The installer must provide an emergency stop
buon on the unit. They should ensure that
this is done before the unit is started.
The unit is equipped with protecve covers
for the components. If the unit is installed
outdoors, it is important to arrange for a can-
opy to protect it from the snow, which could
constute a risk while using the unit if the fan
blades freeze.
Replace all the supply lines of the different
power sources which are damaged or missing.
Depending on the version, the refrigerants
used can be either R407c or R134a. They are
not harmful unless inhaled. They constute a
hazard only if they saturate the environment.
Some fluids are flammable under certain
condions. Refer to the specificaons of each
fluid on the safety data sheet at the end of
the manual.
This manual is meant for anyone who uses or works on the cycling refrigerated air dryer, mainly the
operators. The cycling refrigerated air dryer and this manual are protected by copyright. Any reproducon
of the same shall be liable for prosecuon. All rights reserved by nano-purificaon soluons, parcularly the
rights of reproducon and distribuon, as well as translaon, including those relang to charges of copyright
infringement. Any reproducon, processing, duplicaon, distribuon of this document using electronic

All products are supplied with a 30 months manufacturer’s warranty from the date of shipment from the
factory or 24 months from date of installaon/start up, whichever occurs first and installed and maintained in
accordance with the manufacturers guidelines. Pre-filters and non-corrosive upstream piping required. Only
genuine service parts should be used and no modificaons made.

This service and maintenance manual de-
scribes the design, operaon and the instruc-
ons for use and maintenance of the units
manufactured by nano-purificaon soluons.
nano-purificaon soluons shall not be liable
for any damage caused due to non-compli-
ance with the instrucons of this manual.
For the smallest doubts or any clarificaons
that may be required, our qualified nano-puri-
ficaon soluons technicians are available to
provide all the necessary informaon.
In order to make it easier to idenfy the units,
it is important to always specify the technical
features, especially the serial number, which
are printed on the label on the outside of the
units.
The unit should not be operated, even for a
short period of me, under condions other
than the ideal condions.
A part that does not guarantee safety should
not be installed.

The compressor lubricant is not hazardous.
However, it is always compulsory to wear
safety gloves while working with it. Do not
swallow the lubricant.
For any operaons relang to the installaon,
commissioning, fing, use, modificaons of
the condions of use and methods, roune
maintenance, inspecon and scheduled main-
tenance, follow the procedures given in the
corresponding chapters of this manual. Keep
this manual at hand for quick reference.
The unit must be used under the condions
specified in this service and maintenance
manual.
There are some recommendaons given
below for the USER that should help to avoid
abnormal operang condions. Avoid any op-
erang condions other than those expressly
described in this manual.
Do not climb on the unit;
Operate the unit aer it is properly installed in
the recommended posion;
Operate the unit aer it is properly installed in
the recommended posion;
Do not start the unit without the protecng
covers properly in place;
Do not remove the protecng covers while
the unit is funconing;
Do not remove the protecng covers when
the unit is switched on;
Do not clean the unit when it is in operaon;
Do not install the unit in corrosive or explosive
places;
nano-purificaon soluons shall not be held responsible for any possible damage
caused, directly or indirectly, by persons or elements that are not non-compliant
with these instrucons.
Any assembling/removal carried out by THE USER, which is not provided for in this
manual or not authorized by “nano-purificaon soluons”, will be considered as an
inappropriate operaon, thereby damaging safety funcons, and will lead to the
cancellaon of the warranty.

Specialized maintenance electrician
The electrician should have a general knowledge
about electrical appliances as well as specific
experience working with control boxes and the
electrical components of cooling units or similar
equipment from the domain of air-condioning.
The electrician is authorized to carry out only
the specific operaons stated in this manual by
meculously following the associated instrucons.
Maintenance technician
The maintenance technician should have a general
experience working with mechanical elements and
a specific experience with cooling units or similar
equipment from the domain of air-condioning.
The maintenance technician is authorized to carry
out only the specific operaons stated in this manual
by meculously following the associated instrucons.
Refrigeraon technician
The refrigeraon technician should be a refrigeraon
cerfied from a technical instuon for similar
equipment or intervenons under the authority of
competent personnel.
The refrigeraon technician is authorized to carry out

Transport operator
The transport operator can carry out only the specific
operaons stated in this manual by meculously

Staffallocated for the start-up and shut-down of

to manually operate the unit at the level of the
following funcons: start-up, shut-down, display of

The safety officer is responsible for protecon and
the prevenon of occupaonal risks as set forth in
OSHA Direcve (Safety in the workplace).
The safety officer shall make certain that all the
persons who operate the unit have received all
applicable instrucons which are contained in
this manual, including the inial installaon and
commissioning operaon.

