This Quick Start Guide provides a quick overview of selected operating procedures
and functions of the mbSPIDER datamodem. However, the detailed manual with
the important Notes and safety instructions can NOT be replaced by this document.
Read the following instructions carefully and keep them in a safe.

● The mbSPIDER datamodem is built to the latest technological standards and
recognized safety standards (see Declaration of Conformity).
● Install the data modem in a dry location. Do not allow liquid to get inside the
device, as this could result in electric shocks or short circuits.
● The data modem is for indoor use only.
● The manufacture shall not accept any guarantee for modications made by the
user. Improper handling and non-observance of the description shall render all
warranty claims null and void.
● Mounting/electrical installation may only be performed by a qualied electrical
specialist.
● All work on the device (e.g. on interfaces, SIM card replacement, replacing the
antenna, etc.) may only take place when the system is de-energized.
NOTE: Electrostatic Discharge!
Observe the necessary safety precautions when handling components
that are vulnerable to electrostatic discharge (EN 61340-5-1 and IEC
61340-5-1)!
The mbSPIDER datamodem are maintenance-free units.
If a mbSPIDER have damage or malfunction, the device must be
immediately taken out of service and secured against inadvertent operation.

Using Open-source-Software
General Information
Our products contain, amongst others, so-called open-source software that is pro-
vided by third parties and has been published for free public use. The open-source
software is subject to special open-source software licenses and the copyright of
third parties. Basically, each customer can use the open-source soft-ware freely in
compliance with the licensing terms of the respective producers. The rights of the
customer to use the open-source software beyond the purpose of our products
are regulated in detail by the respective concerned open-source software licenses.
The customer use the open-source software freely, as provided in the respective
eective license, beyond the purpose that the open-source software gets in our
products. In case there is a contradiction between the licensing terms for one of our
products and the respective open-source software license, the respective relevant
open-source software license takes priority over our licensing terms, as far as the
respective open-source software is concerned by this.
The use of the used open-source software is possible free of charge. We do not
demand usage fees or any comparable fees for the use of the open-source soft-
ware contained in our products. The use of the open-source software in our pro-
ducts by the customer is not part of the earnings we achieve with the contractual
compensation.
All open-source software programs contained in our products can be taken from
the available list. The most important open-source software licenses are listed in
the Licenses section at the end of this publication.
As far as programs contained in our products are subject to the GNU General
Public License (GPL), GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL), the Berkeley
Software Distribution (BSD), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) or
another open-source software license, which regulates that the source code must
be made available, and if this software is not already delivered in source code on a
data carrier with our product, we will send you this at any time upon request. If it is
required to send this on a data carrier, the sending will be made against pay-ment
of a cost compensation of € 35,00. Our oer to send the source code upon request
ceases automatically three years after delivery of our product to the customer.

contained in our product are used by the customer in a manner that does not com-
ply any more with the purpose of the contract, which is the basis of the acquisition
of our product. This concerns in particular any use of the open-source software
programs outside of our product. The warranty and liability regulations that are
pro-vided by the respective eective open-source software license for the respec-
tive open-source software as listed in the following are eective for the use of the
open-source software beyond the purpose of the contract. In particular, we are not
liable, if the open-source software in our product or the complete software con-
gu-ration in our product is changed. The warranty granted with the contract, which
is the basis of the acquisition of our product, is only eective for the unchanged
open-source software and the unchanged software conguration in our product.

Mounting
Switchgear cabinet hat rail mounting
The mbSPIDER types MDH 900, -901, -905 and -906 are intended for switchgear
cabinet installation. The devices are designed for mounting on hat rails (according
to DIN EN 50 022).
Click!
1. Put the unit to the top leadership of the DIN rail.
2. Press the device down against the DIN rail
3. until it clicks into place.
Wall mounting
The mbSPIDER types MDH 910, -911, -915 and -916 are intended for simple
screw-on wall mounting (optional retainer for hat rail mounting).

First time operation
Depending on the device type, connect an antenna and insert a SIM card.
Connection to the power source
ATTENTION
Before connecting the mbSPIDER to a network or PC, rst ensure that it is
properly connected to a power source, otherwise it may cause damage to other
equipment. You should therefore follow the instructions given below!
Connect the (10-30 V DC) power source to the terminals 1 (V+) and 2 (GND).
Ensure correct polarity!
After switching on the
power source: Power LED lights up .
After 20-30 seconds: Ready LED ashes .
After approx. 60 seconds: Ready LED and Power LED lit up continuously.
The mbSPIDER is now
ready for operation.
Connecting the mbSPIDER with the conguration PC
To be able to access the web interface of the device, you must connect it to a
conguration PC using the supplied network cable.

Conguration prerequisites
• The conguration PC must have a network card.
• An internet browser (for example, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
must be installed on the computer.
The required settings on your PC are as follows:
As the mbSPIDER is delivered from the factory with the IP address
192.168.0.254, set the IP address of the computer in such a way that it is within
the network 192.168.0.X (X = variable).
The IP address must be in the network 192.168.0.X and may not be occupied
by another network subscriber!
The subnet mask must be 255.255.255.0.

Opening the mbSPIDER web interface
Open your browser and enter the device‘s IP address in the address bar.
The factory setting is: 192.168.0.254
Log into the device as follows:
Username: admin
Password: admin
ADVICE
Change unconditionally and without delay the default login information!

Loading the factory settings
ADVICE
When the mbSPIDER is reset to the factory settings, all the data (log les, visua-
lization conguration and system conguration) is lost.
Ensure that no USB stick is connected to the device.
1. Turn on the device or, if the device is on, press the Reset button..
2. Then immediately press the Function button and
keep it pressed.
3. After 20 - 30 seconds the LED Ready starts to ash.
4. Approximately 10 sec later, the LEDs Fc1, Fc2, and
Fc3 will ash.
5. Now release the Function button.
6. 20 - 30 seconds later, the LEDs Power + Ready
light up.
The mbSPIDER is now ready for operation and can / must be recongured.
