1 Preface
METREL instruments are able to communicate with USB or wireless external keyboard,
that offers to operate with the instruments without touching them.
The following instruments have ability to operate with the external keyboard:
- MI 3325,
- MI 3360.
- MI 3394
Metrel and/or theirs distributors have the latest information of applicable test equipment.
2 Safety and operational considerations

Consider warnings and notes of master Metrel instrument and USB keyboard.

Note:
- External keyboard manufacturer or theirs representative shall provide information
related to applied standards.

4 External keyboard operation
4.1 Setup
1. Read and apply instructions of USB connected / wireless keyboard. (Insert batteries
if required).
2. Connect keyboard receiver (2), or USB wired keyboard (4) into USB connector of
the A 1578 adapter (3).
3. Connect RS232 connector of the A 1578 adapter (3) into instruments RS232
connector dedicated for communication with external reading devices (see
instruments instruction manual for details).
4. Turn power on of the instrument.
5. Select General settings / Settings menu and set Ext. Keyboard to ON.

6. The external keyboard is ready for operation.
4.2 Operational note
- Test instrument shall have inserted Micro SD card. The instrument will in this case
keep enabled external keyboard status. Without SD card the steps of 4.1 Setup
shall be applied.

5 Maintenance
There are no replaceable parts in A 1578.
5.1 Cleaning
No special maintenance is required for the housing. To clean the surface of A 1578 use a
soft cloth slightly moistened with soapy water or alcohol. Then leave the A 1578 to dry
totally before use.
Warnings:
Do not use liquids based on petrol or hydrocarbons!
Do not spill cleaning liquid over the adapter!

For repairs under warranty, or at any other time, please contact your distributor.
