1Check that the following items are
in the Mente Autism product box:
•Headband
•Activation card
• E arphones + case
•Sensors + case
•USB charger adapter
•Carrying pouch

2Go to the App Store or Play Store to
download and install the Mente Autism
application on your iOS or Andriod
smartphone/tablet.
3Open the Mente Autism app.

Tap on the 'Register Now' link.
Register by entering the details found
on the activation card and your
account details in the form provided.
Log into the Mente Autism app by
using the chosen credentials and tap
on the 'Sign In' button.

6Switch on the Mente Autism headband
(when it is placed on the head) by
pressing the power button. The LED
indicator will be orange. This means
the device needs to be configured.
Download and read the user manual
from the 'Resources' section on the
user dashboard of the website
www.menteheadband.com.

•Tap on the 'Configure' button. Select the serial number of the Mente Autism device
you want to connect to (for detailed instructions per platform refer to user manual).
•Follow the instructions on the screen.
•When requested, enter the network credentials for Wi-Fi or, if you are using your
mobile network, the credentials of your mobile hotspot.
•Hit the 'Submit' button. Your network credentials have been saved.
•The Mente Autism LED indicator will start to blink green as it tries to connect to the
network you configured. (Turns to solid green when successfully connected).
On the phone/tablet, open the app to configure the network as follows:
When network is configured, you can start a session or switch off the device.

A quick guide for

1Ensure the Mente Autism headband is clean
and ready to use. Device should be switched
off while sensors are being attached and
while headband is being placed on the
head.
2Connect the sensors in the configuration
shown in the manual.

3Place the Mente Autism headband on
the child’s forehead with the row of 3
electrodes touching the child’s skin.
4Position the headband so that the reference
line marker is in line with the child’s nose.

5Place the back of the band around the
child’s head. Make sure that the 2 sensors
at the back have clean contact with the
skin through the hair.
6Tighten the headband using the double
Velcro secure system. The buckle should be in
the centre of the back of the head and both
strands should be tightened equally and
firmly.

7Connect the earphones into the auxiliary
jack on the Mente Autism casing. 8Switch the Mente Autism device on by
pressing the push switch on the device
casing.

Note: It is important that the Mente device and the smartphone/tablet are connected to the
same network.
The LED indicator on the Mente Autism device should light up as solid green. If the network
has not been configured or if you are using a different network, the LED indicator will blink
green. To configure the network, follow the instructions given in Step 7 in the 'Getting
Started' section.

Open the Mente Autism app on your smartphone or tablet.
Log into the app by using the chosen credentials and tap on
the 'Sign In' button. Once you are logged into the Mente
Autism app, tap on 'Start Session'. This will lead you to a
screen showing the network with which the Mente Autism
device is connected.

11 Follow the pre-therapy checks. You can start the therapy once all pre-checks have
been completed. Pre-therapy checks include:
Battery check – Ensures there is enough charge for a full session.
Short test – Ensures all equipment is connected and working properly.
Signal test – Ensures the signal can be read properly.
Impedance test – Ensures the sensors are connected properly.
Volume check – Volume is set for the duration of the therapy session.
Note: Before every new session, the device will upload the data of the previous session to
the server. After the data has been uploaded, a new session can begin.

The session can be monitored at any
point during the therapy using the Mente
Autism app. Any problems encountered
will be displayed on the app.
If all pre-therapy checks are
successful, the session will begin.
A session stops automatically
after 40 minutes.

Manually turn off the device by pressing
the power button, before taking it off.
If there is a stable Internet connection,
the device will synchronise automatically
with our Mente cloud system. The session
report can be found in the history tab.

Clean and store the Mente Autism
device as instructed in the user
manual.
Repeat the session once a day, as
early as possible in the morning.
