lBeforeusingthisequipment, studythe entireowner smanualto
becomefamiliarwithitsoperation.Donotallowuntrainedor
unauthorized personnel,especiallychildren,tooperatethisequipment.
Useonlyfactoryauthorized partsforservice.
USE COMMONSENSE WHENHANDLING FUELS
lTransportand handlefuelonlywhen contained inapproved safety
containers.
lDonotsmokewhen refuelingthe engine orduringanyotherfuel
handlingoperation.
lIf fuelisspilled duringrefueling,wipeitoff fromthe engine immediately
and discardthe raginasafeplace.Donotoperatethe unitiffueloroil
leaks exist-repairimmediately.
lNeveroperatethisequipment inan explosiveatmosphere.
lNeverperformanyworkon theunitwhileitisrunning.Beforeworking
on it,stoptheengineanddisconnectthesparkplugwiretoprevent
accidentalstarting.
lDonotoperatethisunitwithoutall guardsinplace.Keephands,feet,
clothingand jewelryawayfromthe unitbladesandall movingparts.
Rotatingand movingpartswill causeseriousinjuryifcontacted during
operation.
lDonot allowanyonetostandorleanon the unit duringoperation.
lKeepthesafetystopswitchsysteminadjustmentand goodoperating
conditionatall times.Donotoperatethetrowelifitdoesnotwork
properly.OutofcontrolTrowelscan causeseriouspersonalinjuryand
damagetofreshconcretesurfaces.Thissystemwillautomaticallystop
the unit ifthe operatorlosescontrolofit duringoperation.
lMakesurethesafetystopswitchisdisengaged (leverinthedown
position)beforestartingtheunit.Keeponehandfirmlyonthehandle
whilestartingand donot let goofthe handleduringoperation.
lAvoidcontact withhotexhaustsystemsand engine parts.
lAllowengine tocoolbeforeperforminganyrepairsorservice.
lEarprotection required when operatingthisequipment.
lNeveroperateanygaspowered equipmentinapoorlyventilatedor
enclosed area.
lAvoidprolonged breathingofexhaust gases.

INTRODUCTION
OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The followinginstructionswerecompiled toprovide youinformation on howtoobtainlongand
troublefree useofthe unit. Periodicmaintenanceofthisunitisessential.Readthemanualinits
entiretyandfollowthe instructionscarefully. Failuretodo somayinjureyourselforabystander.
DELIVERYCHECKS Immediatelyon takingdeliveryofyournewequipmentand before
puttingit intoservice.
lRead thehandbookcompletely it couldsaveagreat dealofunnecessaryexpense.
lRead theengine manualsupplied.
lCheck the generalcondition ofthe equipment –hasit been damaged duringdelivery?
lCheck engine oil level.
lCheck fuellevels.
Recommended lubricantsaredetailedintheCareandMaintenancesection.
STANDARD FEATURES
YournewPowerTrowelcomesstandardwithmanyfeaturestoenhanceproductivity,
performanceand safety.Listed belowarejust afewofthesefeatures.
SAFETYSTOPSWITCH The switchingmechanismofthisswitchshouldoperatefreelyand
shouldalwaysbekeptinthiscondition.Withthe switchintheOFF position, theengine should
notstartorrun.The purposeof thisswitchistostopthe engine inarunawaysituation,(i.e.the
operatorreleasingthe handleduringoperation).
ADJUSTABLETHROTTLE Located inaconvenientlocation,thispush-pull throttlecontrol
can besettoprovide anyblade speedfrom50 to130RPM, andlocatedinplaceat the desired
operatingspeed.
BENTARMADJUSTMENT Allowsbladestobeadjusted tocompensateforbentarms
caused bydroppingormishandlingthe trowel.Canbeeasilyadjustedon-siteforconsistent
finishing.
HEAVYDUTYRINGGUARD Protectsoperatorand unitwhileprovidinglowercenterof
gravitywhichcontributestounit stabilityandperformance.
CASTIRONSPIDER Extrastrongforinsurealignment. Alsocontributestolowercenteror
gravityforincreased trowelperformance.
FOLDABLEHANDLE Easyfortransportation and storage.
TILTADJUSTMENTKNOB –adjuststhe angleofthe bladesfordifferentcuringstagesand
conditionsof the concrete.Turningthe knobclockwiseincreasesthe angleof the bladestothe
concrete. Turningthe knobcounter-clockwiseflattensordecreasesthe angleofthe blades.
PREPARATIONFORSERVICE
BeforeStarting YournewPowerTrowelhasbeen assembled and testedatthefactory.However,
beforeplacingthe unit intoservicethe followingitemsshouldbechecked:

Tounfoldandsecurethe handleassembly:
1.Newmachine withfolded handle.
2.Unfoldingthe adjustablehandleandlock the screw.
3.Straighten the handleand lock the hingepin.
4.Tighten the adjustablelevertolock the handleinitsfullyopenedposition.
OILLEVELAND LUBRICATION Check the oil levelinthe engine and gearbox.Engine and
trowelwarrantiesareVOIDifthisunit isrun without oil.Theblade havebeen greased.
FUEL Fill the fueltankongasoline engineswithcleangasoline fromasafetycan.DO NOTmix
oil withthe gasoline.
OPERATIONS
TO START
Makesurethesafetystopswitchisinthe STOP position.Ifitisnot, pushtheleverdowntothe
STOP position beforeattemptingtostarttheengine.Openfuelvalveunderfueltank(ifso
equipped),open throttleapproximatelyhalfwaydownandapplychoke.Holdingunit handlefirmly
withone hand,pull the starterropesharplywiththe otherabout(3)times.When engine starts,
open chokeand adjustthrottleasnecessarytokeep itrunning.Ifengine doesn’tstartafter(3)
pulls, open chokeslightly.
NOTE: Thesestartinginstructionsaregeneralguidelinesonly.Sincemanyengine optionsare
availableon ourpowertrowels,consulttheENGINEMANUALincludedwiththe unitforspecific
instructions.
TO SHUTOFF
Pushthe safetystopswitchdowntothe STOP position.Closethrottleall theway,andturnthe
engine switchtoOFF position.
INITIALOPERATION
Withengine started asinstructed previouslyand atoperatingtemperature,adjustspeed toabout
halfthrottle.Holdthe handlefirmlywithone hand andmovethe safetystopswitchtoRUN
position toengagethetrowelblades.
FINISHING OPERATION
Afterfloating,allowthe concretetosetuntil it willsupportthe weightof the trowel.Setthe pitchto
approximately1/4”to3/8”on theblades.Ifthe bladesstarttodigintothe concrete,decreasethe
amount ofpitch.