Essenal safety rules
Read this paragraph
carefully and
understand it
before operang or
servicing this machine. The machine is connected
to hazardous power circuits (electricity, pneumac
circuit, etc.) and should be used with great care.
This paragraph explains what needs to be
understood in terms of safety before operang or
servicing the machine. Non-compliance with these
safety instrucons risks causing injuries or fatal
accidents, break-down of the machine, products
(plates) or installaons, or a serious incident.
Operator
• Prior training about the operaon and
maintenance of the device is a prerequisite for the
use and maintenance of the dryer.
• Use and maintain the dryer with the consent of the
system manager.
• It is very dangerous to let a person, with poor
knowledge and poor understanding about the
system and how the machine funcons, use it and
carry out maintenance operaons in an improper or
negligent manner.
Before operang the dryer:
• Anyone using the dryer or carrying out its
maintenance operaons must read this manual
carefully and understand its contents. Pay special
aenon to explanaons with the heading “Danger”,
“Warning” and “Cauon” and understand them
thoroughly. Follow the instrucons and avoid
predictable hazards when you use the dryer or carry
out its maintenance operaons.
• Before operang or carrying out a maintenance
operaon, read and understand the safety
instrucons stated in this manual and the safety
labels affixed, on the device, and follow the
instrucons. Failing the above, you risk suffering
facial injuries or even fatal injuries. You also run
the risk of the dryer, the products (plates) or the
installaon breaking down or causing a serious
incident.
• Other safety instrucons are provided in the other
paragraphs.
Warning labels (Warning)
• Warning labels are very important. Do not remove
them deliberately.
• If they become dirty or illegible, or they get
removed inadvertently or are lost, sck new labels in
the place of the earlier ones.
Danger warning
When you use the dryer or carry out a maintenance
operaon on it, pay aenon to the three warning
levels below. Understand their content and act
accordingly.
The warning messages appear on the warning
labels stuck on the dryer and given in the safety
instrucons paragraph of this manual.
The “danger”
messages provide
warning about
real dangers and
indicate the risks of fatal accident or serious injuries
for the operator who does not strictly adhere to
the safety instrucons provided to avoid such
dangers. They also provide warning about the risks
of an accidental gas leakage or fire due to improper
handling.
The content of the messages is iden
cal to the
warning messages, except for indicang a higher
level of severity. Danger labels generally have a red
background.

The “cauon”
messages provide
warning about real
dangers and indicate the risks of minor injuries for
the operator, or damage to the system, products
(plates) and installaons, if they do not strictly
adhere to the safety instrucons provided to avoid
such dangers.
Cauon labels generally have a yellow background.

• Direct sunshine, rain, wind and sand.
• Temperature: max. 140°F/min. 14°F
• Max. relave humidity: 90%
1.9 storage
1.10 transport and handling
The carrier is always liable for any damage
caused to the products entrusted to them
during transport. Thus, before preparing the
unit for its installaon and commissioning,
it is necessary to carry out a complete visual
inspecon in order to check that the packing
cases are intact and the unit has no apparent
damage and that there is no oil or refrigerant
leakage. It is also important to verify that the
units are the ones that have been ordered.
Any damage or complaints must be reported
to nano-purificaon soluons and declared
to the carrier (or shipper) before the carrier
leaves premises when product is delivered.
If there is damage to one or more compo-
nents, do not start the unit but inform na-
no-purificaon soluons about the problem
to find a mutually agreeable course of acon.
Preferably, remove the packaging at the actual
place of installaon.
The unit should be handled with great care
on the premises. Do not use any of its compo-
nents as a grip. In order to avoid any damage,
it is imperave that, during their handling,
the units always remain in the posion set for
their operaon.
Do not leave the units in their packaging on
premises that are exposed to strong sunshine
because the ambient temperatures can affect
the triggering values of the safety devices.
The water circuit should be completely
drained before the unit is handled.
The equipment should be preferably lied
using a forklitruck. Use a spreader bar if
belts or slings are used and ensure that there
is no pressure on the external edges of the
units or the packing case.

