Health and Safety
•WARNING: Whenever the cleaner is in use, due to
the risk of entrapment in rotating parts, keep loose
clothing, hair, fingers etc. away from the brush bar,
nozzle and any hand-held accessories.
•WARNING: Disconnect from the mains supply
before carrying out any routine maintenance, such
as cleaning any blockages, changing any filters or
accessing the floor nozzle.
•This appliance can be used by children aged from 8
years and above and persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience
and knowledge, if they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a
safe way and understand the hazards involved.
•Children shall not play with the appliance.
•Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made
by children without supervision.
Personal safety
• WARNING: Only lift the product by the handle (1).
•Always disconnect the appliance from the mains supply
after use.
•Never use in the presence of explosive liquid or
vapours.
•Never suck up water or inflammable or poisonous
liquids such as petrol, copier toner or other volatile
substances. Never pick up acids, asbestos or asbestos
dust.
•Never touch the plug or power cord with wet hands.
•Do not immerse the plug, power cord or cleaner in water
or other liquid.
•The appliance must never be left running unsupervised.
Location
•Do not use or keep this product outside.
•Do not store the appliance near hot surfaces eg. ovens
or heating appliances.
Mains cable
•If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by
the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified
person to avoid a hazard.
•Do not allow the mains lead to become strained or run
this appliance over it.
Product safety
•Never use the appliance without the filters being
installed.
•Never use the appliance to vacuum hot ashes, broken
glass, sharp objects or liquids.
•Use only Morphy Richards spare parts and accessories.
•Never modify the cleaner in any way.
•Repairs to electrical appliances are only to be
undertaken by trained professionals. Unprofessional
repairs can be dangerous for users.
Electrical requirements
•Check that the voltage on the rating plate of your
appliance corresponds with your house electricity
supply which must be A.C. (Alternating Current).
•Should the fuse in the mains plug require changing, a 13
amp BS1362 fuse must be fitted.

Operating / Assembly

Push the hose connector (12) fully into the hose
inlet (4) on the vacuum cleaner.
To remove, squeeze the release buttons and
pull out.

The metal telescopic tube (17) may be adjusted
in length by pressing down the telescopic tube
release button (16). When cleaning floors, the
telescopic tube should be fully extended and the
tube extension (18) should be fitted between the
hose handle (15) and the telescopic tube.
Attach the required accessory to the end of the
telescopic tube.

Always pull out the power cord to its maximum
length. Plug the appliance into the mains supply.
Push the On/Off button (9) to start the motor.
IMPORTANT: Ensure that the appliance is
never left unattended whilst it is switched on.

The suction power can be adjusted using the
suction power dial (10) or the suction control (14)
on the hose handle (15).
Closed: full suction
Open: reduced suction

During short breaks in cleaning, the metal
telescopic tube (17) can be held in an upright,
‘standby’ position. Rotate the combination floor
nozzle (19) or the turbo nozzle (21) until the lug
on the neck can be fitted into the tube standby
slot on the rear of the appliance, whilst you
move furniture for instance.

When you have finished vacuum clean ing, switch
off the appliance. Remove the plug from the
mains supply and rewind the power cord using
the automatic cable rewind button (11).
WARNING: When using the automatic cable
rewind button, always hold the plug as the
power cord will rewind quickly.

Floor nozzles and tools
The crevice tool (23) or the upholstery nozzle (24)
may be fitted directly to the hose handle (15) or
at the end of the tube extension (18) or metal
telescopic tube (17).
The upholstery nozzle (24) , crevice tool (23) and
dusting brush attachment (22) are all stored
on-board. ift the tool store cover to access. To
use the dusting brush, attach to the end of the
crevice nozzle.
Unwind the power cord and plug in to the mains outlet as in step 3 of ‘Operating / Assembly’, page 5.

Tube extension (18)
Always use the extension tube (18) with the
telescopic tube (17) when cleaning floors. The
extension tube (18) may also be used between
the tools and hose handle to increase the reach
of the tools.
Combination floor nozzle (19)
Press the rear of the brush adjustment switch (20)
down to lower the brushes for use on hard-floors.
Press the front of the brush adjustment switch
down, to lift the brushes for use on carpets.
Turbo nozzle (21) (certain models only)
The turbo nozzle (21) is especially useful for
cleaning hairs, fluff and fibre from carpets. Always
set the suction to maximum when using the turbo
nozzle.
Attach the turbo nozzle to the telescopic tube
(17) for floor cleaning or to the hose handle (15)
for stair cleaning.
With use, hairs and fibres may become wrapped
around the rotating brush and may impair its
performance. To remove these hairs and fibres,
first switch off the cleaner, remove the turbo
nozzle from the telescopic tube or hose handle,
turn the turbo nozzle upside down and then
carefully cut through the fibres to allow them to
be pulled from the brush.
IMPORTANT: When the turbo nozzle is attached
to the cleaner, keep the nozzle on the floor.
Make sure people and pets do not come into
contact with the rotating brush. Also keep the
brush away from loose fabrics etc which may
be pulled-in and entangled by the brush.
Rotating the suction power dial (10)
anti-clockwise reduces the suction power for the
cleaning of delicate objects and fabrics. Turn
clockwise for maximum suction for flooring. The
centre ECO setting may be used for general
cleaning, eg. furniture and upholstery.
The suction power may also be controlled in use
by using the hose handle suction control (14).
To increase safety when the cleaner is used on
stairs, the wheels will not rotate backwards when
the front of the cleaner is lifted. However, users
should always keep hold of the cleaner when
cleaning stairs. When the cleaner is horizontal,
the wheels will rotate in both directions.

