3. Safety instructions
Depressurize the system before carrying out any work on the piping.
Installation and maintenance work may only be carried out when the device is not under
pressure.
Installation and maintenance work may only be carried out by trained and experienced
personnel.
Installation and maintenance work may only be carried out when electrical power supply is
disconnected.
Electrical work must always be carried out by qualified electrician.
Do not exceed maximal operating pressure or operating temperature range (see data label).
Do not use the device in hazardous areas with potentially explosive atmospheres.
Use original spare parts only.
Use the device for the appropriate purpose only.
3.1Hazardes classes
Important instructions regarding personal protection and safe operation are indicated in the manual
in distinct hazard classes. The hazard classes explain how states or individual steps of an operation
sequence are dangerous and can cause damage.
Hazard class

will result in death or serious injuries.

can result in death or serious injuries.

NOTICE
Indicate of a potentially dangerous situation. If the waning is not observed, this can
result in material damage.
3.2Structure of the warning
The warnings describe the type and source of danger, the consequences of not heeding these
warnings, and measures to be taken to avert danger. A warning is always structured according to the
following pattern:
Type and source of danger.
Consequences of not heeding the warning.
Measures for averting the danger.

4. Appropriate use
TD420M series condensate drain is intended exclusively for the following purpose:
Draining condensate from compressed air system (air compressors, air receivers/pressure
vessels, air dryers and air filters).
Any other form of use or one going beyond this shall be considered as inappropriate. We shall have
no liability whatsoever for any damage incurred as a result.
5. Installation
Warning due to a sudden release of pressure!
High pressure could be dangerous and hazardous to the operator.
Before installing the device, check that the system is not under
pressure. Wear necessary personal protective equipment and keep
follow the safety rules when working with pressure equipment.
Condensate drainer can be assembled in many
ways. However, you must follow the arrows on
valves from inlet pointing to the outlet. You have
to screw the parts together. The bottle in the
picture left indicates where you have to use the
seal, such as Loctite 542. On other joints you can
also use a seal, although friction sealing will be
enough (well tighten the joints).

Connecting several condensate collecting points to one condensate drain device causes operating
problems (1). Make sure that each condensate collecting point has its own condensate drain (2).
After installation or maintenance, the test button should be pressed to empty condensate that has
been collected while the ball valve has been closed.
5.1Installation instructions
When you install device follow this instructions.
1. First step is to connect a nipple (1) and high-pressure valve (2). For sealing you can use a
seal, such as Loctite 542. You must follow the arrows on valves from inlet pointing to the
outlet.
2. Next step is to connect high pressure valve (2) with elbow (3). See picture on page 7. There
can also use a seal. You must follow the arrows on valves from inlet pointing to the outlet.
3. Then is needed to connect a second nipple (1) with elbow (3). There is not need a seal,
because sealing is guaranteed with coned 60°. An assembly is made with fittings and
pressure valve.
4. We need to connect this assembly with electromagnetic valve (4). There you can also use a
seal, such as Loctite 542. You must follow the arrows on electromagnetic valves from inlet
pointing to the outlet.
5. Next step is to use a connector gasket (5) and put this on the electromagnetic valve (4). And
then we can put timer (6) on the connectors of electromagnetic valve (4).
6. The end step is to connect an electric cable with timer. See instructions in chapter electrical
installation.

Be careful not to pinch wires by cover! Be careful to clamp all strains of wires into respective terminal
blocks (use ferrules)!
Electrical connection should be made as shown above. It depends on orientation of the cover.
6. Storage information
The following storage must be considered for proper operation:
Store the components and elements indoors in a dry place.
Store them in original packing until they are used.

7. Operation
For operation with TD420m follow next steps.
1. Connect condensate drain device with the filter housing. You must follow the arrows on
pressure valves and electromagnetic valves from inlet pointing to the outlet.
2. Connect outlet of the condensate drain to outflow.
3. Full open a high-pressure valve. High pressure valve must be open full all time, if we want
that device operate correct. For more, see chapter Inlet valve.
4. Connect a condensate drain device to the electric network.
5. Set time Ton and Tof. Instruction for this you can find below and in chapter Approximate
calculation of discharge capacity
6. Make a test by pressing a test button.

Condensate drain consists of two timers, Ton and Toff. The Ton timer regulates the time duration of
discharging. The Toff timer regulates period between two discharges. At the moment, when the
device is connected to mains power supply, it activates the discharging process, which is noticed by
the sound of valve being open. Condensed water flows through inlet connection 1 and is discharged
through valve and outlet connection 2. After the set time Ton passes, the valve closes and green LED
light is turned on until the time Toff passes, when new cycle begins. Cycles repeats continuously.
The time between discharges Toff can be set from 1/2 to 45 minutes.
The time of discharge Ton can be set from 1/2 to 10 seconds.
For right settings refer to chapter Approximate calculation of discharge capacity
