1.0 INT ODUCTION
Th Navman MDT-850 is a Mobil Data T rminal that s nds and r c iv s two-way t xt m ssag s
from th dashboard to th Onlin AVL application load d on a PC at your offic . Th MDT-850 can
s nd pr s t r pli s or outbound m ssag s.
2.0 GETTING STA TED
On installation or r s t of th unit, th MDT-850 displays a start scr n that indicat s th product
nam and softwar v rsion/dat . Aft r a f w s conds, th display chang s to th r c iv d
m ssag scr n.

2-5/7’ indicat s that you can vi w m ssag s #2 to #5 out of 7 m ssag s in total). Pr ssing th
‘Pag Up & Down’ k ys will allow you to vi w your oth r m ssag s.
If a m ssag has mor than 4 lin s, th ‘Titl Bar’ will stat which lin is b ing vi w d ( g ‘Lin 1-
4/6’ indicat s th MDT-850 scr n is displaying lin s 1 to 4 out of 6 lin s).
M ssag s finishing with ‘…’ indicat s th xist nc of a sub-group of additional r ply m ssag to
choos from. To vi w a sub-group, pr ss th s l ction k y matching th sub-group m ssag .
5.0 MESSAGES

5.4 TO SEND AN OUTBOUND MESSAGE
This is s nding a m ssag to th Onlin AVL application that is not associat d with r c iving an
inbound m ssag on th MDT-850 t rminal.

2. Pr ss th ‘Pag Up’ and ‘Pag Down’ k ys to display th r ply options
3. Pr ss th ‘S l ction’ k y that match s th m ssag you want

5.5 TO EDIT A MESSAGE
This is only for pr s t r ply m ssag s with numb r d ar as.

2. Us th ‘Right’ and ‘L ft Function k ys to s l ct th digits that n d diting
3. Us th ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ Function k ys to dit th valu

6.0 D IVE ID
If th Driv r ID (Driv r Id ntification) functionality has b n nabl d for you MDT by an Onlin AVL
us r, th n a driv r is r quir d to nt r a Driv r PIN to confirm th ir Driv r ID (d t rmin d by an
Onlin AVL us r).
Th Driv r PIN (P rsonal Id ntification Numb r) must b nt r d within a c rtain tim fram
(d t rmin d by an Onlin AVL us r, g 40 s conds) aft r which th MDT will b p until a corr ct
Driv r PIN has b n nt r d.
6.1 HOW TO LOGON
1. Th Driv r ID Logon scr n will app ar on th MDT 10-12 s conds aft r th ignition is
turn d on
2. Th numb r ‘0’ will app ar in th spac of th first digit. Us th ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ Function
k y to chang this digit to th first digit of your Driv r PIN

3. Us th ‘Right’ Function k y to mov to th spac of th n xt
digit of th Driv r PIN. R p at st p 2 to s l ct th numb r
4. R p at st ps 2 & 3 until you hav ins rt d your compl t Driv r PIN
5. Pr ss ‘ENTER’ to confirm Driv r PIN. Th MDT will th n s nd your PIN numb r back to
Onlin AVL for auth ntication. Confirmation may tak a f w minut s d p nding on c llular
n twork cov rag .
If you have entered the CO ECT D IVE PIN
6. Th Driv r ID Status scr n will app ar with d tails of your nam
7. Pr ss any k y on th MDT to xit th scr n
If you have entered an INCO ECT D IVE PIN
8. Th Driv r ID Status scr n will app ar with ‘Logon Fail d’
9. Pr ss th ‘Backspac ’ k y to xit th scr n
10. Th Driv r ID Logon Scr n will r app ar to r qu st your logon. Follow st ps 2-7

imm diat ly so th y can r -confirm your Driv r PIN and/or ch ck why your Driv r PIN is in

6.2 HOW TO LOGOFF
1. Pr ss th ‘ENTER’ k y twic
2. Th Driv r ID scr n will app ar
3. Us th appropriat ‘S l ction’ k y to s l ct ‘Logoff’
4. Th Driv r ID Logoff scr n will app ar
5. Pr ss ‘Ent r’ to confirm your logoff OR pr ss th ‘Exit’ k y to canc l th action
Not : If you hav logg d off th Driv r ID but hav not turn d th ignition off, th n th Driv r ID
Logon scr n will app ar r qu sting you to logon.
6.3 IF THE MDT IS BEEPING
Th MDT will b p to r mind you to logon with a Driv r PIN. You can stop th b ping by nt ring
a valid PIN numb r. If you hav not b ing assign d a Driv r PIN and th MDT is b ping, contact
your offic imm diat ly.
6.4 IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF COVE AGE
If th v hicl is out of cov rag wh n you ar ins rting th Driv r PIN, th Halo Qub tracking
d vic will stor th information and will s nd it wh n it is back in cov rag .
If you hav not logg d on whil in an out of cov rag ar a, th MDT will not b p until it is back in
cov rag .