If, with just the hose attached, and the product
switched on at maximum, this indicator shows
red, the bag is full and must be replaced.
The dust bag full indicator (5) senses when the
air-flow is restricted and it may show red
intermittently during use if the hose-end or nozzle
is temporarily blocked, this is normal.
If the indicator shows consistently red and the
dust bag does not appear full, check the nozzles,
hose and tube for potential blockages.
Changing the dust bag
1.Open the dust bag compartment lid (3) by
pressing the open button (2) and lifting the lid up
until it locks into the open position.
2. ift the dust bag holder handle and then lift the
holder with dust bag from the cleaner.
3. To remove the dust bag from the holder, slide the
cardboard collar side-ways.
4.Fold over the flap to cover the hole in the dust
bag.
5. Dispose of the dust bag in your normal household
waste.
Replacing the dust bag
1. To fit a new dust bag, slide the cardboard collar
of the new dust bag into the slots of the holder.
The straight end of the collar must be slid in first,
so that the cardboard closure tab is on the same
side as the red safety lock, when the holder is
refitted into the cleaner.
2. Slide the holder with bag, into its location slots at
the front of the cleaner.
Replacement dust bags may be purchased from
our Helpline or Website. It is important that only
genuine Morphy Richards replacement dust-bags
are used, otherwise the performance of the
cleaner could be seriously impaired.
NOTE: It is very important the dust bag is fitted
the correct way around.
The red safety-lock mechanism ensures that the
dust bag compartment lid can never be closed
without a dust bag fitted. A dust bag must be
fitted to allow the lid to close.

After use, the product may be stored vertically.
Make sure the cord is fully rewound and the
telescopic tube (17) is retracted to the minimum
size. Attach the floor nozzle parking hook into the
slot on the bottom of cleaner to hold the
hose/tube assembly.
The guarantee may be invalidated if the motor is
damaged due to: using the appliance without
the filters installed; not cleaning the filters; or
not replacing damaged filters.
Cleaning the motor protection filter
Whenever the dust bag is changed, the motor
protection filter must be checked and cleaned.
This is especially important if there has been a
leak/tear in the dust bag and dust has entered
the dust bag compartment.
This filter is located inside the dust bag / filters
compartment, next to the dust bag (to access,
see point 1 of ‘Changing the dust bag’ on page
8).
1. Pull the tab at the top of the filter cage to open
the cage and access the filter.
2. To clean, shake the filter thoroughly.
After 5 dust-bag changes, the filter must be
replaced with a new filter. If the filter is not
cleaned and regularly replaced the performance
will be impaired.
IMPORTANT:Never use the cleaner without the
motor protection filter fitted.
5. Return the motor protection filter to its housing
and replace back into the vacuum cleaner,
ensuring the motor protection filter cage is
securely in place.
Changing the exhaust filter
The exhaust filter must be checked every time
the dust bag is replaced. We recommend
changing after every five dust bag changes.
This filter is located inside the dust bag
compartment, above the motor protection filter
(to access, see point 1 of ‘Changing the dust bag’
on page 8).
To replace, lift the filter from its location and then
refit the new filter.
The product has lost suction power
Check the settings of the suction power dial (10)
and the hose handle suction control (14).
Check the dust bag, if fine dust has been sucked
up, eg. talcum powder or plaster dust, this will
quickly block the pores of the dust bag so the
dust bag will need to be replaced even though it
may not appear full.
Check the motor protection filter. Clean or replace
as necessary.
Check the hose, tube and nozzles for any
blockage. Operate the product with/without each
item to note if there is any difference in the
suction/sound caused by hidden blockages, eg.
in the hose. Clear the blockage to restore full
suction power.
The floor nozzle seems hard to push or
sticks to the floor
Check the pedal on the combination floor nozzle
(19) is set for the correct floor type, ie. brushes up
for carpets, brushes down for hard-floors.
Check the suction power dial (10) is set to the
appropriate setting.
The wheels do not seem to rotate

Cleaning and maintenance
Unplug from the mains supply before cleaning.
The vacuum cleaner, especially the dust canister
and all accessories, can be cleaned using a damp
cloth or a non-abrasive domestic cleaner and
wiped dry.
To keep the underside of the combination floor
nozzle (19) clean, vacuum it at regular intervals
using the crevice tool (23).

be purchased from specialist retailers or by
calling our spare parts helpline number:
