use.
•This clipper is to be used on horses and cattle only and must never be
used on people.
•Only ever use the clipper if it is undamaged and in good condition.
•Never use a battery that is damaged or wet. Failure to do so may result in
an electric shock, fire and/or cause serious injury.
•This clipper is NOT to be used by children under the age of 16.
WARNING: Never leave a battery charging unattended and always
unplug the charger from the mains when the battery is charged. Always
ensure that the battery is being charged on a non-flammable surface.

3. Using The Clippers
3.1 Operating Notes
It is essential that these clippers are operated properly and that the user is experienced
in handling the animal being clipped. Anyone using these clipper must have read the
instruction manual or been advised by an expert on how to use a heavy duty horse
clipper and understand the potential dangers.
There are inherent dangers when using any kind of electrical equipment, especially
when using on animals. Therefore, you should take note of the following accident
prevention measures before using your clippers:
•The mains voltage must be the same as shown on the battery charger.
•The charging unit should only be connected to an AC supply.
•Never clip wet animals.
•Even when the clipper is switched off, do not touch the blades as long as the
machine has the battery pack inserted.
•Avoid touching the clipper if it has been in contact with any liquid.
•If any liquid has got into your clipper this can lower the electrical insulation and
increase the risk of an electric shock or short circuit.
•Keep the clippers away from hot surfaces as this may result in breaks and
damage to the insulation.
•Wear suitable clothes for clipping, overalls are ideal.
•Do not wear any loose fitting clothing or items of jewellery which could
get caught up in in the blades.
•The noise from a heavy duty clipper can be loud and may frighten the
animal you are clipping. Make sure that the animal is securely tethered
and always approach it from the front. Switch the clipper on within the
animals’ range of vision.
•Only clip in well ventilated areas and never near objects or gases that are
likely to explode.
•Never turn on the clipper unless the blades are fitted.
•Do not put the clipper or clipper head into any liquids, as this can cause serious
injury to the internal components including the motor.

3.2 Tensioning
Your clippers have been factory set so you can start clipping immediately.
When you need to re-tension your clippers, screw the tension nut down tight
and then give it approximately 2 turns back, anticlockwise. Care should be
taken to ensure that the blade tension is not set too high.
Test the clippers to see how they are working and if they are not cutting
correctly, you may need to slightly adjust the tension.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Care should be taken to ensure that the blade tension is not set too high on
your clippers. If the tension is too tight, this can put the motor under pressure
which can cause increased friction and heat throughout the clipper and
blades.
TOP TIP:
It is always best to run your clippers at the lowest tension possible at which
the clipper runs effectively, as this will give the clippers and blades optimum
longevity.

3.3 Lubrication
Before and During Clipping
It is very important to keep your clippers well lubricated at all times. Before you
start to clip, run some oil along the front and sides of the clipper blades and a
few drops in the oiling holes on the head of the clipper. Whilst clipping, it is
recommended that you lubricate every 5-10 minutes. This should be done with
clipper oil or specialist blade care sprays.
WARNING:
Do not use WD40 as it leaves a residue on the blades and clipper which will
cause long term damage to your clippers.

3.4 Charging the battery
•Plug the battery charger into the correct AC voltage source.
•The charging light will then go green.
•Insert the battery pack so that the plus and minus terminals on the battery
cartridge are on the same sides as their respective markings on the charger.
•Insert the battery pack into the charging unit.
•When the battery pack is inserted, the charging light will change from green to red
and charging will begin.
•The charging light will remain lit during charging.
•When the charging light changes from red to green, the charging is complete.
•After charging, unplug the charger from the mains power.
•A full charge takes between 2 and 3 hours.
WARNING: Never leave a battery charging unattended and always
unplug the charger from the mains when the battery is charged. Always
ensure that the battery is being charged on a non-flammable surface.
•The battery charging unit is to be used only with the batteries for the Masterclip
HD Roamer. Never use it for other manufacturer’s batteries.
•When you charge a new battery pack or one that has not been used for a long
period of time, it may not accept a full charge. This is normal and does not indicate
a problem. You can recharge the battery pack after discharging it completely and
recharge a couple of times.
•If you try to charge a battery that has just been used or has been in direct sunlight,
the charging light may flash up red. If this occurs, wait for the battery to cool
down, then the charging can begin. The battery pack will cool faster if you remove
the battery from the charging unit.
•If the charging light flashes green and red, then there is a problem and the battery
won’t charge. Check that the terminals on the charger and battery pack are clean
and free from any dust or dirt and check that the battery pack is not damaged.
WARNING: Never use a battery that is damaged or wet. Failure to do
so may result in an electric shock, fire and/or cause serious injury.

