SAFETY AND PRECAUTIONS WHILE USING AN E-BIKE
Before using your E-Bike for the first time, ask your dealer to explain all the functions and
features that you do not fully understand. Check with your dealer to make sure your E-Bike fits
you properly.
It is essential that you become familiar with the use of your E-Bike before riding it in
traffic. You must get used to riding your E-Bike in a controlled environment, away from cars,
other cyclists, pedestrians or other obstacles. It is recommended to ride in a closed circuit
for 4 to 10 hours, depending on the users level of experience, in order to become familiar with
the controls, features and performance of your new E-Bike. Familiarize yourself with the
power assistance modes, the braking action, and how steering the E-Bike is affected
when the power assistance is in use.
Before turning on the power assistance, you must always be on your E-Bike and be fully
prepared to start riding it. Always turn off the power assistance before getting off your E-Bike.
To turn the power assistance on and off, press the ON/OFF button on the control panel. If the
pedals are accidentally rotated while the power is ON, failure to follow this procedure may
engage the propulsion system of the E-Bike causing the E-Bike to advance uncontrollably,
which could result in serious injury to yourself and damages to the E-Bike.
Always check the tire pressure before getting on your bike. Your tires should have the correct
amount of pressure as suggested by the manufacturer (the recommended pressure is shown
on the side of the tire). Insufficient tire pressure will reduce your battery’s range significantly.
Routinely check the condition of your E-Bike before every ride. Make sure nothing is loose.
Lift the front wheel off the ground by two or three inches, then let it bounce on the ground. If
anything sounds, feels or looks loose, have your E-Bike inspected by your dealer.
Check the brakes for proper operation before each ride. Disc brakes can get extremely hot
with extended use. Be careful not to touch a disc brake until it has had plenty of time to
cool down.
Always wear an approved helmet when riding your E-Bike and follow the helmet
manufacturer’s instructions for fit, use and care of your helmet. It is also recommended to
wear shoes that will stay on your feet and grip the pedals, bright visible clothing, and
protective eyewear.
It’s your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the laws of the areas where you ride, and to
comply with all applicable laws.
Do not ride in winter or wet weather conditions. Do not ride on rigorous off road trails. Avoid
all contact with salt, water, sand, and ice.

FEATURES OF YOUR MINELLI E-BIKE
There are 5 levels of power assistance. Always get on your E-Bike and be fully prepared to
start riding before turning on the power assistance. To turn on the power assistance and
throttle function, press the ON/OFF button on the display panel. To select levels of power
assistance, it is important to refer and read completely the E-Bike Display Users Manual
models KD51C or KM529 supplied with your E-Bike.
KD21-C KD51C KM529
Level 1
As you pedal, the motor starts and gives about 10% assistance; requiring some pedaling effort
at low speed.
Level 2
As you pedal, the motor starts and gives about 25% assistance; requiring less pedaling effort
at low to medium speed.
Level 3
As you pedal, the motor starts and gives about 50% assistance; requiring less pedaling effort
while traveling up hill or into a headwind.
Level 4
As you pedal, the motor starts and gives about 75% assistance; being quite helpful as you go
up a good-sized hill or into a strong headwind.
Level 5
As you pedal, the motor starts and gives about 100% power; making it much easier to go up
steep hills or move forward against strong headwinds.
Your MINELLI E-Bike is also equipped with a left thumb activated throttle which powers the
motor independently of pedaling assistance.
As soon as you use the brakes, the motor turns off automatically and the chosen functions are
deactivated.

!
4!
When using the power assistance or throttle, you must stay in control of your E-Bike. Do not
exceed a reasonable speed given your surroundings and riding conditions. It is not
recommended to select higher levels of assistance in areas of traffic or other obstacles.

CHARGING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE BATTERY
There are 4 lights on the side of the battery indicating the level of charge.
The battery’s level of charge is also indicated on the Control Panel.
THE BATTERY MUST BE CHARGED AT LEAST EVERY TWO MONTHS.
IT IS ESSENTIAL TO NEVER LEAVE THE BATTERY CONNECTED TO THE CHARGER
FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS.
SHOULD THESE INSTRUCTIONS NOT BE FOLLOWED, THERE IS A RISK OF BATTERY
MALFUNCTION AND THIS WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THE LIMITED WARRANTY.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE BATTERY BE CHARGED?
It is recommended to charge the battery as needed. For instance, if you only use your E-Bike
during brief periods of time and for short rides, the battery may be recharged following several
such rides. If, on the other hand, you are planning a long ride of 40 km / 25 miles or more, it is
recommended to fully charge your battery before leaving. Generally speaking, if the battery
charge indicator on the handlebar or on the battery indicates there is less than a 50% charge
remaining, charging the battery is recommended. Otherwise, the lifetime of your battery will be
reduced.
During the long periods when you will not be using your E-Bike, after charging it
completely for 8 hours, store the battery in a warm environment; 5 to 25 degrees Celsius (if
necessary, see below for removing the battery from the bicycle). Afterward, you must
charge your battery one hour each month, or for two hours every two months.
Otherwise, the lifetime of your battery will be reduced.
To remove the battery from the E-Bike, unlock the battery by inserting the key into battery lock
on lower left side of battery support rack. Pull the battery out of the rear rack. Re-insert the
battery the same way. Be absolutely sure to re-lock the battery in place by closing the key
lock and removing key, before riding the E-Bike.
IMPORTANT: NEVER LEAVE THE BATTERY CONNECTED TO THE CHARGER
AND TO AN ELECTRICAL POWER OUTLET FOR MORE THAN 24 HOURS
(DURING THE WHOLE WINTER FOR INSTANCE). THIS WILL DAMAGE YOUR
BATTERY AND YOUR CHARGER. THIS MUST ABSOLUTELY BE AVOIDED.
While charging the battery please follow the following steps in order:
1) Connect the charger cable output plug into battery input socket.
2) Connect the charger cable input plug into city electrical output socket.
3) When the green light is lighted, the battery is fully charged.
4) Disconnect the plug from the city electrical output socket and then disconnect the charger
cable from the battery. Replace the rubber dust protector on the battery so it fits snuggly in
place.
Use only the original battery and charger supplied with your MINELLI E-Bike.
Never expose the battery or the charger to heat.
Never dismantle or modify the battery or the charger.

!
6!
Do not expose the battery or the charger to liquids.
Do not use a damaged battery or charger.
Stop use of the battery and charger if they emit an unusual odour, become hotter than usual or
if something seems abnormal.
Never leave the battery and charger where children can reach them.
Never touch the battery or charger with wet hands.
As part of your E-Bike maintenance, take the battery and charger back to the dealer for
examination.
Never use the battery and charger for any use other than the one for which they have been
designed.
MAINTENANCE
Your E-bike must be checked periodically by the dealer, as general maintenance is essential
for prolonging the useful life cycle of the E-Bike.
Individual maintenance requirements will be determined by everything from your riding style to
geographic location. Consult your dealer for help in determining your maintenance
requirements.
WARNING: Service and repairs to your E-Bike require special knowledge and tools. Do not
begin any adjustments or service on your electric bicycle if you have the slightest doubt about
your ability to properly complete them. Improper adjustment or service may result in damage to
the bicycle or an accident, which can cause serious injury or death.
If your bike sustains an impact, it is essential that you take your E-bike to your dealer for a
thorough inspection.
