Connecting to an HDTV

tighten witha quarter turn of a wrench. Too loose or too tight can cause problems.
HDMI is the preferred connection (if your HDTV has it). This combines digital
video and audio.
IEEE1394 is a digital connection for video and audio. It does not display on-screen
graphics, such as closed captions and program guides.
Component video (red, green, and blue connectors) is an analog video connection
that supports high-definition video formats. Requires separate audio connection.
Connect the coaxial cable securely to the Cable In connector. Either hand tighten or

If you are not using the HDMI combination video/audio connector,
the digital audio optical connector is the preferred audio connection
(if your entertainment system has it).
Digital audio coax input is next in the order of optimal performance.
Stereo L/R (red and white) connectors are the third choice, but will only
provide two-channel stereo audio even when tuned to a Dolby Digital 5.1
surround sound program.

** To play Dolby Digital 5.1 sound through the receiver, connect the DCH6416 or DCH6200 to the receiver using the DIGITAL AUDIO COAX or DIGITAL AUDIO OPTICAL connections.
Audio R and L connectors do not carry Dolby Digital 5.1. sound. Dolby Digital 5.1 is also available directly through the HDMI connection, if your A/V receiver and HDTV support HDMI.
Refer to your receiver and HDTV manuals for details.
*When connecting the video path, never connect the yellow composite video connector
and S-Video at the same time.
HDTV and Dolby Digital surround sound are not supported in this configuration.
