Cyclonic bagless
upright vacuum cleaner
Please read and keep these instructions
Dust canister
It is important to regularly empty the canister, even if it does not appear full.
Filters
It is important that the pleated filter is shaken clean each time the dust canister is emptied,
this allows air through the appliance. Wash the canister filters regularly in warm water and
allow to air dry.
Blockages
Check the hose, tubes and tools for blockages.
Safety cut-out
If the air-flow is blocked or the filters are not regularly cleaned, a thermostat may operate.
If this happens, switch off and disconnect from the mains supply. Clear any blockage,
empty and clean the filters. Allow 60 minutes for the thermostat to reset.
Belt
Check and replace damaged or broken belt.
Height adjustment
The height adjustment only comes into effect when the handle is released by the handle
release pedal.

Product safety
• Never use the appliance

installed.

before attempting to upright.
• Never pick the cleaner up by
the floor nozzle when

Children

children to use this
appliance.
• Children should be
supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the
appliance, or stumble over
the power cord.
Electrical
requirements
Check that the voltage on the
rating plate of your appliance
corresponds with your house
electricity supply which must
be A.C. (Alternating current).
If the socket outlets in your
home are not suitable for the
plug supplied with this
appliance, the plug should
be removed and the
appropriate one fitted.
WARNING: The plug
removed from the mains
lead, if severed, must be
destroyed, as a plug with
a bared flexible cord is
hazardous if engaged
into a live socket outlet.
Should the fuse in the 13
amp plug require changing, a
13 amp BS1362 fuse must
be fitted.

OPERATING THE
APPLIANCE
Assembly A
WARNING: Do not plug in the
cleaner until it is assembled.
1Carefully unpack all of the
components.
2Lift the cleaner body to the
upright position.
3Remove the two screws that are
already attached to the body.
4From the rear of the cleaner, align
the handle with the groove and
slide into the body. If necessary,
use thumb and finger pressure to
slide the handle into position.
5Fasten the handle with the two
screws.
Floor nozzle
height adjustment B
Before using the cleaner, the floor
nozzle height fi must be set to
the correct height.
Choose the setting which most
closely matches your floor
surface.
• Use the TOOLS setting when
using the tools.
Note: The height adjustment only
comes into effect when the
handle is released by the handle
release pedal Í.
Eco Switch C
The Eco Switch ⁄ allows you to
turn down the power when
cleaning more delicate items,
such as curtains and upholstery,
saving energy and reducing costs.
Using on carpets
1Place the cleaner in it’s upright
position.
2Set the carpet height adjustment
knob fi to the desired position.
3Release the mains cable by
revolving the quick release cleat
‚half-a-turn and extend the
cable fully.
4Plug the cable into the mains
socket.
5Step on the handle release pedal
Í to release the handle to the
desired position.
6Press the on/off switch „ to the
‘on’ position.
IMPORTANT: To prevent damage
to carpets, never leave the cleaner
switched on in one place for an
extended period.
• Never have the brushes set too
low such that the cleaner is hard
to push.
Using the
attachments
Follow steps 1-4but set the
carpet height adjustment knob to
the TOOLS setting.
5Remove the hose connector Î
from the rear of the cleaner. Lift
the hose ·from the top handle
hook. Insert the hose clip Ëinto
the hose clip slot È.
• Push the required attachment
firmly onto the end of the hose.
• If additional length is required,
attach one or both extension
tubes Â.

• IMPORTANT: Always fix the hose
clip Ëto the main body slot È
when using the hose and tools.
• Never over extend the hose such
that the cleaner is pulled over.
IMPORTANT: Turning the cleaner
sideways helps prevent the
cleaner being pulled along by the
stretch hose.
Using the hardfloor
nozzle
Attach the hardfloor nozzle Ûto
the two separate attachable
tubes.
This nozzle is ideal for use on
wood, laminate, tile and vinyl
flooring.
Using & cleaning the
turbo nozzle
Attach the turbo nozzle Úto the
hose end connector Î only. For
use on upholstery and stairs.
WARNING: The turbo nozzle
should not be used with the
extension tubes. Attach to
the hose handle only.
Following use, your turbo nozzle
may become clogged. Ensure the
vacuum cleaner is switched off
and the turbo nozzle is detached
from the hose. Turn over the
nozzle and pull away any hairs or
fibres. If they are tightly wound
around the brush, carefully snip
the fibres with scissors, being
careful not to damage the brush
bar, pull away from the brush bar
and dispose.
To aid cleaning, the turbo nozzle
can be opened up by pushing the
button on the nozzle forwards.
Using the accessories
Attach the crevice nozzle Ê to
the hose end connector Î or
tubes  to access narrow or
hard to reach places.
Attach the furniture brush Á to
the hose end connector Î or
tubes for use on pelmets,
delicate objects etc.
Attach the stair tool Ù to the
hose end connector Î for
effective stair cleaning D.
Attach the hair tool ı to the stair
tool Ù for fantastic pet hair
pick-up D.
Attach the soft dusting brush ˆ
to the stair tool Ù for a softer
pick-up D.
Attach the stubborn dirt brush ˜
to the stair tool Ù to attack
stubborn ground in dirt D.
Attach the upholstery nozzle ¯
to the stair tool Ù for effective
upholstery cleaning D.
EMPTYING
Empty the dust canister regularly
even if it does not look full, this
will maintain the performance.
1Remove the front cover ‹ by
lifting the cover release lever ¤

3Take the canister to the dustbin.
4Turn the lid quarter-of-a-turn
anti-clockwise to unlock, lift off
the lid with pleated filter Ó, put to

Brush clean if necessary.

