The Ocenco M-40 SCSR-S is a belt worn or
stored, compressed-oxygen, self-contained self-
rescuer (Type D). The M-40 SCSR instantly
provides breathable air, independent of the
surrounding atmosphere, to a person escaping
from any area of toxic gas or oxygen deficiency.
The M-40 has a rated duration of 30 minutes in
accordance with EN 13794:2002. The “S” suffix
denotes the M-40 is designed and approved for
underground use.
DONNING PROCEDURE
The following are the donning steps for the belt
worn or stored configuration of the M-40 SCSR.
Warning: These six steps must be practiced
numerous times until they become second
nature.
1. Lift yellow lever and remove cover.
2. Remove unit by pulling yellow strap upwards.

3. Insert yellow mouthpiece.
4. Fit yellow nose clip.
5. Pull the head harness over the head.
6. Purge contents of bag, inhale through mouth,
and escape.
Put on Eye Protection:
If unit is equipped with goggles, pull the goggles
over the head. After donning the goggles,
prescription eyeglasses may be worn by guiding
the eyeglass temples through the channels
provided.
If unit is equipped with face shield, pull the face
shield over the head and pull outward on the o-
rings to tighten the face shield around the neck.
SERVICE LIFE
The M-40 SCSR may remain in service for
15 years from the date of manufacture, provided
the conditions of use are observed.
The M-40 SCSR must be either stored or belt
worn, according to the conditions of use,
throughout its service life.

The M-40 SCSR may be deployed in the belt
worn configuration for 5 continuous years during
its 15-year service life. The 5-year belt worn
period begins when the M-40 SCSR is first
deployed, for any length of time, in the belt worn
configuration and ends 5 years from the date of
this deployment.
After the M-40 SCSR has been deployed in the
belt worn configuration for 5 continuous years, it
must be returned to Ocenco Incorporated to be
refurbished, after which it may be re-deployed in
the belt worn configuration for 5 years or
deployed in the stored configuration.
HOW TO INSPECT THE M-40 SCSR
M-40 SCSR inspections are visual. DO NOT
open the clear case to inspect the M-40 SCSR. If
belt worn, the following visual inspection should
be conducted at the beginning of each work shift
that the unit is worn:
1. Read the pressure gauge.
The tip of the white needle on the gauge is
normally in the green zone when the
surrounding air temperature is between 18°
and 24°C. If the needle is in the red or on the
white zero pressure mark, remove the M-40
SCSR from service. If the view of the gauge is
obstructed, the M-40 SCSR must be removed
from service.
If belt worn or stored, the following visual
inspections should be conducted every two
years:
1. Read the pressure gauge.
2. Visually inspect the apparatus for indications
of abuse. Indications of abuse are listed
below. If any of these signs are present, the
M-40 SCSR must be removed from service:
a) Case cracked, burned, deformed, or
excessively worn.
b) Excessive gap between cover and base.
c) Damaged latch or cover band.
d) Dirt, debris, or moisture visible through
case.
e) Missing tamper indicating ball from yellow
lever on band assembly.
If the M-40 SCSR fails any of the listed
inspections or if at any time during its life the
pressure gauge is out of the green zone or the
indications of abuse are observed, the unit
should be removed from service.

HOW TO CARE FOR THE M-40 SCSR
The M-40 SCSR is designed to be belt worn or
stored in a confined space environment.
However, like all escape breathing devices it is
not indestructible.
Abusing your M-40 SCSR is risking your life in
the event of an emergency.
Abusing someone else’s M-40 SCSR should be
considered a criminal offense.
Your life may depend on the care you give your
M-40 SCSR. Avoid the most common abuses:
If the M-40 SCSR is accidentally opened, DO
NOT close it, remove it from service.
DO NOT drop the M-40 SCSR, particularly when
taking off the belt to which it is attached.
DO NOT clean the M-40 SCSR with anything
other than a soft brush. Disinfection is not
required.
1. DO NOT immerse the M-40 SCSR in water.
2. DO NOT sit on the M-40 SCSR.
3. DO NOT drag the M-40 SCSR on the ground.
4. DO NOT place the M-40 SCSR near heat
greater than 70°C.
5. DO NOT put tape or stickers on the M-40
SCSR that would impede its opening or the
reading of the gauge.
WHEN TO USE THE M-40 SCSR
The M-40 SCSR should be used immediately at
the first indication of a fire or explosion, even if
smoke is not visible. Carbon monoxide is
odorless and colorless. You could breathe a fatal
amount of carbon monoxide before smoke is
present. If you suspect an oxygen deficient
atmosphere, put on the M-40 SCSR, don’t wait!
Some of the possible indications of an
emergency are:
1. Sight of smoke
2. Smell of smoke
3. Sight of fire
4. Fire or toxic gas alarm
5. Sudden increase of air temperature
6. Sound of an explosion
7. Vibrations of an explosion
8. Interruption of air flow
9. Someone around you has difficulty breathing
or passes out
In the event of an emergency, always don your
M-40 SCSR before attempting to escape or help
others.

