Introduction
Congratulationsonchoosingthis MultiFunctionProduct(MFP).Itisdesigned with
advancedfeatures,togiveyouclearandcrispblackandwhitepagesathigh speed
onarangeofofficeprint media.
Withthis MFP,youcaninstantly scanpaper-baseddocumentsanddeliver the
electronicimagetovariousdestinationsincludinge-mailaddresses,printers, ftp
servers,faxmachinesor someoneelse'scomputeronthe network.
Your MFPincludesthese features:

Anintuitivecontrolpanel, makesdigitalcopyingfastand easy.
•FastCopy Speed
Upto22copiesperminuteLetter(21 copiesperminuteA4SEF)inblack and
whiteforfastandefficient copying.

•Actkeyutility (Windows only)
EnablestheMFPtoreceiveonekeytouchcommandsfromalocally connected
computer(“pull scan”).
•Scan to E-mail
ConnectedtoanEthernetnetworkandaSMTPserver,thisMFPallows you to
transmitdocument(s)overtheinternetviae-mail. Withatouchofthe e-mail
buttonandtheselectionofyour recipients'e-mail addresses,thedocument(s) is/
arefirstscannedandconvertedintoanimagefile,andthentransmitted to
remoterecipientswithin minutes.

Allowsyoutosendscanneddocuments(PDF,TIFF andJPEGfileformats)to a
serverora personalcomputer'sfilefolderoveranintranetwithFTP(File Transfer
Protocol),CIFS(CommonInternetFileSystem)protocol. Thescanto filing
feature removestheneedforthemail servertohandlelarge attachments.

Releasing the Scanner Lock

2. Movethescanlock lever(1)totheUNLOCKEDposition.
PowerSave Mode
IfyoudonotusetheMFPforawhile,themachinewillenterthepowersavemodeto

Note
You mustbeloggedonasanadministratororamemberof the
Administratorsgroupin ordertocompletethisprocedure.If your
computerisconnectedtoanetwork,networkpolicysettingsmayalso
prevent youfromcompletingthisprocedure.
TheMFPisa“dualdevice”-Windowsseesit asascannerandaprinter.Therefore,
youmustinstall twodifferent drivers;theTWAIN(scanner)driverandtheprinter
driver.
TheinstallationinstructionsbelowrefertoUSBconnection.Fornetworkconnection
detailsrefertotheSetup/ReferenceGuide.
If youarerunningWindowsServer2003 orServer2008,youmayneedtofollow
thesestepstoensureWIAservicestartswhenusingtheTWAINdriverandActkey
Utility.
1. ClickStart>AdministrativeTools>Services.
2. Double-clickServices.
3. Double-clickWindowsImageAcquisition(WIA).
4. FromtheStartuptypemenu,select Automatic.
5. UnderServicestatus,clickStart.

TWAIN Driver: Pull versusPush Scanning
Pull Scanning=initiatingascan fromyourcomputerviasoftware.
PushScanning:initiatingascan bypressingabuttonontheMFP’sfront panel
TheTWAIN driverisusedfor“PullScanning”l.TheTWAINdriveronly worksviaUSB
connections. Thismeansit'snotpossibletocontrolthescanneroverthenetworkfrom
yourcomputer.