7Re-fit the central mesh filter.
8Shake the pleated filter Ó to
remove all dust.
9Re-fit pleated filter with lid into the
dust canister by lining up the two
arrows and turning the lid quarter-
of-a-turn clockwise to lock.
10 Re-fit dust canister into cleaner
and push to lock into position.
11 Re-fit the front cover.
SAFETY CUT-OUT
If the cleaner overheats, a motor
protection thermostat will
automatically switch the motor off.
If this happens, switch the
cleaner off, unplug from the
power supply and leave the
cleaner to cool for at least 60
minutes. Check the airways for
blockages, empty the dust
canister and clean the filters
before restarting.
CLEANING THE
FILTERS
To maintain suction, the
pleated filter Ó must be
shaken clean each time the
dust canister is emptied.
Failure to clean the filter will
reduce suction and could damage
the motor if used for a prolonged
period. This may invalidate the
guarantee. If the filters become
damaged, they must be replaced.
Pleated filter
Clean the pleated filter every time
the canister is emptied to
maintain high performance . To
thoroughly clean it, wash it
regularly.
To remove it from the dust
canister lid, turn the filter quarter-
of-a-turn anti-clockwise H. Wash
in warm water (no detergent) and
allow to air dry before refitting.
Motor protection filter
I
The motor protection filter ˘is
located underneath the dust
canister.
1Remove the dust canister.
2Lift out the filter and shake over a
dustbin.
The filter may also be washed in
water (no detergents). Allow the
filter to air dry. Ensure the filter is
thoroughly dry before refitting.
3Replace the filter I.
Exhaust filter J
The exhaust filter is located below
the dust canister compartment.
1Remove the front cover ‹.
2Remove the exhaust filter ◊by
pulling forward at the top and
lifting it away.
3Take the filter out of the cage and
shake vigorously over a dustbin.
The filter may also be washed in
warm water. Do not use
detergents. The filter must be
completely dry before re-fitting.
Allow filters to air dry naturally.
4Replace the filter and the front
cover.
Changing the belt
If the brush bar stops rotating, it is
likely that the drive belt has
snapped (usually because the
brush has been stalled). A spare
belt is supplied. Replacement
belts can also be obtained from
Morphy Richards by calling the
helpline number at the base of the
page.
Accessing the floor

1Disconnect the cleaner from the
mains supply.
2Put the switch to the ‘off’ position.
3Remove the front cover and the
dust canister.

4Press the handle release pedal
and place the cleaner face down,
in a flat position on a soft surface
(eg. carpet).
5Using a flat bladed screwdriver or
a coin, rotate the three cover
fixings, a quarter-of-a-turn, from
lock to unlock K.
6Lift the base cover from the
rear fixing area first, the cover will
rotate forward. Unhook the cover
from the front edge and remove.
Removing rotating
brush & belt L,M
7Lift the metal belt guard out of
the floor nozzle and put it safely
to one side L.
8Slide the belt past the end of the
motor drive shaft . If the belt
has broken, remove all pieces and
clean the drive shaft.
9Lift the rotating brush equally
at both ends to slide it free of the
floor nozzle M. Holding the ends
of the brush, check it rotates
freely or not, if not, it must be
replaced. Call our Helpline for
replacement parts or belts.
Re-fitting rotating
brush & belt N
10 Hook the belt over the drive
shaft (the belt must be slid
sideways past the end of the drive
shaft). Note: The belt guard must
have been removed first, see
point 7 above.
11 Refit the belt guard, ensuring it is
correctly located. Press down
fully.
12 Pass the rotary brush through the
belt, ensuring the correct end is
located against the belt N.
13 Pull the brush forward (against the
pull of the belt) and locate the
square ends of the brush into
location slots in the floor nozzle
N.
14 Rotate the brush by hand to
ensure the belt is running in the
centre of it’s location on the
brush.
Refitting the floor
nozzle base cover O
15 Hook the base cover into the
front of the floor nozzle, ensuring
all four hooks are engaged O.
16 Rotating the cover downwards
and rearwards, slowly close the
cover.
17 Tighten the three fixings, using a
screwdriver to turn the fixings a
quarter-of-a-turn to the lock
position.
Note: If the cover will not fully
close or fixings will not lock, lift
the cover slightly and rotate the
fixings until they are in the correct
position for closure.
18 Return the cleaner to the upright
position, re-fit the dust canister
and front cover. Connect to the
mains supply. Switch on to test.

of any appliance proving to
be faulty within 28 days of
purchase, it should be