WARNING.
1. Failure to properly use and maintain this
product could result in injury or death.
2. Never substitute, modify, add, or omit parts.
3. Approved for use at temperatures above -5°C.
4. The maximum recorded surface temperature

Ocenco M-40 SCSR-S ist ein am Gürtel
getragenes oder gelagertes, in sich
geschlossenes Selbstrettungsgerät mit
komprimiertem Sauerstoff (Typ D). Das M-40
SCSR versorgt prompt eine aus einem Bereich
mit toxischen Gasen oder Sauerstoffmangel
fliehende Person mit atembarer Luft, unabhängig
von der Umgebungsatmosphäre. Das M-40 hat
eine Nutzungsdauer von 30 Minuten gemäß EN
13794:2002. Das Suffix „S“ zeigt an, dass das
M-40 für den unterirdischen Einsatz ausgelegt
und zugelassen ist.
ANLEGEN VORGEHENSWEISE
Im Folgenden sind die Anlegeschritte für das
M-40 SCSR in am Gürtel getragener oder
gelagerter Konfiguration beschrieben.
Warnung: Diese sechs Schritte sind zahlreich zu
üben, bis sie automatisch werden.
1. Den gelben Hebel heben und die Abdeckung
entfernen.
2. Entfernen Sie das Gerät, indem Sie das gelbe
Armband nach oben ziehen

3. Gelbes Mundstück einsetzen.
4. Gelbe Nasenklemme anlegen.
5. Den Kopfgurt über den Kopf ziehen.
6. Inhalt des Beutels entlüften, durch den Mund
einatmen und entweichen.
Augenschutz aufsetzen:
Wenn das Gerät mit einer Schutzbrille ausgestattet ist,
die Schutzbrille über den Kopf ziehen. Nach dem
Aufsetzen der Schutzbrille können
verschreibungspflichtige Brillen getragen werden, indem
die Brillenbügel durch die vorgesehenen Kanäle geführt
werden.
Wenn das Gerät mit einem Gesichtsschutz ausgestattet
ist, den Gesichtsschutz über den Kopf ziehen und die
O-Ringe nach außen ziehen, um den Gesichtsschutz
um den Hals festzuziehen.
NUTZUNGSDAUER
Das M-40 SCSR darf 15 Jahre ab Herstellungsdatum in
Betrieb bleiben, sofern die Nutzungsbestimmungen
eingehalten werden.
Das M-40 SCSR muss entsprechend den
Nutzungsbestimmungen während seiner gesamten
Nutzungsdauer entweder gelagert oder am Gürtel
getragen werden.

