You can restrict access to or from the internet
from within your home subnetwork in several
ways:
■IP lter
■MAC lter
■Controlling access to websites
IP lter
IP ltering enables you to name the IP address
of a device within your subnet (for example,
192.1.x.x), and restrict the ow of certain types
of IP data to or from that device, based on the
IP address. Restricted content is discarded as it
passes through the ONT.
1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select
the icon [Figure 2], then select the
Advanced Settings option.
2. Select the IP Filter option, and you will be
directed to the IP Filter screen.
3. From the IP Filter screen, select the Enable
option, then you will be directed to the IP
Filter detail screen.
Figure 13
Figure 14

12 Nokia Smart Home user guide
4. From the IP Filtering detail screen , select
the Mode option, which will allow you to pick
the ltering type:
Drop for upstream: Residential gateway will
drop all trac originating from the specied
device.
Drop for downstream: Residential gateway
will drop all trac with a destination to the
specied device.
5. Select the Device option, which will allow
you to either select a known device from
the ONU memory or manually register a
new device.
6. Select the Protocol option to allow you to
select specic types of trac for ltering
or to lter all trac.
MAC ltering
Equipment in your network is identied by the
unique MAC address assigned to that device.
You can restrict which devices have access to
the internet according to their MAC address
by allowing or blocking access for the devices
listed (your choice).
1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select
the icon [Figure 2], then select the
Advanced Settings option.
2. Select the Mac Filter option, and you will
be directed to the Mac Filtering screen.
From this screen, you can Enable or Disable
the MAC lter option in the ONT. You can
Block or Allow lists of MAC addresses.
3. Select the + option to add a specic
Mac address.
Figure 15
Figure 16

13 Nokia Smart Home user guide
4. Next, type in the MAC address you would
like to lter on either the block or allow lists
here, then select Done.
■The Block option will block all listed MAC
addresses from reaching the home network.

How to assign IP
address to devices
in your network
Dynamic Host Conguration Protocol (DHCP)
enables the ONT to function as a DHCP server
that can automatically assign an IP address to
devices in your network from a predened range
of addresses. This is benecial when you have
multiple devices to prevent duplicate addresses
being assigned.
Alternatively, you can manually specify a static
(unchanging) IP address to congure the ONT
to function as a DHCP server and assign IP
addresses.
1. From the Home/Dashboard screen, select
the icon [Figure 2], then select the
Advanced Settings option.
