3 After treatment is over and used water disposed of, spray the inside
of Collapsible Bucket (8) with the 1:400 mix of Difficil-S®.
4 Pour into the Collapsible Bucket the remainder of the 200ml of
Difficil-S®1:400 concentrate.
5 To clean the Siphon, pour 1 litre of cold water into the Orange
Bucket and add the remaining Difficil-S®concentrate.
6 Use the Siphon to empty the bucket, taking care to dispose of
the used water and cleaning fluid. Run clean water through
the Siphon for at least 1 minute.
7 Allow the Siphon to drain for at least 5 minutes before re-using.
8 The metal components of the Base Frame (1) and Bath Rim (6)
may be dismantled by removing the wing nuts and firmly
pulling apart. These parts, along with the Support Bar (3), may

Assembly
1 Remove all components from the Carrying Rucksack (4).
2 Place Base Frame (1) ) on the floor and insert Support Pole (3)
into the hole on the top of the Base Frame. Fix with wing-bolt.
3 Insert Support Pole (3) into Bath Rim (6) and lower the Rim as
far down as it will go.
3 Insert Protective Lining (2) into the Bath Bag (5) so that it lines
the bag completely and comes over the Bath Rim.
4 The First-Step®Leg Bath is now ready for use.
1 Position the Leg Bath with Support Pole closest to clinician. Ask
patient to place their limb into the bath while the Bath Rim is
fully lowered.
2 Raise the Bath Rim (6) to the desired height and secure firmly
with the metal pin affixed by lanyard to the rear of Bath Rim.
3 Fill the bath to desired level (the Blue Bucket (8) can be used
for this). The Bath Bag (5) holds approx. 30 litres.
3 When finished, use the Siphon (7) (press orange button at top
end) to remove the used liquid to the Orange Bucket.
IMPORTANT: Always use one colour bucket for filling and the
other for emptying.
4 When Bath Bag (5) is empty, lower the Bath Rim (6), ask the
patient to remove their limb, then dispose of the Protective
Lining (2).
5 Disassemble the Leg Bath, clean and disinfect (see Cleaning
and maintenance) and replace in carrying rucksack.
How to use
To maintain standards of hygiene and prevent cross-infection, the
First-Step®Leg Bath, Siphon (7) and Collapsible Bucket (8) should be
cleaned and disinfected after each use.
1 Make up a mix of Difficil–S®* (or any other similar disinfecting
agent) in a 10 litre container as per manufacturer’s instruc-
tions. NOTE: Once mixed, Difficil-S®has a life of 14 days.
2 Before making patient visit, fill a spray container with 200ml of
1:400 mix of Difficil-S®.