3.5 Changing the battery
Removing the battery
Always make sure that the clipper is switched off before removing the battery.
Press the clips in either side of the battery pack and pull away from the clipper to
release the battery.
Inserting the battery
To insert the battery, align the tongue on the battery pack with the grooves in the
clipper housing and slide into the clipper until it clicks into place.
If the battery pack does not lock securely into position it may fall out and either cause
an injury or damage the battery unit. If the battery does not slide in easily, it is probably
not aligned correctly. Never force the battery in to the clipper, if it is not aligned
properly, remove the battery, re align and slide it back in.
A full charge lasts approximately 1.5 - 2 hours. This is however dependant on the type of
coat that is being clipped, as well as the density and cleanliness of the hair.

3.6 Changing the Blades
•Make sure that the power switch is turned off and the battery pack is removed from
the clipper before changing the blade.
•Turn the tension nut anticlockwise to remove the nut and spring, then slide out the
tension bolt. The blades can then be removed and new blades fitted.
•Once the new blades have been inserted, slide the tension bolt through the back
blade, putting the spring and tension nut back on to the clipper.
•Screw the tension nut down until tight, then give it approximately 2 turns
back, anticlockwise.
•Care should be taken to ensure that the blade tension is not set too high
on your clippers. If the tension is too tight, the blades can heat up with
increased friction.
•Before you start to clip, run a line of clipper oil on the blades and the oiling
holes on the clipper head, then they are ready to use.
•Only use blades which are designed for this clipper and do not use blunt
blades or blades that have broken teeth. NEVER touch the blades when in
operation.
NOTE: Always ensure that your blades are free from any dirt otherwise they will
not clip properly. Even the smallest of rust spots will result in a poor clip.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
It is always best to run your clippers at the lowest tension possible at which the
clipper runs effectively as this will give the clippers and blades optimum
longevity.

4. Looking After Your Clippers
Always ensure that the battery pack is removed when working on the clipper or blades.
4.1 Cleaning
When you have finished clipping, carefully clean the clipper head and blades
with a dry brush, then oil the parts to prevent rusting. Remove any excess oil
from the clipper and blades with a dry cloth.
4.2 Blade sharpening
Only ever use sharp blades on your clipper and replace blunt blades or those
with missing teeth. Blade sharpening should only be carried out by a special
machine used by a trained technician. Blades should never be sharpened by
hand.
4.3 Storing the clippers
Your clippers should be stored in their carry case and in a dry place out of the
reach of children. After use you should brush off any loose hairs from the
clipper and blades.
Remove the blades and give them a thorough clean making sure that you oil
them before putting them back on to the clipper. Always leave the tension loose
when the clippers are not in use.
NOTE: Never leave your clipper blades without oil after cleaning otherwise you
may find your blades will rust. Rusty blades do not give a good clip and reduce
the longevity of your blades.
WARNING: Never use your clipper if any liquid or moisture has got in to
the box or clipper as this could cause an electric shock or short circuit.

4.4 Maintenance of the rechargeable batteries
•Only ever use genuine Masterclip batteries with this clipper.
•The battery must be placed in a well ventilated area during charging.
•Do not charge the battery inside a box or container of any kind.
•Always store the batteries in a dry place where temperatures do not exceed 50°C,
122°F.
•Do not expose the battery unit to water as it could short out and cause
overheating when in use.
•Do not touch the terminals with any conductive material and avoid storing the
battery near other metal objects such as nails, coins, etc.
•If the usage time becomes excessively shorter, stop using the battery unit.
•Do not remove the batteries from the battery housing.
WARNING: Never use a battery that is damaged or wet. Failure to do
so may result in an electric shock, fire and/or cause serious injury.
4.5 The charging unit
•Make sure that the charging unit is used in an area where it is not hazardous,
ensuring that the cable does not get tangled and is not used or stored near water.
Only charge off the mains power and do not charge a battery in the charger when
the temperature is below 0°C (40°F) or above 40°C (104°F).
•Do not cover the charger vents on the unit when charging and do not use
if the charger has a damaged cord or plug. This charging unit is not to be
used by children.
•Only ever use an undamaged power socket when charging the batteries
in the charging unit.
•If there are any problems with the charging unit, cable or plug, please
contact Masterclip.
NOTE: If you use a defective plug or socket, this can cause an electrical shock
or short circuit.
