MAINTENANCE
3.1GeneralNotesforMaintenance
Makesurethat the respectivesafety
regulationsarefollowed during the
maintenance, especiallythe safetyregulations
stated insection 2of theseoperating,
maintenanceand repairinstructions.
Propermaintenanceofthe vibratory plate
ensuresamuchhigherfunctional safetyand
increasesthe
lifetimeofimportantparts.The necessary
maintenanceeffortsarebyno means
proportionaltothe
damagesthatmayoccurbynon-observance.
lClean the vibratoryplateand the engine
thoroughlybeforestartingmaintenance
work.
lPlacethe vibratory plateonan even
surfaceformaintenance.
lPerformmaintenanceonlywhen the
engine isturned off.
lCatchrunning outoilsand fuel inaway
harmless tothe environmentand do not
allowthemtoseep intothe ground or
sewagesystem.Disposeofoilsand fuelin
awayharmless tothe environment.
Frequentcausesoffailures
lFaultyoperation
lIncorrect, insufficientmaintenance.
3.2Fuelsand Lubricants
Engineoil
During operationinwinterusewinterengineoil!
Toensureareliablecoldstart, it isimportantto
choosethe viscosity(SAE-class)of the engine
oilaccordingtothe surrounding temperatures.
During operation inwinterunder-10 °C(14 °F),
the oilchange intervalsmust be shortened.
Too viscouslubrication oilwill causedifficulties
whenstarting,forthisreason the temperature
during the engine startinwinterisdecisivefor
the viscositychoice.
Oilviscosity
Becauselubricant oilchangesitsviscositywith
the temperature,the surrounding temperature
at
the operating area of the engine isdecisivefor
the choiceofthe viscosityclass (SAE-class)
(see diagram).
Ifthe temperatureoccasionallyfallsbelowthe
limit(e.g.the useof SAE15W/40 up to-15 °C),
the coldstart abilitycouldbe impaired,although
thisdoesnot lead toanyengine damage.
Temperaturedependent oilchangescan be
avoided byusing multigrade oils.The following
mentioned oil change intervalsarealsovalidfor
multigrade oils.
