This User Guide provides you with all the information you need to get the
most from your phone.
Before you make your rst call you will need to set up your phone. Follow
the simple instructions in ‘Getting Started’, on the next few pages.

7Getting started
1. Getting started
IMPORTANT
Do not place yourTD1 in the bathroom or other humid areas.
Location
You need to place yourTD1 base within 2 metres ofthe mains power socket and telephone
wall socket so that the cables will reach.The socket-outlet should be installed near the
equipment and should be easily accessible.
Make sure it is at least 1 metre away from other electrical appliancesto avoid interference.
YourTD1 works by sending radio signals between the handset and base.The strength of
the signal depends on whereyou place the base. Putting it as high as possible ensures the
best signal.
HANDSET RANGE
The unit has a range of up to 300 metres outdoors when there is a clear line of sight
between the base and handset. Any obstruction between the base and handset will
reduce the range signicantly. With the base indoors and the handset either indoors or
outdoors, the range will normally be up to 50 metres. Thick concrete and stone walls can
severely aect the range.
SIGNAL STRENGTH
The icon on your handset indicates that you are within range of the base. When out
of range of the base, the icon disappears. If you are on a call, you will hear a warning
beep.
If you are on a call, the line will hang up if the handset moves out of range of the base.
Move back within range. The handset will automatically re-connect to the base.
Setting up
IMPORTANT
The base station must be plugged into the mains power at all times. Do not connect the
telephone line cord into the wall socket until the handset is fully charged. Use only the
power adaptor and telephone line cord supplied with the product.

1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked on the underside of the base.
2. Plug the poweradaptor into the socket marked on the underside of the base and
plug the other end into the mains powerwall socket. Switch on the mains power.
Installing and charging the handset
1. Remove the battery coverfrom the back of the handset and insert the rechargeable
Ni-MH battery cells supplied. Please note the ’+’and ’-’ markings inside the battery
compartment and insert in the correct direction.
2. Slide the batterycover back into place.
3. If you are charging the batteries for the rst time, place the handset on the base to
charge forat least 16 hours continuously.
4. When the handset is fullycharged, icon will appear steady on the display. Plug the
other end ofthe telephone line cord (make sure that one end is alreadyplugged into
the base) into the telephone wall socket.

Connecting the handset and charger
(for multi-pack only)
If you have purchased a multiple pack, you will need to carryout this process for all the
handsets and chargers.
1. Plug the poweradaptor into the socket marked on the underside of the charger
and plug the other end into the mains powerwall socket.
2. Remove the battery coverfrom the back of the handset and insert the 2 x AAA Ni-MH
rechargeable batteries supplied. Please note the ’+’ and ’-’markings inside the battery
compartment and insert in the correct direction.
3. Slide the batterycover back into place.
4. If you are charging the batteries for the rst time, place the handset on the charger to
charge forat least 16 hours continuously. When the handset is fully charged,the S
icon will appear steady on the display.
IMPORTANT
Warning! Use only the approved rechargeable Ni-MH battery cells (2 x AAA Ni-MH 550mA
rechargeable batteries) supplied with your TD1. Do not use alkaline or non rechargeable
batteries. It may cause permanent damage to the product and void the warranty.
BATTERY LOW WARNING
If you hear a warning beep every 2 minutes during a call, you will need to recharge the
handset before you can use it again.
When charging, the S icon will scroll on the display. Once charged scrolling will stop.
BATTERY PERFORMANCE
In ideal conditions, fully charged batteries should give up to 14 hours talk time or up to 220
hours standby time on a single charge.1
Note that new batteries do not reach their full capacity until they have been put to normal
use for several days.

To keep your batteries in the best condition, leave the handset o the base for a few hours
at a time.
Running the batteries right down at least once a week will help them last as long as
possible.
The charge capacity of the rechargeable battery will reduce with time as it wears out,
giving the handset less talk / standby time. Eventually it will need to be replaced.
After charging your handset for the rst time, subsequent charging time is about 6–8 hours
a day. Batteries and the handset may become warm during charging. This is normal.

Setting up your TD1
Date and time
If you have subscribed to a CallerID Service and Auto Clock is set to on (see page 32),
the date and time is set automaticallyfor all handsets whenyou receiveyour rst call. If
Auto Clock is set to othe time and date does not set automatically.
If you do not have a Caller ID service,you can set the date and time manually.
NOTE
In either case the year has to be manually set.
1. Press M, scroll dto Clock/Alarm and press M.
2. Date & Time is displayed. Press M.
3. Enterthe date using the format DD-MM-YY e.g. 27/08/16 for27 August 2016 and press
M.
4. Enter the time using the 24 hour format HH:MM , e.g. 14:45 for 02.45pm and press M.
5. Press eto return to standby.
Your TD1 is now ready for use.

A Paging key
Paging is a useful wayto nd lost handsets.
1. Press pon the base.
All handsets ring.
2. Press pagain to cancel the paging call or press anykey on the handset to stop the
paging call.

The basic steps of navigating through the menu and on-screen options.
1. From the standbyscreen, press M.
The main menu is opened.
2. Use the top of the navigational button (u)to scroll up and the bottom (d)
to scroll down through the menu.
3. Soft key options OK and are displayed.
Press Mto select OK and open a sub-menu or validate an option.
Press bto go back to previous menu level, correct a character orcancel an action.
4. Press eto return to standby.
NOTE
If you do not press any button on the handset for 30 seconds the display will automatically
return to standby. It will also return to standby when the handset is placed on the base or
charger.

