ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONSWHEN USING
THE ICED TEA MAKER
• Place the appliancewellbackfrom the edge ofthe
counter.
• Avoidappliance areas which may become hotor emit steam
when the iced tea maker ison, particularly the steeping/brew
basket andthe waterreservoir.
•The waterreservoir lid must beonatall times while
the appliance is brewing.
•DONOT operate the iced tea maker unless the pitcher has
its lidonandis fitted snuglyagainst the appliance.
•DONOT move the appliancewhile inuseor until ithas
cooledoff. Steam may escapefrom the steeping/brew
basket while the appliance is cooling.
•DONOT place a tablecloth or otherfabricunderneath the
appliance or otherwiserestrictairflowbeneath it.
•DO NOT jerk or pull onthe powercordwhenunplugging
the appliance, grasp the moldedplug to unplug it.
• Never reheat a beverage by passing it through the appliance's
brewing system.
•DONOT immerse the appliance in water. This may cause
electrocution or shock, damage it permanently and void
the warranty.
SPECIALCORD SET INSTRUCTIONS
1. A shortpowersupplycord is provided to reduce
the hazards resultingfrom a person orpet becoming
entangled in,or tripping over, a longercord.

2. An extension cord maybe purchased and used if care is
exercised inits use.
3.Ifan extension cord is used, the markedelectricalrating of
the extension cord must beat least 10 amps and 120 volts.
The resulting extended cord must be arranged so that it will
not drapeover a countertop or tabletop where itcanbe
pulled onby children or tripped overaccidentally.
This appliance hasa polarizedplug(oneblade is wider than
the other). To reduce the risk of electricshock,thisplug will fit
in a polarized outlet only one way. Ifthe plug does notfit fully
in the outlet, reverse the plug. Ifit stilldoes not fit,contact a
qualifiedelectrician. Donot modify the plug inany way.

CLEAN YOUR ICED TEA MAKERBEFORE
USING THE FIRST TIME
Make sureyourfirst glass of iced teaisas good ascanbeby
cleaningyour MR. COFFEE® Iced Tea Makerbeforeusing itfor
the firsttime.Just follow thesesimplesteps:

WARNING! To preventinjuriesfrom steam, donot plug inthe
appliance until you have pouredwater inthe
reservoir, thelidis closed andthe pitcher isinits
place.
1. Remove brewbasket by moving the rotatingshowerhead.
2. Wash the pitcher,pitcher lidand brewbasket inthe
dishwasher or with a mixture of milddetergent and water.
Rinse each thoroughly.
3. Fill the pitcher with water tothetop water level mark. Lift
the reservoir lidonthe iced tea maker and pour the water
into the water reservoir. Donot overfill.Insert the brew
basket inits place.
4. Rotate the showerheadback toits proper position over
the brewbasket. Close the waterreservoirlid.
5. Fill pitcher to3 quart level with ice.
6. Place the pitcher lidonthe pitcher.Slide the pitcher
towards the iced tea maker with the pitcherspoutfitting
just under the Adjustable Tea SteepingControl.
7. Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet and push the
"on" button.
8. When the cycle is complete,youriced tea maker will shut
off automatically.
9. Slide the pitcher away from the iced tea maker and discard
the water inthe pitcher.
NOTE: Plugging the iced tea maker into an electrical outlet
may trigger the brewing cycle since the "on" button
may have inadvertentlybeenpushed.Also, ifyou
wish to turn the iced tea maker off during the brewing
cycle, just grasp the moldedplug and unplug the
power cord.

Water Filtration System
(Water filtration isnot supplied with this unit, but if
maybe ordered separately by visiting our website or
calling 1-800-Mr. Coffee.)
This carbon-basedwaterfilterimproves the taste of your tea
by removing upto97%ofthe chlorinefrom the water you
may useto brew yourtea.
First look fortheMR. COFFEE® Filtration Friendly symbol
onthe bottom of yourfilterbasket. Ifyoudonotsee
this symbol, please call 1-800-672-6333.
To usethe waterfiltration system in your MR. COFFEE® Iced
Tea Maker,please follow these steps:
1 . Using thered indicator onthe frame
water filter, align the indicator tothe
letter onthe frame thatcorresponds
with the monththat youare using the
disk forthe firsttime. This serves to
remind youto change the disk every
month(approx. 30 brewing cycles).
2. Place the MR.COFFEE® paperfilter inthe
filterbasket. Place teainthe paperfilter.
3. Place theMR. COFFEE® waterfilter in
the filter basket, making sure that the
side marked"thisside up" faces you
and that the waterfilter is level.
4. Close the filterbasketlid. You arenow
ready to brew a great tastingtea.
5. When youare donebrewingyourtea, rinse
the waterfilter with fresh water. Donotput
your waterfilter inthe dishwasher.

