This User Guide provides you with all the information you need to get the
most from your phone.
Before you make your rst call you will need to set up your phone. Follow
the simple instructions in ‘Getting Started’, on the next few pages.

6 Getting started
1. Getting started
IMPORTANT
Do not place your IT.6XC in the bathroom or other humid areas.
Location
You need to placeyour IT.6XC base within 2 metres ofthe mains power socket and
telephone wall socket so that the cables will reach.The socket-outlet should be installed
near the equipment and should be easilyaccessible.
Make sure it is at least 1 metre away from other electrical appliancesto avoid interference.
Your IT.6XC works bysending radio signals between the handset and base. The strength
of the signal depends onwhere you place the base. Putting it as high as possible ensures
the best signal.
HANDSET RANGE
The unit has a range of up to 300 metres outdoors when there is a clear line of sight
between the base and handset. Any obstruction between the base and handset will
reduce the range signicantly. With the base indoors and the handset either indoors or
outdoors, the range will normally be up to 50 metres. Thick concrete and stone walls can
severely aect the range.
SIGNAL STRENGTH
The icon on your handset indicates that you are within range of the base. When out
of range of the base, the icon disappears. If you are on a call, you will hear a warning
beep.
If you are on a call, the line will hang up if the handset moves out of range of the base.
Move back within range. The handset will automatically re-connect to the base.
Setting up
IMPORTANT
The base station must be plugged into the mains power at all times. Do not connect the
telephone line cord into the wall socket until the handset is fully charged. Use only the
power adaptor and telephone line cord supplied with the product.

Connecting the base
1. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket marked on the underside of the base.
2. Plug the poweradaptor into the socket marked on the underside of the base and
plug the other end into the mains powerwall socket. Switch on the mains power.
Charging the handset
1. If you are charging the batteryfor the rst time, place the handset on the base to
charge forat least 24 hours continuously.
2. When the handset is fullycharged, the icon will appear steady onthe display. Plug
the other end ofthe telephone line cord (make sure that one end is already plugged
into the base) into the telephone wall socket.
NOTE
You cannot access the battery in the handset. Do not attempt to remove the battery, as
you may damage the phone. If you need to replace the battery, contact customer service
helpline found in this user guide.
Connecting the handset and charger
(for multi-pack only)
If you have purchased a multiple pack, you will need to carry out this process for allthe
handsets and chargers.

1. Plug the poweradaptor into the socket marked on the underside of the charger
and plug the other end into the mains powerwall socket.
2. If you are charging the batteryfor the rst time, place the handset on the chargerto
charge forat least 24 hours continuously.
3. When the handset is fullycharged, the icon will appear steady onthe display.The
display will show Handset and handset number (e.g. 2) to indicate that it is registered
to the base.
BATTERY LOW WARNING
If you hear a warning beep every 2 minutes during a call, you will need to recharge the
handset before you can use it again.
When charging, the icon will scroll on the display. Once fully charged scrolling will
stop.
Removing the back cover
If you have purchased an IT.6XC with extra colour covers orhave purchased the covers
separatelyyou will need to removethe original cover to then replace with the new cover.
1. To remove the cover push down and slide the covero.
2. To replace the cover, line up the hooks on the coverwith the slots in the back of the
handset and slide up until it is in place.
BATTERY PERFORMANCE
In ideal conditions, fully charged batteries should give up to 10 hours talk time or up to 150
hours standby time on a single charge.1

Note that new batteries do not reach their full capacity until they have been put to normal
use for several days.
To keep your battery in the best condition, leave the handset o the base for a few hours
at a time.
Running the battery right down at least once a week will help them last as long as
possible.
The charge capacity of the rechargeable battery will reduce with time as it wears out,
giving the handset less talk / standby time. Eventually it will need to be replaced, please
contact customer service helpline found in this user guide.
After charging your handset for the rst time, subsequent charging time is about 6–8 hours
a day. The handset may become warm during charging. This is normal.