Das M-40 SCSR kann während seiner 15-jährigen
Nutzungsdauer 5 Jahre kontinuierlich in der am Gürtel
getragenen Konfiguration eingesetzt werden. Die
5-jährige Periode des Gürtel-Tragens beginnt, wenn
M-40 SCSR zum ersten Mal für eine beliebige Zeitdauer
in der Konfiguration für das Tragen am Gürtel eingesetzt
wird, und endet 5 Jahre nach dem Datum dieses
Einsatzes.
Nachdem das M-40 SCSR 5 Jahre lang in der am Gürtel
getragenen Konfiguration eingesetzt wurde, muss es zur
Überholung an Ocenco Incorporated zurückgegeben
werden, wonach es erneut für 5 Jahre in der am Gürtel
getragenen oder gelagerten Konfiguration eingesetzt
werden kann.
PRÜFUNG DES M-40 SCSR
M-40 SCSR-Prüfungen sind visuell. ES IST
VERBOTEN, das durchsichtige Gehäuse zu öffnen, um
das M-40 SCSR zu prüfen. Wenn der Gürtel abgenutzt
ist, sollte zu Beginn jeder Arbeitsschicht die folgende
visuelle Prüfung durchgeführt werden, damit der
Abnutzungsgrad des Geräts kontrolliert würde:
1. Das Druckmessgerät ablesen.
Die Spitze der weißen Nadel des Messgeräts
befindet sich normalerweise im grünen Bereich,
wenn die Umgebungstemperatur zwischen 18°C und
24°C liegt. Befindet sich die Nadel im roten Bereich
oder auf der weißen Nulldruck-Marke, das M-40
SCSR außer Betrieb nehmen. Ist die Sicht auf das
Messgerät behindert, muss das M-40 SCSR außer
Betrieb genommen werden.
Beim abgenutzten oder gelagerten Gürtel sollten
zweijährlich folgende visuelle Inspektionen durchgeführt
werden:
1. Das Druckmessgerät ablesen.
2. Das Gerät visuell auf Anzeichen von Missbrauch
untersuchen. Die Anzeichen von Missbrauch sind
unten aufgeführt. Gibt es eines der folgenden
Anzeichen, muss das M-40 SCSR außer Betrieb
genommen werden:
a) Das Gehäuse ist gesprungen, verbrannt,
verformt oder übermäßig abgenutzt.
b) Übermäßiger Spalt gibt es zwischen Deckel und
Basis.
c) Verriegelung oder Abdeckband ist beschädigt.
d) Schmutz, Ablagerungen oder Feuchtigkeit sind
durch das Gehäuse sichtbar.
e) Manipulationsanzeigekugel im gelben Hebel an
der Bandbaugruppe fehlt.
Besteht ein M-40 SCSR eine der bezeichneten
Prüfungen nicht oder liegt die Nadel des
Druckmessgeräts zu irgendeinem Zeitpunkt während
der Lebensdauer außerhalb des grünen Bereichs oder
gibt es Anzeichen von Missbrauch, sollte das Gerät
außer Betrieb genommen werden.

PFLEGE FÜR DAS M-40 SCSR
Das M-40 SCSR ist so ausgelegt, dass es am Gürtel
getragen oder auf engstem Raum aufgelagert werden
kann.
Es ist jedoch, wie alle Fluchtatemgeräte, nicht
unzerstörbar.
Der Missbrauch von M-40 SCSR führt zu Risiken für das
Leben im Notfall.
Der Missbrauch von M-40 SCSR einer anderen Person
sollte als Straftat angesehen werden.
Das Leben kann von der Pflege für M-40 SCSR
abhängen. Bitte, die häufigsten Missbräuche vermeiden:
ES IST VERBOTEN, das M-40 SCSR zu schließen,
wenn es versehentlich geöffnet wird. M-40 SCSR
NICHT
fallen lassen, insbesondere wenn der Gürtel
abgenommen ist, an dem das Gerät befestigt ist.
ES IST VERBOTEN, das M-40 SCSR mit etwas
anderem als einer weichen Bürste zu reinigen. Eine
Desinfektion ist nicht erforderlich.

von Hitze über 70°C zu platzieren.

Aufkleber auf das M-40 SCSR anzubringen, das/der
das Öffnen oder das Ablesen des Messgeräts
behindert.
WANN SOLLTE DAS M-40 SCSR
VERWENDET WERDEN?
Das M-40 SCSR sollte sofort beim ersten Anzeichen
eines Feuers oder einer Explosion verwendet werden,
auch wenn kein Rauch sichtbar ist. Kohlenmonoxid ist
geruchlos und farblos. Sie können tödliche Mengen
Kohlenmonoxid einatmen, bevor der Rauch überhaupt
auftaucht. Ist eine sauerstoffarme Atmosphäre zu
vermuten, das M-40 SCSR anlegen, nicht warten!
Einige der möglichen Anzeichen für einen Notfall sind:
1. Anblick von Rauch
2. Geruch von Rauch
3. Anblick des Feuers
4. Feuer- oder Giftgasalarm
5. Plötzlicher Anstieg der Lufttemperatur
6. Geräusch der Explosion
7. Vibrationen einer Explosion
8. Unterbrechung des Luftstroms

Atembeschwerden oder Ohnmacht
Im Notfall immer das M-40 SCSR anlegen, bevor zu
fliehen versuchen oder anderen zu helfen.

GEBRAUCHSANLEITUNGEN
WARNUNG.
1. Eine unsachgemäße Verwendung und
Wartung dieses Produkts kann zu
Verletzungen oder zum Tod führen.