To replace the waterfilter disks: twist
the gray diskcoverfromyourwater
filtration system. Remove the used
disk. Insert thenew disk into the
frame and twist the coverbackinto
place.
BREWING ICED TEA
1. Fill the pitcher with fresh, cold
water tothe desiredwaterlevel
capacity (1, 2 or3 quarts). Do
not overfill.
2. Lift the waterreservoir lid, rotate
the showerhead outoftheway
and remove the brewbasket.
Pour water into the water
reservoir (Figure 1).
3. Place the brewbasketback inits
place,inserting a 4 cupMR.
COFFEE® paperfilter into the
brewbasket. Addthe desired
amount oftea (see the
Measurement Chart). You may
nowadd sugar, lemon or other
flavorings tothe brewbasket to
suit your taste.
4. Rotate the showerheadback
into position so that itisnow
over the brewbasket. Close the
water reservoir lid.
NOTE: Reservoir lid will not close if
showerhead isnotin proper
position.

5. Adjust the steepinglever to yourdesiredbrewingstrength.
6. Fill the pitcher with ice cubes tothe desired ice level
marked onthe pitcher (Figure 2). Replace the pitcher lid
with the pitcherspoutcover inthe open position. Ifyou
are lowon ice, youmay substitutecoldwater,refilling the
pitcher tothe desired 1, 2 or3 quart WATER level - DO
NOT fill tothe ICE level as this will cause an overflowwhen
thetea brews.
7. Slide the pitchertowards the iced tea maker with the
pitcher spout open and fitting just under the Steep
Control,flush against the appliance.
NOTE: Ifthe pitcher anditslidarenot pushed snugly against
the iced tea maker, hot water andhot steam/water
could escape and cause injury.
8. Turn the iced tea maker onby plugging the power cord
into an electrical outlet and pushing the "on" button firmly
until theON indicatorlight is illuminated.
9. When the brewingcycle is complete, the iced tea maker
willshut off automatically. Wait 30 seconds,thenslide the
pitcher away from the appliance and serve youricedtea.
Your teamay turncloudy asit chills duetothe presence of
naturally- occurringtannicacids found in tea.
CAUTION: Whenperformingthisstep,someresidual steam
A\y escape.
10. After youare doneenjoyingyouricedbeverage,wait for
the iced tea maker contents to cool down before
handling. Then, open the reservoirlid,rotate the shower
head outofthewayand remove the brewbasket.
Discard its contents and rinse it with clean water.

CLEANING AND MAINTAINING YOUR ICED
TEA MAKER
Cleaning your MR. COFFEE® Iced Tea Maker
Hardwater can leavemineral deposits inside the pitcher and
the brew basket. To removethese, fill the brew basket and
the pitcher with warm, undiluted white household vinegar.
Let soak for20 minutes, then rinse.
Never use harsh,abrasivecleansers,steel wool pads or other
abrasive materials. They may cause scratches which can lead
to breakage.
CAUTION!Neverimmerse the iced tea maker itself in water,
in any other liquid orinthe dishwasher.
Decalcifying your MR. COFFEE® Iced Tea Maker
Mineral(calcium/limestone) found inthe water will leave
deposits in your iced tea maker and will affect its
performance. Ifyou notice an increase in steaming orifthe
pumping action stops before allofthe water has been
pumped outofthe appliance, it's time to clean it.The
frequency of cleaningdepends onthe hardness(mineral
content) of your tap water. Please seethe following chart:

It's recommended that you regularlyremovemineraldeposits
by using MR. COFFEE® Cleaner or undiluted, white household
vinegar. MR. COFFEE® Cleaner is available at manyretailstores
orby calling theMR. COFFEE® Consumer Service Department
at 1-800-MR COFFEE (1-800-672-6333).
1. Followpackage instructions to prepare one batch of MR.
COFFEE® Cleaner.Pour the mixture orone quart of undiluted,
white household vinegar into the waterreservoir.
2. Place the pitcher lidonthe pitcher and slide the pitcher
into place under the iced tea maker.
3. Push the "on" button to begin the brewing cycle.After one
cupof cleaner or vinegar has pumped into the pitcher,
unplug the iced tea maker. Letit stand for30 minutes.
4. Plug inthe iced tea makeragain.Continue brewing process
again to pump outthe remainingcleaner or vinegar.
5. When the iced tea makershutsoff, unplug it, remove the
pitcher and discard the cleaning solution.

6. Fill the pitcher with clean tap water tothe 3-quart water
level marked onthe pitcher and repeat Steps 1 -5 without
the cleaningsolution. Repeat thisprocess if necessary.
Water Filtration Disk Replacement
Your waterfiltrationdisk will need tobe replacedonce a
month(approx. 30 brew cycles). Ifthe machinewill notbein
use foran extended period of time, rinse the waterfilter with
runningwater and clean the iced tea maker beforeuse.
