IR EXTENDER SETUP
What is an IR Extender Cable?
The TB72 comes with an IR Receiver and IR Emitter that allows you to control your source device (e.g.,
Blu-Ray Player, Cable Box) with its remote from the Receiver’s location. The remote’s IR signal is transmit-
ted by the Receiver to the Transmitter and then through the IR Emitter to the source device.

Cut a piece of cardboard to the same size as the front panel of your source device and place a 1 inch
hole in the middle of the cardboard. Power ON your source device and play a movie or other video
content. Place the cardboard hole over the left side of the source device and using the source’s remove
control directly over the cardboard hole, press the pause button repetitively while gradually moving
the cardboard hole from left to right making sure to keep the remote control’s beam directly over the
cardboard hole. Once the source device recognizes the pause button being pressed, you have located
the position of the remote control IR sensor on the source device and that is where you will place the
IR Extender’s sensor.

The maximum range is 660 feet clear line of sight. If transmitting through walls, ceilings, oors, or other
obstacles, the range will be reduced. For best performance, place away from cordless phones, wireless
routers, or other wireless sources of interference.
Ensure that the remote control you are using is an IR remote control. The supported frequencies are
20-60 KHz. It is also important to conrm the location of the IR sensor on your device. If you are unsure
of the location please contact the manufacturer of your HDMI enabled product.
To transmit Full HD content wirelessly, the TB72 must process a large amount of data. Due to this, the
unit may run at warmer temperatures than other electronic devices. We have designed the housing to
provide proper ventilation to the unit as well as have designed the electronic components to withstand
temperatures up to 80°C. To ensure maximum performance, ensure both the Transmitter and Receiver
are in well ventilated areas that do not exceed 30°C, all ventilation openings are not covered, and all feet
are properly installed on the bottom of the receiver.
The Transmitter/Receiver may require a few seconds to connect. Ensure the correct HDMI video input is
selected on your TV and that your HDMI cables are connected properly. Check that your video resolution
from the source device is set to 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 576p, or 480p. Please ensure the TB72 is not located
near a wireless access point, as interference may affect connectivity.
The TB72 supports up to two receivers connected at one time but can only be connected to one
transmitter. If multiple TB72 units are used in a close environment cross connections can occur. The
TB72 receiver will always connect to the strongest available transmitter signal. Additional receivers are
available at www.nyrius.com
The loop-through connection on the TB72 transmitter supports up to 1080p video. 4K and UHD content
is not supported by the loop-through HDMI output.
