Der Farbgeneratoristwerksseitig fur AnschluB an 220VWech-
selspannung eingestellt. Fur den Betrieb an 110 V Wechsel-
spannungkanndasGerMamNetztransformatordurch Umloten
der Primar-Wicklung umgeschaltetwerden. Die elektronische
Regelung im Netzteil ermoglicht den Betrieb des Gerates bei
220V
f 10%bzw. 110 V i 10%.
Bei Umschaltung auf 110V ist zu beachten, daR die Sicherung
0,315 A ausgewechselt wirdgegenT0,630 A.
Mit dem Schutzleiter im Schutzkontaktstecker ist das Gerat
uber das Lichtnetz geerdet. Der Schutzleiter ist am Gehause
angeschlossen (VDE 0411 Schutzklasse I). Fernsehgerate, die
Netzpotentialam Chassis fiihren, sind aus Sicherheitsgrunden
stets iiber einen Trenntransformator anzuschliel3en. Zur Ver-
meidung von Brummschleifen kann es zweckma8ig sein, in
MeBplatzen von mehreren Geraten jeweils nur eines uber
Schutzleiter zu erden unddie Betriebserdeder ubrigenGerate
auf das eine Netzgeerdete zu beziehen.
2.3 BedienungselementeundAnschluSbuchsen
Der Farbgenerator ist uber Drucktastenwahlschalter auf die
gewiinschte Betriebsart, z. B. Farbe, Schwarz-WeiR mit oder
ohne Ton, Internoder Externeinzustellen.
In der Frontansicht Abb. 1 sind samtliche Schalter, Knopfe
undBuchsenmitBezugszahlen versehen.IndieserReihenfolge
ist anschliesend die Bedeutung der einzelnen Bedienungs-
elemente erlautert. Die beiden Drucktastenschaltern angege-
benenBetriebsarten beziehen sichjeweils auf den gedriickten
Zustand.
2.1 Mainsconnection
The colour generator is factory adjusted for 220 V AC. For
operation on 110V AC the connectionstothe primarywindings
ofthe mainstransformer mustbeunsolderedandchangedover.
The electronic regulator in the power unit makes possible
operation of the instrument on 220
V f 10% or 110 V f 10%
respectively.
WhenchangingovertollOV,thefuseT0,315Amustbereplaced
withaT0,630 A.
2.2 Earthing
The instrument is earthed over the mains network through the
earth pole on the mains plug. The earth pole is connected to
the instrument casing (VDE 0411 safety class I). Television
receivers that have their chassis at mains potential should,
through grounds of safety, beoperated over an isolating trans-
former. To avoid hum pick upit may be expedient where more
thanone receiverisconnectedtoatestbench, onlytoearthone
over the mainsearthandconnectingthe operatingearthsofthe
other receiver toit.
2.3 Controlsand sockets
The colour generator is set to the desired operating mode.
e. g. Colour, Monochrome with or without sound, internal or
externalby push-buttonselector switches.
In the front view fig. 1, all the switches knobs and sockets
are indicatedbyreference numbers. Inthis sequencethe func-
tion of individualcontrols isexplainedbelow.
The markings given on the push-buttons refer to the depressed
position.

2.4 GrundeinstellungdesGerates

antenna sockets of television receivers is delivered with the
instrument.
For connecting to older receivers with 240
C? antennasockets
we recommendthe connection cable type 308.02.
2.4 Basicadjustment of instrument
For normal operation the following push-buttons and control
positions are selected:
1. Mainsswitch on.
2. Operatingmode: Colour (buttong) or crosshatch (button14)
depressed.
3. PAL switch (10) inposition "PAL"
4. Burstcontroldepressed (cal.).
5. HF attenuator to0 - dB.
6. SelectHF range(VHF
I; VHF Illor UHF).
7. Set the HF oscillator to the desired channel and then tune
the receiver optimally to the generator frequency, or use
fine-tuning 24.

