Insert the (U)SIM card and battery
(U)SIM card is an enhanced version of the SIM card and is su orted
by UMTS mobile hones.
Kee all SIM cards out of the reach of small children.
Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before
removing the battery.
For availability and information on using SIM card services,
contact your SIM card vendor. This may be the service rovider
or other vendor.
 With the back of the device facing you, ress the release button
(1), slide the cover (2), and lift it u .
 Insert the (U)SIM card into the slot. Ensure that the bevelled
corner on the card is inserted first, and that the contact area
on the card is facing down.
 Insert the battery. Ensure that the contacts on the to of the
battery are facing the connectors on the device.
 To re lace the back cover, osition the cover onto the device,
and slide the cover until it clicks into lace.

Switch the device on
 Press and hold
 If the device asks for a (U)PIN code or lock code, enter the
code (dis layed as ****), and ress the left selection key.
The (U)PIN code is usually su lied with the (U)SIM card.
The factory setting for the lock code is 12345. For more
information on the access codes, see Security in the
user guide.
Your device has internal antennas.
Note:
As with any radio transmitting device, avoid touching
an antenna unnecessarily when the antenna is in use.
For exam le, avoid touching the cellular antenna
during a hone call. Contact with a transmitting or
receiving antenna affects the quality of the radio
communication, may cause the device to o erate at
a higher ower level than otherwise needed, and may
reduce the battery life.

Charge the battery
 Connect a com atible charger to a wall outlet.
 Connect the ower cord to the device. The device can
be used while charging. If the battery is com letely
discharged, it may take a while before the charging
indicator starts scrolling.
 When the battery is fully charged, the charging
indicator sto s scrolling. Disconnect the charger from
the device, then from the wall outlet.
You can also use the Nokia Charger Ada ter CA-44 to
charge the battery with older com atible Nokia charger

MMS and mobile Internet settings
Your Nokia device normally has MMS, GPRS, streaming, and
mobile Internet settings automatically configured in the device,
based on your service rovider information.
Dis lays
 Remove any rotective lastic films covering the dis lays.
 A small number of missing, discoloured, or bright dots may
a ear on the screen. This is a characteristic of this ty e of
dis lay. Some dis lays may contain ixels or dots that
remain on or off. This is normal, not a fault.