Date and time
If you have subscribed to a Caller ID Service and Auto Clock is set to on (see page 26), the
date and time is set automaticallyfor all handsets when you receive yourrst call. If Auto
Clock is set to othe time and date does not set automatically.
If you do not have a Caller ID service,you can set the date and time manually.
1. Press Menu , scroll dto Clock/Alarm and press OK .
2. Display shows Date & Time , then press OK .
3. Enterthe date using the format DD-MM-YY e.g. 04/12/16 for 4 December 2016 and
press OK .
4. Enter the time using the 24 hour format HH:MM , e.g. 14:45 for 02.45pm and press OK .
5. Press eto return to standby.
Your IT.6XC is now ready for use.

IMPORTANT
Hands-free activation can suddenly increase thevolume in the earpiece to avery high
level. Make sure the handset is not too close to your ear.

Steadywhen the handset is registered and within range of the base. Disappears
when the handset is out of range ofthe base.
Eco mode is on.
Flashes when you have new missed calls.
When viewng the call list it indicates you are viewing a missed call.1
Handset ringer is o.
Phone is in silent mode.
On when the line is in use.
Flashes when there is an incoming call.
Indicates when viewing an outgoing call.
Indicates when viewing a received call.
Silent mode is set to on.
Indicates a blocked call.
Flashes when you have newvoicemail messages.2
Steadywhen there are old voicemail messages.
O when you have novoicemail messages.
The alarm clock has been set.
Hands-free mode is activated.
The approximate power levels ofyour batteryare indicated as below:

Battery is almost empty. The battery icon will flash and emit a warning beep every 2
minutes during a call.

Overview of the base
A Paging key
Paging is a useful wayto nd lost handsets.
1. Press pon the base.
All handsets ring.
2. Press pagain to cancel the paging call or press any key onthe handset to stop the
paging call.
Navigating the menus
The basic steps of navigating through the menu and on-screen options.
1. From the standby screen, press Menu .
The main menu is opened.
2. Use the B(u) or c(d) keys to scroll through the menu.
3. Soft key options OK and Back are displayed.
Press OK open a sub-menu or validate an option.
Press Back to go back to previous menu level, delete a characteror cancel an action.
4. Press eto return to standby.
NOTE
If you do not press any button on the handset for 30 seconds the display will automatically
return to standby. It will also return to standby when the handset is placed on the base or
charger.

NOTE
The handset will automatically time the duration of all external calls. The call timer will
display after the rst 10 seconds of the call. When the call ends, the total duration of the
talk time stays on the display for 3 seconds.
3.1 Switch the handset on/o
1. Press and hold eto switch the handset on or o.
3.2 Make a call
1. Press r.
2. Dial the telephone number.
3.3 Pre-dial
1. Enterthe phone number (maximum 24 digits). If you make a mistake press Clear .
2. Press rto dial the phone number entered.
3.4 Dial hot key numbers 1 or 2
1. Press and hold a key1 or 2 until the number is displayed and dialled.
NOTE
To store a hot key memory number see page 21.
3.5 Answer a call
1. When the phone rings and flashes in the display, press rto answer the call.
2. Press hto answer the callvia hands-free.
3. To switch between hands-free and the earpiece press h.
IMPORTANT
When the phone is ringing, avoid holding the earpiece too close to your ear as it may
damage your hearing.
NOTE
If auto answer (see page 28) is on, simply lift up the handset from its base to answer the
call. The default setting is O. See all “Default settings” on page 34.
An incoming call has priority over other events. Whenever there is an incoming call, other
operations in progress such as phone settings, menu navigation, etc. will be ended.
3.6 Adjust volume
1. During a call, press uor dto adjust the earpiece or hands-freevolume. The level is
shown in the handset display.

3.7 Mute
Mute the microphone so that you can talk to someone else in the roomwithout your caller
hearing you.
1. During a call, press m.The microphone is muted.
2. Press magain to turn the microphone back on.
3.8 End a call
1. Press e.
NOTE
If auto hang-up is on (see page 28) simply replace the handset on the base to end the call.
The default setting is On .
3.9 Intercom
This feature is onlyavailable when there are at least 2 registered handsets. It allows you
to make internal calls,transfer external calls from one handset to another and use the
conference option.
3.9.1 Call another handset
1. Press and hold *.
• If onlytwo handsets are registered to the base, the other handset is called
automatically.
• If more than two handsets are registeredto the base, the handsets are listed. Scroll
dto the handset you want to intercom and press OK .
2. Press eto hang up.
NOTE
If the handset does not belong to IT.6XC range, this function may not be available.
3.9.2 Transfer an external call to another handset
1. During an external call, press and hold *.
Your caller is put on hold.
• If onlytwo handsets are registered to the base, the other handset is called
automatically.
• If more than two handsets are registeredto the base, the handsets are listed. Scroll
dto the handset you want to transferthe call to and press OK .
If the otherhandset does not answer, press Clear to talk to your caller again.
2. Once the other handset answers, press eon the original handset to transfer the call.
3.9.3 Three-party conference call
1. During an external call, press and hold *.
Your caller is put on hold.
• If onlytwo handsets are registered to the base, the other handset is called
automatically.

