INSTALLATION GUIDE
General Description
Up to 4 Unique Sounds can be selected with the
Sound Select Switch. A Sound Selection & Setup
Quick Reference Chart is included with each Unit.
Custom Sounds are available per customer request.
Volume Adjustment
The volume is factory preset for 66dB @ 1m sound
output, which reflects minimal street activity (noise).
As the ambient noise rises, the sound output
automatically increases proportionately to a
maximum of 90dB @ 1m.
The volume adjustment on the faceplate facilitates
simple installation. Turn the control clockwise to
increase the volume.
If the volume must be altered, it is best adjusted
during a time of low street noise.
Installation
Refer to Circuit Board Illustration overleaf.
1) Remove DS100 from packaging and check for
possible damage. If damaged, obtain an RMA from
Novax and return for replacement.
2) Check Model Number on underside of Unit for
correct type and options. Each Unit is factory-set
to Chirp. To change sound type, unscrew faceplate
and adjust Sound Select Switch per the DIP
Switch Chart on inside of the enclosure.
Re-attach Faceplate.
3) Drill a hole suitable for a 1⁄2-Inch conduit into top
of Pedestrian Signal Head.
4) Place APS wires through hole, then mount swivel
fitting using lock washer and nut provided. Loosen
swivel-adjust lock nut and orient head so that it is
tilted forward approximately 10 to 20 degree’s in
direction of crosswalk. Tighten all fittings.
5) Terminate APS Wires in Pedestrian Head as
follows:
- Blue Walk Signal
- Orange Don’t Walk Signal (Refer To Note 1)
- White Neutral
- Green Ground/Chassis
- White/Black Input Common (Refer To Note 2)
- Black Input (Refer To Note 2)
(Note 1) Only required if Optional BAT board is installed.
(Note 2) These 2 wires are for Sound Inhibit (24VDC or
120VAC) or Button Actuated Timer, (BAT) Option.
Connect as follows:
- 24VDC for Model DS102A/104A 24 Typical
- 120VAC for Model DS102A/104A 120 Typical
- Ped Button Wires for Model DS102A/104A BAT
6) Check operation of APS with Walk Signal. No other
adjustment should be necessary.
7) If required, use a small blade screwdriver to reset
Volume Adjust. A clockwise rotation will increase
volume.
Note: Adjustment should be made in a relatively quiet
environment.
