CHAPTER 1. GENERAL SAFETY
Mechline highly recommends that any operator familiarise themselves with the following safety
points and other information contained in this manual before operating the reel.
1.1 It is important to become familiar with the
operation and function of the hose reel to
avoid injury and damage to the reel.
1.2 Always ensure that the appropriate safety
equipment is worn.
1.3 Familiarise yourself with the application
and limitations of the hose reel, as well as
specific hazards.
1.4 WARNING! Disconnect the hose reel
from the water supply before changing
accessories or performing any general
maintenance.
1.5 Maintain the hose reel in good condition
(see Maintenance section).
1.6 Replace or repair damaged parts. Use
recommended parts only. Unauthorised
parts may be dangerous and will
invalidate the warranty.
1.7 Locate and fix the hose reel in a suitable
working area. Do not position the reel in
direct sunlight, or in areas of extreme
heat or cold. Ensure there is adequate
lighting.
1.8 WARNING! Ensure maximum pressure
and water temperature for the hose reel
is not exceeded.
1.9 Keep extended hose away from heat, oil
and sharp edges. Check hose for wear
before each use, and ensure all
connections are secure.
1.10 Keep the unwound hose at a safe
distance from the working area and
free from wet, damp, oily surfaces.
1.11 Keep children and unauthorised persons
away from the working area.
1.12 Maintain correct balance and footing.
Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear
non-slip shoes.

the warranty. Internal maintenance,
which will require the opening of the
casing, must only be undertaken by
Mechline.

CHAPTER 2. INSTALLATION - using the standard PIVOT brackets
If using the optional wall (or oor)
fixed
mount bracket (part No. MERK-BKT) proceed to CHAPTER 3.
2.1 Ensure the structure to which the hose reel is to be fixed is of sound construction and strong
enough to carry the weight of the reel plus the working strain exerted on it when in use.
2.2 For wall mounting at heights above 1.6m it is advisable to relocate the mouthguard to the lower
position - see page 7. Note: The hose exit point should not be more than 2.4 metres above oor level.
2.3 Drill appropriate holes for the standard pivot brackets as shown in the diagram below.
2.4 Screw fix the bottom bracket onto the chosen surface using appropriate fixings. Position the
hose reel onto this bottom bracket, then place the top bracket onto the reels top pivot point and
proceed to screw securely to the wall.
IMPORTANT: Do not leave the reel hanging unsupported in the bottom mounting bracket whilst
reaching for fasteners or tools. Leaving the reel hanging freely places unncessary stress on the
bottom bracket, and may cause the bracket to fail immediately. If it does not break immediately,
the bracket can be severely weakened and fail some weeks later during normal operation.
2.5 Proceed to CHAPTER 4.

CHAPTER 3. INSTALLATION - using the optional wall (or floor) FIXED bracket
If using the standard wall
pivot
brackets go back to CHAPTER 2.
3.1 Ensure the structure to which the hose reel is to be fixed is of sound construction and strong
enough to carry the weight of the reel plus the working strain exerted on it when in use.
3.2 For wall mounting at heights above 1.6m it is advisable to relocate the mouthguard to the lower
position - see page 7. Note: The hose exit point should not be more than 2.4 metres above oor level.
3.3 Drill appropriate holes for the fixed bracket as shown in the diagram below.
3.4 Screw fix the bracket onto the chosen surface using appropriate fixings.
3.5 Push the hose reel into the bracket so that the 2x lugs either side of the hose reel outer casing
lock into the holes either side of the bracket.
