o󰀨 the trimmer and disconnect and
secure the mains plug before doing any main-
tenance work.
22. When moving the hedge trimmer to another
location, including during work, always unplug
the mains plug and put the blade cover on the
cutter blades. Never carry or transport the
trimmer with the cutter running. Never grasp
the cutter with your hands.
23. Clean the hedge trimmer and especially the
cutter after use, and before putting the trimmer
into storage for extended periods. Lightly oil
the cutter and put on the cover.Thecoversup-
pliedwiththeunitcanbehungonthewall,pro-
viding a safe and practical way to store the hedge
trimmer.
24. Store the hedge trimmer with the cover on, in
a dry room. Keep it out of reach of children.
Never store the trimmer outdoors.
25. Never point the shear blades to yourself or
others.
26. If the blades stop moving due to the stuck of
foreign objects between the blades during
operation, switch o󰀨 the tool and unplug
the mains plug, and then remove the foreign
objects using tools such as pliers. Removing
theforeignobjectsbyhandmaycauseaninjury
forthereasonthatthebladesmaymoveinreac-
tiontoremovingtheforeignobjects.
27. Avoid dangerous environment. Don't use the
tool in damp or wet locations or expose it to
rain. Water entering the tool will increase the
risk of electric shock.
28. Check the hedges and bushes for foreign
objects, such as wire fences or hidden wiring
before operating the tool.

always check that the switch trigger actuates
properly and returns to the “OFF” position when
released.
WARNING: For your safety, this device is
equipped with the lock-o󰀨 lever which prevents
the tool from unintended starting. Never use the
device if it starts when you pull the switch trigger
without pressing the lock-o󰀨 lever.Askyourlocal
MakitaServiceCenterforrepairs.
WARNING: Never disable the lock function or
tape down the lock-o󰀨 lever.
NOTICE: Do not pull the switch trigger forcibly
without pressing the lock-o󰀨 lever.Theswitchmay
break.

Topreventtheswitchtriggerfrombeingaccidentally
pulled,alock-o󰀨leverisprovided.
Tostartthetool,pulltheswitchtriggerwhilepullingthe
lock-o󰀨lever.Tostopthetool,releasetheswitchtrigger.
Forcontinuousoperation,pushinthelockbuttonwhile
pulling the switch trigger, and then release the switch
trigger.Tostopthetool,pulltheswitchtriggerfully,then
releaseit.Thelockbuttoncanbepushedfromeither
left or right side of the handle.

Installing or removing the shear
blades
CAUTION: When replacing the shear blades,
always wear gloves and attach the blade cover so
that your hands and face do not directly contact
the blades.
Removing the shear blades

to check if the tool works properly.
NOTICE: When the shear blades do not operate
properly, the blades do not engage the crank
properly. Remove the blades and install them
again.
Installing or removing chip receiver
Optional accessory
CAUTION: When installing or removing the
chip receiver, always wear gloves and attach the
blade cover so that hands and face do not directly
contact the blades.
Thechipreceiverreceivescut-o󰀨leavesandalleviates
collectingthrown-awayleaves.Itcanbeinstalledon
either side of the tool.
Toinstallthechipreceiver,pressittotheshearblades
sothatthehookstintotheholesoftheshearblades.

Toremovethechipreceiver,presstheleversonboth
sides to release the hooks.

NOTICE: Never try to remove the chip receiver
by an excessive force with its hooks locked in the
holes of the blades.
Engage the extension cord

Whenengagingtheextensioncord,secureittothe

about100-200mmfromtheextensioncordconnector.

Waist Hook for power cord

CAUTION: Do not attach any item other than
the power cord to the holder of the waist hook.
CAUTION: When using the waist hook, be
sure to use the power cord equipped with the tool.
Usingthewaisthookforpowercordhelpsprevent
careless severing of the power cord due to the cord
beingloose.Hookthehooksectionintoclothingorbelt
at waist height, and then hook the cord into the holder.

OPERATION
CAUTION: Be careful not to accidentally
contact a metal fence or other hard objects while
trimming.Thebladesmaybreakandcauseinjury.
CAUTION: Be careful for the shear blades
not to contact the ground.Thetoolmayrecoiland
causeinjury.
CAUTION: Overreaching with a hedge trim-
mer, particularly from a ladder, is extremely dan-
gerous.Donotworkinaplacewhereyourfootingis
unstable.
NOTICE: Do not attempt to cut branches thicker
than 10 mm diameter with the tool. Shear them
toyourdesiredheightusingbranchscissorsbefore
using the tool.
NOTICE: Do not cut o󰀨 dead trees or similar hard
objects. Failure to do so may damage the tool.
NOTICE: Do not trim the grass or weeds.The
bladesmayentanglethegrassorweeds.
Alwaysholdthetoolrmlywithonehandonthefront
gripping part and the other hand on the rear gripping
part.Pulltheswitchtriggerwhilepullingthelock-o󰀨
lever,andthenmoveitinfrontofyourbody.

direction and move it calmly and slowly at the speed
rate of 3 to 4 seconds per meter.

Cleaning the tool
Cleanthetoolbywipingo󰀨dustwithadryclothorone
dipped in soapy water and wrung out.
NOTICE: Never use gasoline, benzine, thinner,
alcohol or the like. Discoloration, deformation or
cracks may result.
Blade maintenance
Before the operation or once per hour during operation,
applylow-viscosityoil(machineoil,orspray-typelubri-
catingoil)totheblades.

Storage

ing the tool from a nail or screw on the wall.

of children carefully. Store the tool in the place not
exposed to water and rain.

18. Jangan mengoperasikan mesin tanpa beban
dengan tanpa keperluan.
19. Segera matikan motor dan cabut steker dari
sumber daya apabila pemotong menyentuh
pagar atau benda keras lainnya. Periksa
kerusakan pada pemotong dan segera perbaiki
bila perlu.

ke lokasi lain, termasuk selama melakukan
pekerjaan, selalu cabut steker dan pasang
penutup bilah pisau pada mata pisau
pemotong. Jangan pernah membawa atau
memindahkan mesin prol saat pemotong
masih beroperasi. Jangan pernah genggam
pisau pemotong menggunakan tangan.
23. Bersihkan alat pemotong tanaman setelah
digunakan dan sebelum menyimpan
pemotong dalam waktu yang lama. Sedikit

penutupnya.Penutupyangdisertakandengan
mesin dapat digantung di dinding, sehingga alat
pemotong tanaman dapat disimpan dengan aman
dan praktis.
24. Simpan alat pemotong tanaman dengan
penutupnya di ruangan yang kering. Jauhkan
dari jangkauan anak-anak. Jangan pernah
simpan mesin prol di luar ruangan.
25. Jangan arahkan bilah pisau pemangkas ke diri
sendiri atau orang lain.
26. Jika bilah pisau berhenti bergerak karena
benda asing tersangkut di antara bilah pisau
selama pengoperasian, matikan mesin dan
cabut steker, lalu keluarkan benda asing
menggunakan alat seperti tang. Mengeluarkan
bendaasingdengantangandapatmenyebabkan
cederakarenabilahpisaudapatbergeraksebagai
akibatdaridikeluarkannyabendaasingtersebut.
27. Hindari lingkungan berbahaya. Jangan
gunakan mesin di lokasi yang lembap dan
basah, atau membiarkannya terkena hujan.
Air yang masuk ke dalam mesin akan
meningkatkan risiko sengatan listrik.
28. Periksa tanaman pagar dan belukar apakah
ada benda asing di dalamnya, seperti pagar
kawat atau kawat yang tersembunyi sebelum
mengoperasikan alat.
