1.0 –SAFETY
Proper safety precautions should be taken when using the Quik-Fit Clamp. A little common sense goes a long way towards preventing
accidents involving your Mathey Dearman Equipment.
The operator shall read and understand the QUIK-Fit Clamp parts and operating manual prior to attempting operation of the
equipment.
Eye protection and protective clothing such as steel toed shoes and gloves shall be worn to protect the operator when using
the QUIK-Fit Clamp.
Make sure loose clothing, tools, belts, etc. do not become entangled on the QUIK-Fit clamp.
Never use the QUIK-Fit Clamp for other than its intended purpose.
Clear the general area where the QUIK-Fit Clamp will be used of all trip hazards.
The Mathey Dearman QUIK-Fit Clamp is not intended to lift the pipe.
Never use the QUIK-Fit clamp as a ground for a plasma or welding systems
Always check the QUIK-Fit Clamp for defects such as arc marks, abrasions and nicks prior to operation.
Make sure that the QUIK-Fit Clamp will function properly prior to attempting the alignment or reforming of pipes or fittings.
The QUIK-Fit Clamp should never be used as the sole support of the pipe or fitting.
When using the QUIK-Fit Clamp, basic safety precautions must always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury.
Always operate the QUIK-Fit Clamp in accordance with the operating instructions.
The pipe must be secured from rotation, prior to mounting the QUIK-Fit Clamp on the pipe.
Make sure the QUIK-Fit Clamp is in full contact with the mating pipe, fitting or valve.
The QUIK-Fit should never be used on a mating pipe, fitting or valve having a taper surface of more than 5 degrees.
IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE PROCEDURES, ALL SHOP, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL SAFETY RULES CONCERNING THE RIM
CLAMP SHOULD BE FOLLOWED. ALL CLAMPING OPERATIONS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED IN THE BEST OF SAFETY CONDITIONS.
2.0 –INTRODUCTION
The light weight design of the QUIK-Fit Clamp makes it ideal for shop or field. The T handle assembly allows the clamp to be rapidly
adjusted from one pipe size to another. The QUIK-Fit Clamp’s three (3) carbon steel bars contact the main pipe and precise Hi-Lo is
accurately obtained by adjusted the three (3) wing screws. The Quik-Fit Clamp makes it easy to precisely align any pipe within its
clamping range. The clamp comes with stainless steel kit containing stainless steel slippers to go over the carbon steel bars for stainless
steel applications.

3.0 - INSTRUCTION OF USE
Step 1. Remove the QUIK-Fit Clamp from the box
Step 2. Check the clamp for functionality by rotating the T handle to make sure it covers its entire clamping range.
Step 3. Rotate all wing screw assemblies counterclockwise so just the end of the screw is exposed below the alignment bar.
Step 4. Place the QUIK-Fit Clamp over the pipe or slip it over the end of the pipe and rotate the T handle assembly clockwise until it is
firmly clamped on the pipe.
Step 5. Rotate all wingscrew assemblies clockwise until they contact the pipe.
Step 6. Rotate the upper wingscrew assembly counterclockwise two (2) full turns.
Step 7. Rotate the T handle assembly counterclockwise until the clamp is loose on the pipe.
WARNING: When operating the clamp do not place fingers, hands or feet under the pipe or fitting. Failure to do so may
result in serious injury should the pipe or fitting fall.
WARNING: Placing hand or fingers between the screw block assembly and the middle block assembly when open the
clamp may result in serious injury.
WARNING: Do not place hand or finger between the left or right frame assembly and the pipe. Failure to do so may
result in serious injury.

Step 8. Slide the clamp forward so the mid-point of the weld joint is centered between wingscrew assembly and the back of the notch
in the alignment bar.
Step 9. Rotate the T handle assembly clockwise until the clamp is tight on the pipe.
Step 10. Place the pipe or fitting in the clamp.
Step 11. Rotate the upper wingscrew assembly clockwise until it touches the pipe.
Step 12. With a straight edge check the alignment of the mating pipe or fitting to the main pipe.
Step 13. Adjust the wingscrew assemblies as need to obtain proper alignment of the mating pipe or fitting to the main pipe.
Step 14. Tack weld the pipe or fitting in place and remove the clamp.
If aligning several pipe of the same size Steps 1 thru 7 can be eliminated after initial set-up.
4.0 –MAINTENANCE
1. All wingscrews should be inspected after each clamping operation for splatter and other foreign debris. Any slag, splatter and
other foreign debris should be removed prior to the next clamping operation.
2. All wingscrews should be checked for damaged threads. If the threads are damaged; the threads should be filed smooth so that
the wingscrew will smoothly move in and out of the alignment bar.
3. Check the threaded hole in the alignment bar for missing threads. If threads are missing do not use the Quik-Fit Clamp. Replace
the clamp.
4. The wingscrews should be Lubricated with Loctite C5-A Copper-based Anti-seize lubricant or equal every 10 hours of operation.
5. Coat the acme adjustment screw with a light film of Lithium grease.
