PATIENT START GUIDE
The purpose of the PlasmaFlow is to aid in the prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) by helping to stimulate
blood flow in the legs. This is accomplished by an electronically controlled pump delivering a set amount of air
to the leg cuffs that, in turn, compress the calf or calves to aid blood flow out of the lower extremities. The
pump will inflate each leg cuff to a preset pressure of 55mmHg and deflate once the pressure is reached.
POWER ON: Press the Power Button for three seconds. The unit powers up with BLUE LED
illuminated (RED can be illuminated if battery voltage is low). The unit will be in the first working mode.
After a delay, the pumps will allow inflation of the attached wraps to a pre-determined pressure of 55
mmHg. Once the pressure reaches the proper level, the pumps will turn OFF for a 50 second “rest” period.
To enter the second mode, tap the power button to enter the second mode. Mode 2 is a step up
technology and provides a 10 mmHg incremental pressure increase at 10mmHg per step.
POWER OFF: Push and hold the Power Button for three seconds, it will turn off.
SWITCH MODES: In order to operate the PlasmaFlow unit in “Mode 2”, simply tap the Power Button
once while the unit is powered on. The screen on the left side of the Power Button will display “0”, and the
screen on the right side of the Power Button will display “F2”. The unit will start operating in “Mode 2” after
a 10-second pause. To switch the PlasmaFlow unit back to “Mode 1”, simply tap the Power Button once.
Mode 1: Slow Inflation: Pressure will inflate to 55 mmHg and deflate.
Mode 2: “Step up Technology”: The PlasmaFlow unit’s pressure will increase at 10 mmHg with a
pause at every increment. Once the unit reaches 55 mmHg, it will deflate in the same descending increments.

INSTRUCTIONS
In order to properly indicate the state of the battery and charger, there are TWO stages of the
BATTERY INDICATOR;
STAGE 1 – BLUE: When unit power is ON and fully operational. Also indicates full charge.
STAGE 2 – RED: When the battery voltage becomes low during the pumping time and rest period.
When the light is red, the battery charger must be connected immediately to avoid any interruption.
BATTERY INDICATORS
PlasmaFlow Alarms: If battery voltage drops below critical level, cycling stops, audible alarm
goes on and the PlasmaFlow unit will FLASH RED. Alarm will continue for 10 seconds (unless unit is
powered OFF) and automatically turn off. Plug into power supply immediately.
“Battery Critical” Alarm : If battery voltage drops below critical level, cycling stops, audible
alarm will sound and UNIT WILL FLASH RED. Alarm will continue for 30 seconds (unless unit is powered
OFF) and automatically turn the unit OFF. Plug in power supply immediately.
Low Pressure or Leak Alarm: An audible alarm sounds when the unit does not reach desired
pressure after 30 seconds. Make sure the wrap is snug around the calf. Turn the PlasmaFlow unit off, and
then power the PlasmaFlow unit back on. If the unit continues to alarm and the default pressure is not
reached please call ManaMed customer service at 888-508-0712. DO NOT try to open or fix the device.
Alarm Reset: To reset an alarm condition after the “operation inhibit” stage is reached, the unit
must be turned OFF. If not manually turned OFF within 30 seconds of such an alarm condition occurring,
unit automatically turns itself OFF. Once the unit is turned back on the alarm is RESET.
Timer Indicator: When the PlasmaFlow unit is in use, the screen on the left side of the Power
Button operates as a Timer. The screen will display digit “1” for one hour of working time, digit “2” for two
hours of working time, etc. When the Timer reaches number “99”, it will automatically restart the count from
“0” (zero). When PlasmaFlow is not in use, the unit saves the previously accumulated working time (up to 99
hours). When the power is back on, the Timer will continue the count from the previously saved number.
Pressure Indicator: When the PlasmaFlow unit is in use, the screen on the right side of the
Power Button operates as a Pressure Indicator. As the unit inflates, the numerical digits increase to display
the pressure of the PlasmaFlow unit. As the unit deflates, the numerical digits decrease.

Alarmas de PrismaFlow: Si el voltaje de la batería desciende por debajo del nivel crítico, el ciclo se detendrá,
sonará una alarma y la unidad PlasmaFlow parpadeará en ROJO. La alarma continuará por 10 segundos (a
menos que la DETENGA antes) y se apagará automáticamente. Conéctelo de inmediato a la corriente.
Alarma de "batería crítica": Si el voltaje de la batería desciende por debajo del nivel crítico, el ciclo se
detendrá, sonará una alarma y la unidad PlasmaFlow parpadeará en ROJO. La alarma continuará por 30
segundos (a menos que la DETENGA antes) y se apagará el aparato automáticamente. Conéctelo de
inmediato a la corriente.
Alarma de presión baja o filtración: Sonará una alarma cuando la unidad no alcance la presión deseada tras
30 segundos. Asegúrese de que la abrazadera esté bien ajustada a la pantorrilla. Si aun así la unidad sigue
produciendo esta alarma y no se llega a la presión predeterminada, llame a Servicio a clientes de ManaMed:
888-508-0712. NO trate de abrir o reparar el dispositivo.
Restablecimiento de alarmas: Para restablecer una condición de alarma después de que se produzca la
condición de "inhibición de operaciones", el dispositivo debe estar APAGADO. Si no apaga el dispositivo en
menos de 30 segundos tras darse la situación de alarma, la unidad se apagará automáticamente. Cuando la
encienda de nuevo, la alarma se habrá RESTABLECIDO.
PANTALLAS NUMÉRICAS DIGITALES
Temporizador: Cuando utilice la unidad PlasmaFlow, la pantalla a la izquierda del botón de encendido
funciona como temporizador. Se mostrará el dígito "1" para una hora de funcionamiento, "2" para dos horas,
etc. Si se llega a "99" se reiniciará el conteo desde 0. Cuando no utilice el PlasmaFlow, la unidad guardará el
tiempo anterior acumulado (hasta 99 horas) para proseguir con él cuando vuelva a utilizar el aparato.
Presión: Cuando utilice la unidad PlasmaFlow, la pantalla a la derecha del botón de encendido hace las veces
de indicador de presión. Conforme se infla la unidad, los dígitos se incrementan para mostrar la presión de la
unidad PlasmaFlow. A medida que se desinfla, los dígitos disminuyen.
