This guide contains instructions for basic oper ations to use the digital camera
immediately after purc hase. For details on opera tions and settings, refer to

Your new life of photography has begun.
What is QDock&Done?
Dock&Done is a total system that puts personal imaging into a single
process. For example, by simply setting the digital camera on the cradle,
new pictures are stored, photo printing is done and the camera’s batteries
are recharged.
Preparation
aOpen the battery/card cover.
Inserting the battery and card
Unpacking the box contents
Charge the supplied battery before use.
Note
Do not open the battery/card cover, disconnect the AC adapter, or remove the camera
from the cradle while the camera is operating or communicating with a computer. Such
actions could destroy all the data on the card. Once destroyed, data cannot be restored.
Charging the battery
bSet the camera on the cradle.
The mark on the camera connector dial indicates the orientation of the
camera when the camera is set on the cradle. Select the mark by turning
the camera connector dial according to the desired camera orientation.
Power on/off
Opening the multi-swing display.
The camera automatically turns
on when the display is opened.
The camera turns off when the
display is closed.
Pressing the power switch.
When the camera is off with the multi-swing display opened, press the
power switch to turn on the camera. The power lamp lights up.
To turn off the camera, press the power switch again.
Tips
• If the camera is not operated for a certain period of time, the camera automatically
enters the sleep mode (standby mode) to save battery power, and the power lamp
goes off. To cancel the sleep mode, press any button. You can select how long the
camera is on before it enters the sleep mode.
• When the camera has been turned on by opening the multi-swing display in the
shooting mode, if no operation is made in the first 30 seconds, the camera may turn
off automatically.

Make sure your box contains everything listed below. If any item is missing
or damaged, contact the dealer where you purchased the camera.

The power lamp slowly blinks during charging. The lamp goes off when
charging is complete.

User registration
To stay informed of important updates and news regarding your Olympus
product, be sure to register your purchase. You can register by one of the
following ways:
• Register online
Install the OLYMPUS Master software from the supplied CD-ROM.
When starting OLYMPUS Master after installation, the registration screen
appears.
• Use the registration card
Fill out the supplied registration card, and return it by mail.
aConnect the AC adapter to the cradle.
Tip
Make sure to turn off the camera by closing the multi-swing display or pressing the
power switch before charging. Charging cannot be performed when the camera’s power
is on.

Notes
• Insert the card by pushing it straight in (not at an angle).
• If you insert the card with wrong orientation or at an angle, the contact area could be
damaged or you may not be able to remove the card.
• Do not apply excessive force to the battery/card cover as it may be damaged.

Notes
• The power lamp blinks rapidly if an error occurs during charging. If this happens,
remove the battery from the camera and insert it again, or disconnect the AC adapter
from the cradle and connect it again.
• If you hold the cradle upside down with the camera set, the camera may fall out of
the cradle.
• Do not pick up by the camera only when it is set on the cradle.
Selecting the display language (W)
You can select the language in which the menus and error messages are
displayed on the monitor.

Tips
• The available display languages differ depending on the region where the
camera is sold.
• The available display languages can be added by updating the firmware. For
details, refer to the Olympus website.

Taking/Viewing/Erasing pictures
Easy shooting with P-AUTO (Program Auto) mode
You can easily take high-quality pictures with P-AUTO (Program Auto)
mode. In P-AUTO mode, the camera settings are automatically adjusted
according to the shooting situation to create the best results.
bPosition the AF target mark on the subject.
Turn the zoom lever to the T (U) or W (G) side to frame the subject.
aTurn the mode dial to
j.
cPress and hold the shutter button gently (half-press).
The green indicator lights up when the focus and exposure are locked.
If the subject is not in focus, the green indicator blinks. Recompose the
picture, and hold down the shutter button until the green indicator
lights up.
dPress the shutter button all the way (full-press).
The picture is taken and the card access lamp blinks. The shot image is
stored onto the card.
Note
Do not open the battery/card cover while the card access lamp is blinking. The
picture being written may not be stored or the stored image data may be damaged.
Viewing pictures
Press hafter shooting to see the
last shot image. To return to the
shooting mode, press hagain.
Erasing images
You can erase unwanted images on the card.
aDisplay the image to be
erased.

The “ERASE” screen appears.

Note
Erased images cannot be restored.
Tip
Check the video signal type before connecting to your TV.
NTSC: North America, Japan, Taiwan, Korea

Select NTSC or PALaccording to your TV video signal type. When you
use the camera with a TV overseas, set the correct video signal type in
accordance with the local system before connecting to the TV. If an incorrect
video signal type is set, the output images will not appear properly.
With the supplied OLYMPUS Master software installed, you can transfer,
manage and edit camera images with your computer.
Using images with your computer cInsert the other end of the USB cable into
the USB port on the cradle.
dSet the camera on the cradle
with the multi-swing display
opened.
eSelect “PC” in the “PC/PRINTER” screen,
then press 9.
Note
When the camera is connected to a computer, it cannot be used as a camera.
Connect the camera to your computer, and you can transfer images on the
card to your computer.
aInstall OLYMPUS Master.
AInsert the supplied software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of
your computer. The setup screen appears.
BClick [OLYMPUS Master].
CClick [Next], and operate according to the window messages.
DWhen the installation is complete, remove the CD-ROM from the
CD-ROM drive, and restart the computer.
bInsert the supplied USB cable into the USB port on your
computer.

Setting the date and time
Tip
If the date and time are not set, “Y/M/D” appears every time you turn on the camera.
The date and time are not preset. If you set the date and time, it will be
stored with shot images and available for printing images.

dto move to the year, month or date field, then press
a/cto select the desired number.
Press dto move to the next field.
Tips
• The first two digits of the year are unchangeable.
• The camera displays the time in 24-hour format (ex; 2 p.m. is displayed as
“14:00”).
Note
The date and time settings will be canceled if the camera is left with the battery
removed for more than one day (under the standard Olympus testing conditions). If this
occurs, set the date and time again. The date and time settings will be canceled earlier
if the battery has been loaded for a short period of time.

The clock starts operating.
fThe computer recognizes the camera as a new device.
Windows 98SE/Me/2000: The camera is recognized as a removable
disk.
Windows XP: Awindow is displayed, prompting you to select the
operation for image files. Click [CANCEL].
Mac OS X: The iPhoto application is activated when the camera is
connected for the first time. Terminate it.
g Start OLYMPUS Master.
Double click the [OLYMPUS Master] icon to display the main menu
window.

for OLYMPUS Master.
