The Mint mPOS merchant portal is where you’ll manage all aspects of Mint
mPOS for your business. You can view transactions, set up Mobile Users and
manage your account settings.
We recently sent you an email containing your username and temporary
password. The email also contains a link to allow you to complete your first
time login to the Mint mPOS merchant portal. Once you enter your username
and temporary password we will send an activation code to your mobile
phone to finalise the process.
If you haven’t already done so, click on the link within the email.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration
process.

Set up your Mobile Users
The Mint mPOS app lets you process transactions using your Mint mPOS
reader and your smartphone or tablet.
Before you can use the Mint mPOS app you need to set up your Mobile Us-
ers. Even if you’re the only person using Mint mPOS in your business, you
need to set yourself up as follows:
Login to the Mint mPOS merchant portal.
From the home screen, navigate to Mobile Users then to Add a
Mobile User.
Enter relevant information in each of the fields then click Submit.
An email will be sent to the Mobile User containing a username
and temporary PIN. When they first log into the portal an
activation code will be sent to their mobile phone. This activation
code will be needed the first time you log into the Mint mPOS
app. You’ll be asked to change your PIN during this process.
You should also set up any staff members who you wish to use Mint mPOS.
Simply repeat the process above, entering the details for each new Mobile
User.
Download the Mint mPOS app.
To do this, search for Mint mPOS in the App Store or Google Play.

Set up your Mint mPOS Reader
Power on your card reader using the power button on the top of
the device. Make sure the reader is charged by connecting a USB
cable for at least 3 hours before using it for the first time.
Press and hold the Enter button until the Bluetooth icon in
the top left starts to flash.
Go to Bluetooth settings on your Smartphone/tablet and look
for the Mint mPOS device. There will be 3 numbers following it.
These are the last 3 digits of the serial number, which can be
found on the back of the Mint mPOS Reader.
If successfully found, both your Mint mPOS reader and your
Smartphone/tablet will display a random 6-digit number. Confirm
the 6-digit number on your Mint mPOS reader
by pressing Enter

Taking a payment for the first time
Log into the Mint mPOS app on your smartphone or tablet.
Enter your username and PIN.
Turn on your Mint mPOS reader and ensure it is connected to
your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth.
Enter the transaction amount and press Pay. Press OK to confirm
the amount.
Direct the customer to present card to the reader and follow the
prompts:
• To change how the card will be presented, select either Tap or
Insert/Swipe from the mobile App.
The customer may need to enter their PIN or provide their
signature to complete the transaction.
• Where the customer is prompted for PIN, have them follow the
prompt and press Enter.
• Press Signature Verified if signature matches the one on the
back of the card, and enter your signature verification code on the
next screen.
• This is set to ‘0000’ for all Mobile Users. You can change this at
any time in the app settings menu of the app.
Once the transaction is complete, you can send a receipt via
SMS or email.
You can refund a sale by selecting Refund from the app menu
and entering the invoice number which can be found on the
transaction receipt.

Card reader security guidelines
Your reader is tamper-proof to ensure that card details and PINs are pro-
cessed securely. Please inspect your device and ensure that you follow these
security guidelines, so that no illegal activities can be undertaken with your
device.
Your card reader would have arrived within sealed packaging.
Please ensure the packaging was intact and was not opened
beforehand.
Please check and make a note of your serial number found on the
back of the device (note the last 3 digits of the serial number will
display in the Bluetooth menu during connection).
Visually inspect your device regularly to ensure it does not show
any marks potentially caused by an illegal attempt to open the
plastic case.
Ensure your device is only used by trusted staff and not left
unattended. Lock away devices that are not in use.
Only use secure PINs or passwords to access payment.
Encourage all users of your devices to read and follow these
guidelines.
Never try to repair or open up a faulty device yourself, but return
it for inspection.
If the terminal identifies a tamper attempt during usage, the
terminal will immediately close the payment application aborting
any transaction in progress. The tamper state is indicated on the
display by **SYSTEM TAMPERED**.
The device will also automatically perform a security check every
24 hours. A suspected tampered device should be returned for
investigation.
