TRANSMITTER
Your vehicle will not operate without the TYCO® R/C
9.6V Turbo Rechargeable NiCd Battery Pack and Charger
(Stock No. 32997). Not included.
■This economical rechargeable system is the only
battery pack and charger made to power your Tyco
R/C 9.6V Turbo vehicle.
■Inferior quality battery packs will shorten running
time and may void the warranty.
1. Plug wall pack charger into standard wall outlet.
2. Connect the wires leading from the battery pack to
the wall pack charger connector. Make certain the
two connectors are tightly snapped together.
3. To disconnect wires, push down on the connector clip
and pull apart.
4. Your battery pack consists of new parts and materials;
therefore, you should charge the battery pack for 5 1/2
hours the first two times you charge the battery.
Subsequent charges will require only 4 hours.
5.After charging for 4 hours, the battery will feel warm.
This condition is normal for fully charged batteries.
6. Charging the battery pack for more than 4 hours will
not give you a longer running time. 4 hours is all that
is required for a fully charged battery pack.
7. Unlike alkaline batteries, where the power loss is
gradual, a NiCd (Nickel-Cadmium) battery will run
for its normal running time, depending on your
particular vehicle, and then lose most of its power at
once. It is time to recharge the battery pack. Running
time will be between 20-30 minutes.
8. After use, the battery pack will be hot! Wait at least 20
minutes until the battery pack cools before recharging.
Recharging a warm or hot battery pack will greatly reduce
the number of times your battery pack can be recharged.
Cautions:
■DO NOT RECHARGE BATTERY PACK IF IT’S HOT. ALLOW IT TO COOL BEFORE RECHARGING.
■DO NOT RECHARGE A BATTERY PACK THATSHOWS LEAKAGE OR CORROSION.
■DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE BATTERY PACK. THE BATTERY PACK IS A SEALED RECHARGEABLE
NICKEL-CADMIUM BATTERY.
■DO NOT DISPOSE OF THE BATTERY PACK IN FIRE.
■EXERCISE CAUTION IN HANDLING A HOT BATTERY PACK.
■IF BATTERY PACK AND/OR CHARGER ARE WET, THOROUGHLY DRY BEFORE CHARGING.
■DO NOT RECHARGE NON-RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
Special Note To Adults:
■Remove rechargeable batteries before recharging. Recharge batteries only
under adult supervision.
■Regularly examine for damage to the cord, plug, enclosure and other parts. In the
event of any damage, the toy must not be used with the transformer until the damage
has been repaired.
■This toy is not intended for children under 3 years old. The transformer is not a toy.
Important Battery In ormation
■Insure that battery polarity is correct.
■Use only batteries of the type recommended (or equivalent).
■Do not mix old and new batteries.
■Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
■Remove used-up batteries immediately. Remove batteries if vehicle will not
be used for a long period.
■For best performance use alkaline batteries. Battery life may vary depending on
battery brand.
■Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries.
■Do not short-circuit terminals.
■Remove rechargeable batteries before recharging. Recharge batteries only under
adult supervision.

SYMPTOM
Vehicle runs slowly or will not run.
Erratic operation or only short range possible.
Short battery life.
Vehicle doesn’t work after going through water or snow.
Power indicator light on transmitter does not light when either
joystick is activated.
PROBABLE CAUSE
• Loose battery connection or vehicle switch not ON.
• Weak or uncharged rechargeable battery.
• Weak 9-volt transmitter battery.
• Radio interference likely.

QUICK REFERENCE
This section is only a quick reference guide. Please
read this entire manual thoroughly before operating
your vehicle.
1. Give your 9.6V Turbo battery pack a full 4-
hour charge and then install in vehicle.
2. Turn vehicle and transmitter switches ON.
3. After approximately 20-30 minutes of running,
your vehicle will lose most of its power at once.
The 9.6V Turbo battery pack is near total
power loss and needs to be recharged.
4. Turn vehicle and transmitter switches OFF.
TIPS & HINTS
1. The radio circuitry in your vehicle and
transmitter is sensitive. Do not store vehicle or
transmitter near heat or in direct sunlight.
After each use, remove any water or moisture
from vehicle using a clean dry cloth. Avoid
operating in snow.
2. Turn vehicle switch to the OFF position and
remove battery pack when not in use.
3. When your vehicle runs erratically, the
problem is usually the result of interference
caused by high tension wires, CB radios, or
other R/C vehicles running nearby on the same
frequency as yours. You may have to choose an
alternative place to race.

Precautions
Adults, this toy is recommended
for children 5 years of age and
older. To ensure that the child’s
play is both safe and fun, please
review the operating instructions
and these general safety rules
with the child.

■If this toy is being operated in
the presence of children under
5 years of age, adult
supervision is recommended.

QUICK REFERENCE
2. Radio interference can be
caused by the operation of
your vehicle near HIGH
VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL WIRES,
LARGE STEEL REINFORCED
CONCRETE BUILDINGS and
PASSING TRUCKS WITH CB
RADIOS. Avoid these if
possible.
3. DO NOT operate your vehicle
over wet surfaces. Water can
damage the electronic
assemblies.
1. Radio interference is caused by
the presence of another radio
controlled vehicle operating on
the same frequency as your
vehicle. Multiple vehicles
should NOT BE OPERATED ON
THE SAME FREQUENCY at the
same time.
4. DO NOT operate your vehicle on
streets! They are for real cars.
65'/20m
30'/10m
5. For best results, hold antenna
up, not pointed down toward
R/C vehicle. If you drive your
vehicle TOO FAR AWAY FROM
THE TRANSMITTER, your signal
strength will become weak and
vehicle will not function
properly. The maximum range
for the vehicle should be
between 30'/10m to 65'/20m,
when operating outdoors.