JAK DBAĆO URZĄDZENIE M-40 SCSR
Urządzenie M-40 SCSR zaprojektowane zostało do
noszenia na pasku lub przechowywania w zamkniętej
przestrzeni.
Jednak, podobnie jak wszelkie inne aparaty oddechowe,
nie jest niezniszczalne.
Nieprawidłowe obchodzenie sięz urządzeniem

KIEDY NALEŻY UŻYWAĆM-40 SCSR

L’Ocenco M-40 SCSR-S est un appareil respiratoire
autonome à oxygène comprimé de (Type D), qui peut
être porté à la ceinture ou stocké. Le M-40 SCSR fournit
instantanément de l’air respirable, indépendamment de
l’atmosphère environnante, à une personne s’échappant
de n’importe quelle zone de gaz toxique ou de carence
en oxygène. Le M-40 a une durée nominale de 30
minutes conformément à lanorme EN 13794:2002. Le
suffixe « S » indique que le M-40 est conçu et approuvé
pour une utilisation souterraine.
PROCÉDURE D’ENFILAGE
Voici les étapes d’enfilage pour la configuration à port à

COMMENT INSPECTER LE M-40 SCSR
Les inspections de M-40 SCSR sont visuelles. NE PAS

suivante doit être effectuée au début de chaque quart de
travail durant lequel l’unité est portée :
1. Lire le manomètre de pression.
La pointe de l’aiguille blanche sur le manometer est
normalement dans la zone verte lorsque la
température de l’air ambiant se situe entre 18° et
24°C. Si l’aiguille est dans la zone rouge ou sur la
marque de pression zero blanche, retirer le M-40
SCSR du service. Si la vue du manomètre est
obstruée, le M-40 SCSR doit être retiré du service.
Si porté à la ceinture ou stocké, les inspections visuelles
suivantes doivent être effectuées tous les deux ans:
1. Lire le manomètre de pression.
2. Inspecter visuellement l’appareil pour rechercher des
signes d’abus. Les indications d’abus sont
énumérées ci-dessous. Si l’un de ces signes est
présent, le M-40 SCSR doit être retiré du service:
a) Case fissurée, brûlée, déformée ou
excessivement usée.
b) Jeu excessif entre le couvercle et la base.
c) Latch ou bande de couvercle endommagé.
d) Saleté, débris ou humidité visible à travers la
case.
e) Boule indicateur d’effraction manquante sur le
levier jaune du dispositif de bande.
Si le SCSR M-40 échoue à l’une des inspections
répertoriées ou si, à tout moment au cours de sa durée
de vie, le manomètre de pression est hors si zone verte
ou de la des indications d’abus sont observées, l’unité
doit être retirée du service.

COMMENT ENTRETENIR LE M-40 SCSR
Le M-40 SCSR est conçu pour être porté à la ceinture
ou stocké dans un environnement confiné.
Cependant, comme tous les appareils respiratoires
d’évacuation, il n’est pas indestructible.
Abuser votre M-40 SCSR, peut mettre votre vie en
danger en cas d’urgence.
Abuser de le SCSR M-40 de quelqu’un d’autre devrait
être considéré comme une infraction pénale.
Votre vie peut dépendre des soins que vous apportez
à votre M-40 SCSR. Évitez les abus les plus courants :
Si le M-40 SCSR est ouvert accidentellement,
NE le refermer PAS, le retirer du service.
NE PAS Laissez tomber le M-40 SCSR, en particulier
lorsqu’il est détaché de la ceinture à laquelle i lest fixé.
NE NETTOYEZ PAS le M-40 SCSR avec autre chose
qu’une brosse douce. La désinfection n’est pas
nécessaire.
1. NE PAS immerger le M-40 SCSR dans l’eau.
2. NE PAS vous asseoir sur le M-40 SCSR.
3. NE PAS traîner le M-40 SCSR sur le sol.
4. NE PAS placer le SCSR M-40 près d’une source de
chaleur supérieure à 70 °C.
5. NE PAS mettre de ruban adhésif ou d’autocollants
sur le M-40 SCSR qui empêcherait son ouverture ou
la Lecture du manomètre.
QUAND UTILISER LE M-40 SCSR
Le M-40 SCSR doit être utilisé immédiatement dès la
première indication d’incendie ou d’explosion, même si
la fumée n’est pas visible. Le monoxyde de carbone est
inodore et incolore. Vous pourriez respirer une quantité
mortelle de monoxyde de carbone avant que de la fume
ne soit. Si vous soupçonnez la presence d’une
atmosphère pauvre en oxygène, mettez le M-40 SCSR,
