Camel
Intended Use
The Camel by Mangar Health, is an inatable liing device which is designed to sit up and li a fallen person
from the oor. When inated, the Camel lis the paent into a raised seated posion ready to stand with
or without assistance.
This equipment may be used with or without a helper as required.
The Camel is powered by a Mangar Health Airo 24 Compressor and controlled using a 4-Way Hand Control.
Please refer to the separate Airo 24 compressor instrucons before operang.
Patented
WARNINGS
• This equipment MUST only be used by persons familiar in its use.
• The medical state of a person needing to be raised MUST be assessed before commencing a li.
• Ensure that the surface on which the Camel is to be placed is free from sharp objects. NOTE: Place a
blanket, groundsheet, towel or similar under the Camel if using it on a rough surface.
• If a slide sheet has been used to transfer the paent onto the Camel it must be removed from under the
paent before commencing a li.
• Secons 2, 3 and 4 MUST always be fully inated in sequence from the boom up, in order to maintain
stability. NOTE: The backrest may be parally inated before any other secon is raised. Once the
lowest secon is fully inated, the backrest can be raised further as required.
• Do not operate the Airo 24 compressor in the presence of ammable anaesthec mixtures with air,
oxygen or nitrous oxide, as these mixtures can create a combusble environment leading to the potenal
for re or even an explosion in the presence of a spark.
Ensure that you read and understand this instrucon manual before using
this product. Failure to follow the instrucons and safety precauons in
this manual can result in damage and/or serious injury.

Connecng the Hand Control and Airo 24 -

• Remove the Camel from the carrying bag,
unfasten the straps and unroll.
• Connect the four hoses from the hand control
to the corresponding numbered and coloured
connectors on the Camel (A).
• Connect the hose (B) from the hand control to
the Airo 24 compressor.
• Posion the Airo 24 compressor so that it will
not be in the way while posioning the paent.
Ensure that the hoses are not kinked.

Switching the Airo 24 ‘On’ & ‘O’ - g. 3
• To switch on, momentarily press the ‘Power’
buon (A g.3). The boom baery status
indicator light (B) will come on.
• To switch o, momentarily press the ‘Power’
buon. The boom baery status indicator light
will go out.
Posioning the paent on the Camel - g. 4
• Posion the Camel at the side of the paent so
that the paent’s head is level with the Camel
badge (A). NOTE: Place a blanket, groundsheet,
towel or similar under the Camel if using it on a
rough surface.
• Transfer the paent onto the Camel. The head
should lie on the Camel badge (A) and the body
should lie centrally.
Operang
The following instrucons apply equally when
the Camel is being operated by a person raising
themselves without assistance, or by an assistant
raising a paent.
WARNING: If a slide sheet has been used to transfer
the paent onto the Camel it must be removed from
under the paent before commencing a li.
• Switch the Airo 24 to ‘On’. Press the number
1 buon on the hand control to parally inate
the backrest secon unl the paent is in a
comfortable posion - g. 5
• Press the number 2 buon to inate the boom
secon unl it becomes rigid - g. 6

• Connue to press buons 3 and 4 in sequence
unl the secons become rigid - g. 7
• Press buon 1 to fully raise the backrest and
arrive at a sing posion - g. 8
• Whether assisted or used alone, the paent
should now be in a posion to stand or transfer
- g. 9
WARNING: In order to maintain stability, secons
must always be fully inated from the boom up,
in sequence.
Note: only the backrest (secon 1) may be parally
inated before the lower secons.

Aer Use
• To deate, disconnect each of the air hoses
from the Camel. NOTE: The inial ‘rush’ of air as
the hoses are disconnected from the Camel, can
be reduced by rst disconnecng the air hose
from the Airo 24 and then pressing each of the
buons on the hand control.
• Roll up the Camel with the hand control in the
hollow (A) - g. 10 secure the straps and place
in the carrying bag - g. 11
Roune Cleaning
Fully inate all secons of the Camel, sponge clean
with a non abrasive proprietary liquid cleaner or
disinfectant and dry thoroughly. Do not dry using
hot air.
Disinfecng
The Camel should be fully inated and pre-cleaned
by washing with detergent and water, thoroughly
rinsed and then disinfected using a 1:10 soluon of
household liquid bleach and water (1 part bleach
to 10 parts cold water). Leave the soluon on
the Camel for approximately 10 minutes before
thoroughly rinsing o with clean cold water. Allow
to air dry before storage. Do not dry using hot air.
Maintenance
Other than roune cleaning, the Camel is
maintenance free.
We recommend that a thorough examinaon of
the Camel is carried out regularly; the frequency of
examinaon may need to be increased depending
on usage and operang environment.
If required, Mangar Health can provide the above
inspecon within an annual service contract. Please
contact our Customer Service Department for

Transportaon / Storage
Disconnect the Airo 24 compressor from the Camel before transporng so as to avoid accidental
inaon of the cushion.
Ensure that the Camel is clean and thoroughly dry before storing. Failure to thoroughly dry the
cushion before storage may result in a build-up of mould on the surface of the product leading to
a weakening of the fabric and consequenal invalidaon of the product warranty. Store in a dry
environment.
To maintain the Airo 24 baery when being stored for long periods, put on charge for 16 hours
every 3 months.
Disposal / Recycling
When the Camel has reached the end of its working life, dispose of it at your local recycling centre
(civic amenity site).
When the Airo 24 has reached the end of its working life, remove the baery for safe disposal in
accordance with your local council guidelines, and dispose of the Airo 24 at your local recycling
centre (civic amenity site).
Troubleshoong
Problem Remedy
Compressor does not run when one or more of
the buons are pressed on the hand control.
Ensure that all the air hoses from the hand
control are connected to the Camel and Airo.
Compressor keeps stopping when trying to
inate the Camel. Check that there are no kinks in the air hoses.
Baery Status Indicator light ashing ‘Red’.
This happens when the compressor’s internal
temperature cut-out has tripped. Leave the
Airo for 60-90 minutes to cool.
Compressor causes electrical interference with
another piece of electrical equipment.
Move either the compressor or other item
further away from each other unl the
interference stops.

The warranty is given against defects in material and workmanship and comprises piece, parts and labour.
The warranty is not valid in the case of fair wear and tear, wilful damage, common neglect, misuse or
unauthorised alteraon or repair by unqualied persons.
The following statements do not aect the consumer’s statutory rights. This product is sold on the
understanding that in the event of any defect of manufacture or material appearing within the warranty
period, the defect will be reced free of charge providing that:
(a) Reasonable evidence is provided (e.g. purchase invoice, delivery note) that the claim is being made
within the warranty period.
(b) The defect is not aributable to accidental damage (either in transit or otherwise), misuse or
unauthorised repair.
