CALLING
Ensurethe phone is switched on and in service. Enter the phone number,
includingthearea code, then press . To end a call, press . Toanswer
acall,press .
EMERGENCY CALLS
Ensure the phone is switchedon and in service.Disconnecttheconnectivity
cable,ifattached.Press asmanytimesasneeded(e.g.toexitacall,toexit
amenu,etc.)to clear the display. Enter the emergency number,then press
.Give your location. Do not end the call until toldto do so.

■Access codes
•Security code (5 to 10 digits): The security code protectsyourphone against
unauthoriseduse, and is suppliedwith the phone. Thepresetcode is 12345.
Changethe code, and keepthenew code secretandin a safe placeseparate
fromyourphone.Tochangethecode,andtosetthephonetorequestthecode,
see"Securitysettings"on page 99.
•PIN code and PIN2 code (4 to 8 digits): ThePIN (Personal Identification
Number)code protects your SIMcardagainst unauthorised use.ThePIN code
isusually supplied with theSIM card.
Setthe phone torequestthe PIN codeeachtimethe phone isswitched on, see
"Securitysettings"on page 99.
ThePIN2 code may besuppliedwith the SIMcardand is required toaccess
somefunctions, such as chargingunit counters.

Ifyou key in anincorrect PIN code threetimesin succession, thephonemay
displaySIM blocked and ask youto enter the PUKcode. Contact your service
providerto obtain the PUKcode.
•PUK and PUK2 codes (8 digits): The PUK (PersonalUnblockingKey) code is
requiredto change a blockedPINcode. The PUK2codeis required to changea
blockedPIN2 code.
Ifthe codes are notsuppliedwith the SIMcard, contact your localservice
providerfor the codes.
•Barring password (4 digits): Thebarring password isneededwhen using the
Call barring service,see "Security settings" onpage99. You canobtainthe
passwordfrom your service provider.
■Shared memory
Thefollowing features in thisphonemay share memory:phonebook, text and
multimediamessages, images and ringingtonesin gallery, calendar,to-donotes,
andJava games and applications.Usingany such featuresmayreduce the
memoryavailable for any featuressharingmemory. This isespecially truewith
heavyuse of any ofthefeatures (although someofthe features may havea
certainamount of memory specially allotted to theminadditiontotheamountof
memoryshared with other features).For example, saving manyimagesor Java
applicationsmay take all ofthe shared memory andyourphone may displaya
messagethat the memory isfull. In this case,delete some of theinformation or
entriesstored in the sharedmemory features before continuing.

■Digital music player and recorder
Yourphone has an integrateddigital music player andrecorder.You can listento
MP3and AAC musicfileson a memorycard in yourphoneusing a headsetorvia
theinternal loudspeaker. You canrecord music fromtheradio or fromexternal
audioequipment. The music tracksyourecord are savedonthe memory card in
yourphone. The music playeralso supports M3U playlists.See "Music (Menu 7)"
onpage 101.
Youcan transfer music filesand playlists from acompatible PC tothememory
cardinyourphoneusingtheNokiaAudioManagerPCsoftwareontheCD-ROMin
thesales package . Onceyouhave installed Nokia AudioManager, it is also
possible touse Windows Explorerto transfer musicfiles and playlists.See "Nokia

■FM Stereo radio
Yourphone has an integratedFM stereo radio. Youcanlisten to theradiousing a
compatibleheadsetorviatheinternalloudspeaker.See"Music(Menu 7)"onpage

■Music key
Yourphone has a specialMusic key to quicklyturn on the Musicplayerand the
radio.The Music key enablesyou to switch quicklybetweenthe music
applications,and turn the musicoff.
■Loudspeaker
Youcan listen to musicand the radio viatheintegrated loudspeaker.
■Polyphonic sound
Polyphonicsound consists of severalsound components played atthesame time
likea real melody througha speaker. Polyphonic soundscanbe used inringing
tonesand message alert tones.Yourphone has soundcomponentsfrom over 128
instrumentsthat can be usedforpolyphonic sounds butthephone can play 24
instrumentssimultaneously. The phone supportsScalablePolyphonic MIDI (SP-
MIDI)format.
Youcan receive polyphonic ringingtones via multimedia networkservice,see
"Reading and replyingto a multimedia message" onpage75,or download them
viathe gallery menu (networkservice),see "Gallery (Menu8)" on page 110.

■JavaTM applications
Yourphone supports Java 2Micro Edition (J2METM),whichis a versionofJava
technologyspecifically designed for smallconsumer electronics products. The
phoneincludes some Java applicationsandgames, and supportsdownloading
newapplications and games fromdifferentWAP services. See"Applications
(Menu11)" on page 118.
■Multimedia messaging service (MMS)
Thephone is able tosend multimedia messages composedoftext and apicture,
andto receive messages containingtext,a picture andsound.You can save the
picturesand ringing tones forpersonalising your phone. See"Multimedia
messages"onpage 72. Multimediamessagingis a network service.
■General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
GPRStechnology allows mobile phonestobe used forsendingand receiving data
overthe mobile network (networkservice). GPRS as suchisa data bearerthat
enableswireless access to datanetworkslikethe Internet. Theapplicationsthat
mayuse GPRS are WAPservices, MMS and SMSmessaging,and Java application
downloading.
Before you can use GPRS technology
• Contactyour network operator orservice provider for availability,pricingand
subscriptionto the GPRS service.

■Over the Air (OTA) settings service
Inorder to useWAP,MMS, GPRS andother wireless services, youneed to have
propersettings on your phone.You may receive thesettingsdirectly as anOTA
(OverThe Air) message andyouonly need tosavethe settings on yourphone. For
moreinformation on availability ofthesettings, contactyournearest authorised
Nokiadealer.
■Memory card
Yourphone comes with apre-installed and pre-formatted 64MBmemory card to
storeyour music files, yourdownloaded Java applications andgames,and AAC/
MIDI/MP3ringing tones you havereceived or downloaded. See"Memory card" on
page127.
Youcan also back upandrestore your PhonebookandCalendar, text messages,
andbookmarks to and fromamemory card. See"Backup andrestore"on page
126.
Useonly memory cards thatarecompatible with yourphone.Memory cards
formattedand data stored usinganotherdevice may appearcorruptedon your
Nokia3300 phone. You canuse up to128MB compatible memorycardsin your
phone.See "Removing andinstallingthe memory card"onpage 33.
