Loudspeaker placement
Every room is shaped and decorated dierently
and therefore presents unique requirements for
the positioning of loudspeakers.
Your loudspeakers will function at their best when placed on a
flat, stable surface. Ideally, the space between the loudspeakers
should be clear and the speakers should be centred on the rear
wall. We recommend experimenting with the placement of your
loudspeakers in order to obtain the best balance, openness and
perception of depth.
For the best results, Coltrane Tenor 2 SE should be no closer than
60 cm (23.6”) from the rear wall. Marten loudspeakers should not
be placed close to a side wall, as reflections from these can
disturb the depth of the sound image.
The listening distance should be no closer than 3m, but
preferably 3.5m or greater.
On the back of each Coltrane Tenor 2 SE loudspeaker, you will
find a dial that will allow you to adjust the bass by 1 dB in four
steps. Rotating the knob clockwise increases the sensitivity, and
rotating it anti-clockwise decreases the sensitivity.
Coltrane Tenor 2 SE loudspeakers deliver excellent imaging. To
make the most of this, the loudspeakers should be toed in
towards the listening area to focus the sound.
Ideally, your listening position and each loudspeaker should
form an equilateral triangle. The goal is to have a balanced
sound. Track 2 of the enclosed CD / USB can be used to help
focus the soundstage. With this track, you should be able to
place the recorded voice in the centre of your speaker
arrangement.
The amount of toe-in will depend on the room environment and
dimensions, as well as your listening preferences. Take time to
experiment with your listening position and the position of your
loudspeakers. This will give you a more precise sound image.