During transport, do not place the dryer on the ground, on the side, in order to avoid any possible
problem.
Example of liing using a forklitruck:
• Insert the protecon for the external structure of the unit, e.g. polystyrene or board sheet (A).
• Ensure that the forks of the truck jut out min. 4 inches (B) from the unit.
Example of liing using slings:
• Place the slings as shown.
• Place the rigid structures on the upper sides
of the unit in order to avoid damaging it (only
when there is a point on which the pressure
acts).
• Tighten the slings gradually, while ensuring that
they remain in the correct posion.
• Start liing the unit.

2.1 compressed air installation principle
A backup wrench must be used when ghtening air inlet and outlet pipework connecons. Failure
to properly ghten inlet and outlet pipework without use of a backup wrench could result in dam-
age to the dryer and void warranty.

2.4 installation
Note: These instrucons help to improve the service durability of the equipment. Please read them carefully
and follow them.
Locaon of the compressed air dryer
1. Locate the air dryer on a surface in a horizontal posion.
2. The air dryer can corrode quickly if it is located on a surface that is contaminated by acid or alkali.
3. The locaon of installaon should be clear and have sufficient space. (Blocked air circulaon reduces the
rate of dehumidificaon and the service life of the dryer).
Allow 5 feet of clear space around the dryer to facilitate maintenance operaons and repairs.
4. The ambient temperature where the air dryer is installed should be greater than 32°F to avoid the dryer
freezing. The locaon should not have direct exposure to sun rays.
Ambient temperature for dryers using R-134a (34-122°F); using R-407c (34-110°F).
It is necessary to arrange for suitable venlaon in order to prevent any malfunconing.
If ambient temperature can fall to 32°F or below, contact your supplier to obtain specific
installaon or air dryer recommendaons.

Piping
The compressed air pipework should be installed using standard tools and connected in such a way that
there is no AIR leaking from the connecons. Any malfuncon and leakage in the system can be avoided
with an installaon that is properly adjusted taking into account the possible movements and loosening of
the connecons for due to vibraon and temperature change.
1. The compressed air piping should be assembled in accordance with the direcon of circulaon of the
compressed air aer inspecon of the inlet and outlet of the AIR DRYER. (Assembling the piping in the
wrong direcon causes the AIR DRYER to malfuncon).
2. The compressed air piping should not rest directly on the AIR DRYER but on a support so that they are
isolated from the device.
3. Condensed water coming from the outlet of the drain device should be evacuated through a separate
condensate line, to a properly sized oil water separator.
4. The AIR DRYER should be isolated from the vibraons of the AIR COMPRESSOR.
5. It is recommended to use non-corrosive piping for beer corrosion resistance.
6. It is recommended to install a bypass in order to facilitate servicing the AIR DRYER.

Electrical connecon
1. Connecon : Use conductors which can carry the maximum current required at the maximum ambient
operang temperature, according the type of installaon chosen (see indicaon on the electrical
diagram). Use only UL marked copper cables in conformity with NEC (Naonal Electrical Code) and CEC
(Canadian Electrical Code).
2. Appropriate protecon should be installed to avoid over current and possible electrocuon due to short-
circuit before installing the air dryer.
3. Proper grounding should be installed.
4. Permissible operang voltage range: ± 5%
5. Refer to the electrical schemac and direct any quesons to nano-purificaon soluons technical
support.
Funcon test
Start the air dryer aer the following checks are made:
Inspecon of the components:
1. Is there a problem in the air system and electric circuit?
2. Has the by-pass circuit valve (oponal) been closed?
3. Is the purge system valve open?
4. Is the compressed air pressure sufficient?
5. Is there a differenal between the permissible rated voltage and the interrupng capacity of the fuses
and the circuit-breaker?
Operang procedure
Press the “ON” power buon (press the buon of the controller in the front and hold for 5 seconds on CAREL
controllers)
We recommend to start the dryer, prior to opening up the air inlet and outlet valves for five minutes. Aer
starng the unit and running it for five minutes slowly pressurize the dryer to avoid any possible damage.
The condensate drain should be cycled to ensure funconality and then slowly open the outlet valve to the
system.
(If compressed air enters the dryer quickly, the pressure could damage parts or instruments).
Important
Wait for more than 5 minutes before restarng the dryer.

