A CAUTION:
Always be sure that the cleaner is switched off and the
battery cartridge is removed before adjusting or
checkingfunctionon the cleaner.
Installing or removingbattery cartridge
Always switch off the cleaner before insertionor removal
of the battery cartridge.
To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it from the
cleaner while pressing the buttons on both sides of the
cartridge.
To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the
battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip
it into place. Always insert
it all the way until it locks in
place with a little click. If not, it may accidentally fall out
of the cleaner, causing injury
to you or someone around
you.
Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. If
the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being
inserted correctly.
Installing set plate(Optionalaccessory) for 4013D
only
Always install the set plate when using battery cartridges
1200, 1202or 1202A. Installthe set plate on the cleaner with
the screw provided.

Charging
Charge the battery cartridge with your Makita charger prop-
erly beforeuse.
Followingbatteriescan be usedfor this cleaner;

Switch action
A CAUTION:
Always be sure that the dust bag or paper filter is
installed properly in the cleaner before use. Improper
installationmay allow dust to enter the motor, resultingin
malfunctionof the cleaner.
Always switch off the cleaner after each use to prevent
damage
to the cleaner andto lengthenthe service life of
the batteries.

To start the cleaner, slide the switch lever forward to the “I”
position.
To stop the cleaner, slide the switch lever back to the “0
position.

Dust disposal
A CAUTION:
Empty the cleaner before it becomes too full, or the
suctionforce weakens.
