Setting up your Surface Book
English
1. Get ready
To set up your Surface Book, we recommend you have:
• Wi-Fi network access (and the password if it is secured).
• A Microsoft account (use an existing account, such as
Hotmail, Outlook.com or Xbox, or sign up
during setup).

2. Set up
• Open your Microsoft Surface Book
• Tap the Power button
• Take your Surface Pen out of the box, then press and
hold the top button for 5 seconds and you will see a
white LED ashing on the Pen - now the Pen is in pairing
mode and you can continue on-screen set up.

3. Sign in
Follow the on-screen instructions and enter (or sign up for)
your Microsoft account info when prompted.
4. Complete Setup
Your Surface Book is going to take a few minutes to complete
the setup process.
5. Important Software Updates
Updates to Surface and Windows are released regularly to
improve performance. Your Surface Book will automatically
download updates during the setup process and in the rst few
days you are using Surface Book.

Trouble pairing (manual pairing)
If your Surface Pen didn’t automatically pair with your Surface
Pro 4 during setup, you can manually set it up.
1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, open All
Settings icon.
2. Tap Devices > Bluetooth. Swipe Bluetooth to On.
3. Press and hold the top button on the Pen until the LED
light ashes to turn on Bluetooth pairing mode.
4. Tap Surface Pen in the list.

Cortana1–your personal assistant
Cortana, your personal assistant in Windows 10 is always
available to you. Click and hold the top button to activate
Cortana to help you with everyday tasks and delivering
timely reminders.
Easy notetaking
When your Surface is locked, click the top button the
Surface Pen to open a new note, then start writing or
drawing. Notes are automatically saved. Click the button
again to start a new note.

Congure Windows Hello using the

1. Make sure you have installed all updates on your
Microsoft Surface Book
2. Swipe in from the right and go to All settings.
3. Open Accounts and select Sign-in Options
4. Create a pin
5. Click on Windows Hello and congure your
Microsoft Surface Book for Face Authentication

1. Voorbereiden
Als u uw Surface Book wilt installeren, raden we u aan het

4. Conguratie instellen
Het duurt enkele minuten voordat het installatieproces van uw
Surface Book is voltooid.
5. Belangrijke software-updates
Er worden regelmatig updates voor Surface en Windows
uitgebracht om de prestaties te verbeteren. Op uw Surface
Book worden tijdens het installatieproces en in de eerste paar

Problemen met koppelen (handmatig koppelen)
Als uw Surface-pen niet automatisch met uw Surface Book is
gekoppeld tijdens de installatie, kunt u dit handmatig instellen.
1. Veeg vanaf rechts over het scherm en open het pictogram
Alle instellingen.
2. Tik op Apparaten > Bluetooth. Schuif de instelling voor

Als uw Surface vergrendeld is, klikt u op de bovenste knop
op de Surface Pen om een nieuwe notitie te openen en

nieuwe notitie te starten.

2. Conguration

3. Connexion

La procédure de conguration de votre Surface Book va

5. Mises à jour logicielles importantes
Des mises à jour de Surface et de Windows sont publiées
régulièrement an d’améliorer les performances de l’appareil.
Votre Surface Book télécharge automatiquement les mises
à jour pendant la procédure de conguration et pendant les

Problème de jumelage (jumelage manuel)
Si le jumelage du stylet Surface et de Surface Book ne s’est pas
effectué automatiquement pendant la conguration, procédez
vous-même à ce jumelage.
1. Balayez à partir du bord droit de l’écran, puis ouvrez
l’icône Tous les paramètres.
2. Appuyez sur Périphériques > Bluetooth. Faites glisser
Bluetooth sur Activé.
3. Appuyez de manière prolongée sur le bouton situé en
haut du stylet jusqu’à ce que la LED clignote pour activer
le mode de jumelage Bluetooth.
4. Appuyez sur Stylet Surface dans la liste.