Inial start-up of NXC Cycling refrigerated air dryer
1. Close the isolang valves on the dryer and open the by-pass valve.
2. Check on the controller that the dryer is OFF.
3. Start the air compressor.
4. Start the dryer. (press on the arrow up buon, the controller will display ON)
5. The refrigerang compressor and condenser fan will start aer a 2-minute safety me-out interval.
6. Always turn your dryer ON 10 to 15 minutes before the air compressor.
7. Pressurize the dryer by slowly opening the inlet valve.
8. Slowly open the dryer outlet valve and then close the by-pass.
9. Check that the condensate drain opens when you push the arrow’s down buon.
10. Check that the condensate drain valve opens automacally every 5 minutes.
The dryer is now ready to run normally.
Normal start-up
The following key points will opmize daily use:
• Always turn your dryer ON 10 to 15 minutes before the air compressor. This will ensure that the heat
exchanger has been cooled to a proper level to handle the inial thermal load of the compressed air.
• The NXC cycling refrigerated air dryer has been designed as an energy efficient air dryer and can remain
on even when compressed air producon has stopped. The electronic regulaon will automacally start
and stop the refrigeraon compressor based on the demand on the system. You only need to turn off
your air dryer at night, on the weekend or during system shut down.
• The standard dryer parameters programmed in our factory meet the needs of most applicaons. If
the condions in your plant are typical (i.e. not a very hot environment, no paral drying upstream, no
voluntary increase in the dew point...), do not spend me on modifying these parameters.
2.7 use
Only start up the dryer once you have thoroughly tested all the compressed air, refrigeraon and
electrical connecons.

User interface - with CAREL
Changing set points
General
The factory-programmed set point normally meets the nominal capacity of your dryer and is also appropriate
for all the flows lower than nominal. A change of set point may be necessary to obtain a dew point higher
than the standard dew point to allow flows higher than nominal capacity or in a parcularly hot environment.
Adjustment
• Press the set buon for one second, the digital display will show set and then the current set point will
be flashing.
• Use the Up and Down arrow to modify the set point based on applicaon requirements.
32-50°F adjustment if possible through a programming change
• To record the new value, press the SET buon. The digital display panel reverts to its normal status (i.e.
stops flashing) and indicates the variaon between the measured value and the set point.

Modifying other parameters
Parameters access
• Press and hold SET buon for 3 seconds unl reach P5.
• Press the UP and DOWN arrows to scroll the list of available parameters.
• Press the SET buon to show the relevant parameters value.
• Increase or decrease the parameters value by using the UP and DOWN arrows keys.
• Press the set buon to memorize the parameters value and return to the parameters display.
• Follow the same procedure above to review all of the relevant parameters.
• Press and hold the set buon for 3 seconds to memorize and lock in the parameters. The display will exit
the parameter seng menu. Note that if this last operaon of holding the set buon for 3 seconds is not
completed all changes to parameters will revert to previous values and modificaons to parameters will
not be applied.

Changing condensate drains parameters
General
• The condensate drain energizes automacally opens every one minutes (parameter p2) for a duraon of
two seconds (parameter p1). The factory seng matches the standard operang condions of the dryer.
However , you may have to:
• increase the duraon and possibly the frequency of purging if the temperature of the air to be treated is
higher than the rated value and if there is water in liquid condensate downstream of the dryer.
• decrease the duraon and possibly the frequency of the condensate drain if the temperature of the air to
be treated is lesser than the rated value (in the case of a water aer cooler aer the air compressor) or if
the compressed air to be treated is not saturated with humidity (pre-drying or paral expansion).
• The objecve of properly adjusng the purge duraon is simply to limit the loss compressed air to the
absolute minimum required for this operaon. A properly adjusted purging operaon is characterized by:
the expulsion of condensates (water/oil emulsion) for the majority of the purge me.
a short jet of dry compressed air without condensates at the end of the purge.
Funconing of manual purge
Short cycle:
• Press the purge icon and hold for 1 second.
• The screen displays “Sho” for the first three seconds.
• Release the buon to start the short purge cycle (refer to P3 parameter).
Long cycle:
• Press the purge icon and hold for several seconds.
• The screen displays “Sho” for the first three seconds and then displays “Lon”.
• When the screen displays “Lon”, release the buon to start the long purge cycle (refer to P4 parameter).
Purge Test
General
The purge needs to be tested during:
• the first commissioning,
• roune inspecons,
• the depressurizaon of the dryer for maintenance operaons.