Anmerkung zur richtigenHF-Einstellung:
Wie in Abschnitt 3.2.2 beschrieben ist, wird bei diesem Gene-
rator ein HF-Signal optimal moduliert und je nach Frequenz-
bereich mlt einer durchstimmbaren Tragerfrequenz gemischt.
Beim Mischvorgang entstehende Seitenbander lassen insbe-
sondere im UHF-Bereich und
in Band Ill die Moglichkeit zu,
da8 auf das verkehrte Seitenbandeingestellt wird.
Eswirddaherempfohlen,nachfolgendemSchemavorzugehen:
Bei normalempfindlichen Fernsehempfangern geniigt ein ge-
ringerer HF-Pegel; daher HF-Ausgangsregleram FG 3360 auf
ca. 10 dB
... 20 dB einstellen. Danach die HF-Abstimmung
(Regler 23) vom linken Anschlag kommend langsam rechts-
herumdrehen, bisder Bildschirmdunkel gesteuert wird.
Diese Einstellung entspricht dem Abgleich auf die HF-Trager-
frequenz (f~).BeimlangsamenWeiterdrehen im Uhrzeigersinn
wird nach ca. 27 MHz das
richtige Seitenband erreicht und
nun optimalam Empfangereingestellt.
1stderFG3360aufvolleAusgangsspannungeingestellt,sokann
beim weiteren Drehen im Uhrzeigersinndie Mischung mit den
Oberwellen des modulierten ZF-Signals gefunden werden. Auf
dieses schwachere Signal, sowie auf die vor Erreichen des
Tragersignals erkennbaren seitenverkehrten Mischprodukte
sol1nicht eingestellt werden! Siehe hierzu Abb.
2.
Advice for correctHFadjustment
As describedinparagraph3.2.2,thisgenerator optimum modu-
lates an RFsignalandaccording to the frequency range mixes
it with atunable carrier frequency.
The mixing procedure produces sidebands which admit the
possibility, especially in the UHF range and in band
Ill, of
tuning tothewrongsideband.
It is therefore recommended that the following procedure
be adopted:
With normally sensitive television receivers it is sufficient to
employ a lower HF level; thereby adjustthe HF output control
to about 10dB
... 20 dB. Next rotate the HFoutput (control 23)
slowly clockwise from the left hand side, until the picture
screen is made to go dark. This adjustment corresponds to
alignment to the
c carrier frequency (f~).Further clockwise
rotation of about 25 MHz will ~roducethe
correct sideband
which canbeoptimum tuned on the televisionreceiver.
If the FG 3360 is set to full output level, further clockwise
rotation will find the mixing of the harmonic of the modulated
IF signal. Do not tune to this weaker signal or to the signal
which appears before the carrier signalisreached.See hereto
fig.

Operationin band I
As already mentioned above, and as can be seen from the
circuitdiagram(page14).acrystalcontrolledoscillatorfrequen-
cy of 27.125 MHzis employed as acarrier for the vision modula-
tion of the colour composite video signal. The harmonic of
this signal lies at 54.25 MHz and thereby in the vicinity of the
vision carrier ofchannel
3 (55.25MHz).
Itispossible here,due tothe designof the instrument,for Moire

3.1 MechanlscherAufbau
Der FG 3360 ist in einem Nordmende-Standardgehause unter-
gebracht. Es ermoglicht den Stapelaufbau und paBt in Breite
und Hohe in das 19"-System. Nach Abschrauben der oberen
Abdeckplatte sind alle Baueinheiten zu erreichen. Die Schal-
tung des FG 3360 ist entsprechend ihrer Funktion auf acht
Steckplatinen aufgeteilt. Zwei davon, Tragergenerator und
Modulator, befinden sich in einem abgeschirtnten Gehause.
Die UIV-Achsenplatte ist durch Losen einer Schraube nach
links ausschwenkbar. Alle Platinen sind leicht auswechselbar
und bei Reparaturen uber eine Adapterplatte zu betreiben.
Das Netzteil ist auf der Grundplatine untergebracht. Alle ab-
geschirmten Leitungensind mit Steckverbindungen versehen.
3.2 Schaltungsbeschreibung
Das Blockschaltbild Abb. 4 zeigt die Hauptbaugruppen des
FG 3360undihrZusammenwirken.

Abridged description
3.1 Mechanicalconstruction
The FG 3360 is built into a Nordmende standard casing. This
makes possible the stacking of instruments on a test bench
and matches in width and height to the
19" system. All circuit
elements are accessible when the top cover plate is removed.
The circuitry of the
FG 3360 according to function is divided
amongst eight plug in printed boards. Two of these, carrier
generator and modulator, are contained inside a screened
compartment. The
UIV axis board.can be swung out to the
left by loosening one screw. All the printed boards are easily
replaceable, and should repair be necessary can be made
accessible by the use of adapter boards. The power unif
is mounted on the main board. All screened wiring is fitted
with plugconnections.