• If more than two handsets are registeredto the base, the handsets are listed. Scroll
dto the handset you want to conference call and press OK . If the otherhandset
does not answer, press Clear to talk to your caller again.
2. Once the other handset answers, press Conf to join all three callers or Extern to talk to
the mobile caller again. While on a conference call you can press Int to talk internally.
Press Conf again to join all three callers.
3. Press eon both handsets to hang up.
3.10 Voicemail
If you have subscribed toyour network’svoicemail service (if available), your IT.6XC
displays when you have a newmessage.1
NOTE
You can turn o the icon. When viewing the voicemail number, press and hold 5.

3.11 Key lock
You can lock the keypad so that it cannot be operated accidentally while carrying it
around.
NOTE
When the keypad is locked, you can still answer incoming calls and operate the handset
as normal during the call. When the call ends, the keypad lock comes on again.
1. Press and hold 0. Keys locked is displayed.
2. Press and hold 0again to unlock the keypad.

4. Phonebook
The IT.6XC handset phonebook can store up to 50 names and numbers.
Numbers can be up to 24 digits long and names up to 16 characters long. Entries are
stored in alphabetical order.
4.1 Dial phonebook entries
1. Press Menu . Phonebook is highlighted.
2. Press OK. View is highlighted, press OK .
3. The rst number in the phonebook is displayed. Scroll uor dto the entry you want.
Or
To search alphabetically, press the keywith the rst letter ofthe name, e.g. if the name
begins with N, press 6twice.
The display shows the rst entry beginning with N. If required, press uor dto scroll
to the exact entry.
4. Press rto dial the entry displayed.
4.2 Store an entry
1. Press Menu . Phonebook is highlighted.
2. Press OK , scroll dto Add new .
3. Press OK , enter a name and press OK .
If you make a mistake press Clear to delete a character or press and hold Clear to
delete all characters.
4. Enter a numberand press Save .
If you make a mistake press Clear to delete a digit or press and hold Clear to delete all
digits.
5. Press eto return to standby.
NOTE
Cancel storing an entry by pressing eat any time during the process.
You can store multiple entries with the same name. However, to prevent unnecessary
duplicated entries, you can only store a number once.
4.3 Entering names
Use the alphanumeric keypad to enter names in the phonebook.
For instance to enterthe name Paul.

4.5 Enter a pause
If your IT.6XC is connected to a switchboard, you may need to enter a pause in a stored
number. This gives the switchboard time to get an outside line. Apause is normally stored
after the switchboard access code (e.g. 9)
1. When storing a number, press and hold #until the display shows P. You can then
continue storing the phone number.
4.6 View an entry
In standby:
1. Press Menu . Phonebook is displayed.
2. Press OK. View is highlighted, press OK .
3. The rst number in the phonebook is displayed. Scroll uor dto the entry you want.
Or
To search alphabetically, press the keywith the rst letter ofthe name, e.g. if the name
begins with N, press 6twice.
The display shows the rst entry beginning with N. If required, press uor dto scroll
to the exact entry.
4. Press View to view the number.
During a call:
1. Press Pb to open the phonebook menu.
2. Enterthe rst letter of the nameyou want then scroll uor dif necessaryto the exact
name. Press View to display the number.
3. Press Back to cancel the phonebook display.
4. Press eagain to end the call.
4.7 Edit an entry
1. Press Menu . Phonebook is displayed.
2. Press OK , scroll dto Edit .
3. Press OK, the rst number in the phonebook is displayed. Scroll uor dto the entry
you want or search alphabeticallyand press OK .
4. Edit the name and press OK to conrm. Press Clear to delete characters.
5. Edit the number. Press Save to conrm. Press Clear to delete digits.
6. Press eto return to standby.
