Card reader security guidelines
Your reader is tamper-proof to ensure that card details and PINs are pro-
cessed securely. Please inspect your device and ensure that you follow these
security guidelines, so that no illegal activities can be undertaken with your
device.
Your card reader would have arrived within sealed packaging.
Please ensure the packaging was intact and was not opened
beforehand.
Please check and make a note of your serial number found on the
back of the device (note the last 3 digits of the serial number will
display in the Bluetooth menu during connection).
Visually inspect your device regularly to ensure it does not show
any marks potentially caused by an illegal attempt to open the
plastic case.
Ensure your device is only used by trusted staff and not left
unattended. Lock away devices that are not in use.
Only use secure PINs or passwords to access payment.
Encourage all users of your devices to read and follow these
guidelines.
Never try to repair or open up a faulty device yourself, but return
it for inspection.
If the terminal identifies a tamper attempt during usage, the
terminal will immediately close the payment application aborting
any transaction in progress. The tamper state is indicated on the
display by **SYSTEM TAMPERED**.
The device will also automatically perform a security check every
24 hours. A suspected tampered device should be returned for
investigation.