3.1 Make a call
1. Press t.
2. Dial the telephone number.
3.2 Pre-dial
1. Enterthe phone number (maximum 24 digits). If you make a mistake press b.
2. Press tto dial the phone number entered.
3.3 Dial direct memory numbers 1 to 9
1. Press and hold a key from 1 to 9 until the numberis displayed and dialled.
NOTE
To store a direct memory number see page 23.
3.4 Call from the phonebook
1. Press d.The rst entry in the phonebook is displayed.
2. Scroll uor dto the entry you want.
3. Press tto dial the number.
4. Press tagain to dial over hands-free.
NOTE
Instead of scrolling to browse the phonebook entries, press the numeric key corresponding
to the rst letter of the entry you wish to locate. For example, pressing 2will show the
entries starting with A. Pressing 2twice will show the entries starting with B, etc...
3.5 Call from the Calls list
NOTE
You need to subscribe to your network’s Caller ID service to be able to see the caller’s
number in the calls list. See “Calls list” on page 28 for more details.
1. Press uto enter the Call List . The most recent call is displayed.
2. Scroll uor dto the entry you want.
3. Press tto dial the number.
4. Press tagain to dial over hands-free.
3.6 Answer a call
1. When the phone rings and flashes in the display, press tto answer the call.
2. Press tagain to answer the call via hands-free.
3. To switch between hands-free and the earpiece press t.

IMPORTANT
When the phone is ringing, avoid holding the earpiece too close to your ear as it may
damage your hearing.
NOTE
If auto pick up mode (see page 34) is on, simply lift up the handset from its base to
answer the call. The default setting is O. See all “Default settings” on page 40.
An incoming call has priority over other events. Whenever there is an incoming call, other
operations in progress such as phone settings, menu navigation, etc. will be ended.
3.7 Adjust volume
1. During a call, press uor dto adjust the earpiece or hands-free volume. The level is
shown in the handset display.
3.8 Mute
Mute the microphone so that you can talk to someone else in the room without your caller
hearing you.
1. During a call, press b.The microphone is muted.
2. Press bagain to turn the microphone back on.
3.9 End a call
1. Press e.
Afteryou hang up, the duration the phone is o-hook is displayed for 2 seconds.
NOTE
If auto hang-up is o (see page 34) you must press eto end the call. The default setting
is On .
3.10 Switch handset on/o
1. Press and hold eto switch the handset on or o.
3.11 Intercom
This feature is onlyavailable when there are at least 2 registered handsets. It allowsyou
to make internal calls,transfer external calls from one handset to another and use the
conference option.
3.11.1 Call another handset
1. Press and hold *.
• If you have two handsets,the other handset is called automatically.
• If more than two handsets are registered to the base,the rst handset number is
displayed. Scroll dthe number ofthe handset you want to call and press Mor
press *to ring all handsets.
2. Press eto hang up.

3.11.2 Transfer an external call to another handset
1. During an external call, press and hold *.
Your caller is put on hold.
2. Scroll dthe number ofthe handset youwant to call and press Mor press *to
ring all handsets.
If there are only two handsets, the other handset is called automatically.
3. When the other handset answers, announce the caller then press eto transfer the
call. If the otherhandset does not answer, press and hold *to talk to your caller
again.
3.11.3 Three-party conference call
1. During an external call, press and hold *.
Your caller is put on hold.
2. Scroll dthe number ofthe handset youwant to call and press Mor press *to
ring all handsets.
If there are only two handsets, the other handset is called automatically.
3. When the other handset answers, announce the call then press Mto connect both
calls. If the otherhandset does not answer, press and hold *to talk to your caller
again.
4. Press eto hang up.
3.12 Voicemail
If you have subscribed toyour network’s voicemail service (if available), your TD1 displays
when you have a new message.1
NOTE
You can turn o the icon. When viewing the Calls list, press and hold 5.

4. Phonebook
The TD1 phonebook can store up to 100 names and numbers.
Numbers can be up to 24 digits long and names up to 12 characters long. Entries are
stored in alphabetical order.
4.1 View phonebook entries
4.1.1 View and dial an entry
1. Press d. Displayshows the rst entry.
2. Scroll uor dto the entry you want.
Or
To search alphabetically, press dthen press the key with the rst letter of the name,
e.g. if the name beginswith N, press 6twice.
The display shows the rst entry beginning with N. If required, press uor dto scroll
to the exact entry.
3. Press tto dial the entry displayed.
4.1.2 View an entry during a call:
1. Press Mto open the phonebook list.
2. Enterthe rst letter of the name you wantthen scroll uor dif necessary tothe exact
name. Press Mto display the number.
3. Press eto cancelthe phonebook display.
4. Press eagain to end the call.
4.1.3 View VIP phonebook entries
1. Press M. Phonebook is highlighted.
2. Press M . Scroll dto View VIP and press M.
3. The rst number in the phonebook VIP list is displayed. Scroll uor dto the entry you
want.
Or
To search alphabetically, press dthen press the key with the rst letter of the name,
e.g. if the name beginswith N, press 6twice.
The display shows the rst entry beginning with N. If required, press uor dto scroll
to the exact entry.
4. Press bto see the number.
5. Press eto return to standby.

4.2 Store an entry
1. Press M. Phonebook is displayed.
2. Press M. Scroll dto New Entry .
3. Press M. Enter Name is displayed.
4. Enter a name and press M.
If you make a mistake press bto delete a character or press and hold bto delete
all characters.
5. Enter a number and press M.
If you make a mistake press bto delete a digit or press and hold bto delete all
digits.
6. The display shows ADD TO VIP? If you want to add the number to theVIP list press M
if you don’t want to store tothe VIP list press b. The number is saved.
7. Press eto return to standby.
NOTE
Cancel storing an entry by pressing eat any time during the process.
4.3 Entering names
Use the alphanumeric keypad to enter names in the phonebook.
For instance to enter the name Paul.
P Press 7once

To enter a space press 0.
