TheiConverter 4Tx10/100EthernetSwitchmoduleisamember
ofthe managed iConverter productfamily. The4Tx provides a
compact 4-Port 10/100 Ethernet switch that is expandable
across the iConverter 19-Module, 5-Module and 2-Module
chassis backplanes, as well as being supported as a
standalone switch with the iConverter 1-Module Chassis.
The iConverter 4Tx UTP ports feature 10/100Mbps, Half or
Full-Duplex and auto-negotiation with both hardware and
software controls. Hardware control is available for two ports
whileallfour portsare undersoftware controlfor thesefeatures.
RJ-45crossover support eliminatesneed for acrossover cable
and facilitates connectivity to different types of network
equipment. The 4Tx crossover switch is supported on Port 1.
Ports 2, 3 and 4 support an automatic crossover detection
mode. The 4Tx also features two Ethernet backplane ports to
provideconnectivityto adjacentmodules fornetwork expansion
and for in-band connectivity to an iConverter Network
ManagementModule.
4Tx enhanced features include Port VLAN which allows
complete control of traffic flow between a module’s ports, and
PortAccess Control which incorporates remote enabling and
disablingof each individual port.The4Tx supports reporting of
MIBstatisticsthatareavailablefor32variablesperport,reporting
a wide range of real-time packet statistics to provide
performanceand operationalmonitoring.
iConverter 4Txmodulesarehot-swappableandcanbemounted
ina19-Module (2Uhigh) or5-Module (1Uhigh) rack-mountable
chassis(19-inch or23-inch)with anycombinationof redundant
AC,24VDCor48VDCpowersupplies.Theycanalsobemounted
in a 2-Module AC or 18 to 60VDC powered chassis, or in a
1-ModuleAC/DCpowered chassis.
The iConverter 4TxManaged Ethernet Switch supports
10BASE-Tor 100BASE-TX on fourUTP ports
Enhanced features include Port VLAN, Port Access
Control and MIB Statistics
Multiple 4Tx modules can be installed to expand the
port concentration in a single chassis
SupportsHalf or Full-Duplex andauto-negotiation
RJ-45crossover support eliminates needfor
differentcables in connecting to various devices
Ethernet backplane ports for connectivity to adjacent
modules
Management is available with the addition of a
management module to the chassis

Managementisaccomplished byusing aNetworkManagement
Module (NMM) or a media converter with integrated management
(such as an iConverter 10/100M2) that provides monitoring,
remote configuration and trap notification. The management
modulecan beaccessed via SNMP,Telnetandviaa serialport.
TheSNMP-basedmanagement isaccomplishedvia Omnitron’s
intuitive,graphic-oriented NetOutlook management software or
third party SNMP management software, while the Telnet and
theserialinterfaceshave aneasy-to-use,menu-driveninterface.
Some of the real-time 4Tx parameters that can be monitored
include link and data receive status. Other parameters include
moduletypeand model,hardware andsoftwarerevisions, serial
numbersandauser-defined identifier.
Theusercan overridethe 4Txmodule’s physicalswitch settings
byusingSNMPorTelnet toremotelyconfigure switch-selectable
parameters such as auto-negotiation, Half or Full-Duplex and
BackplaneSelection.
InadditiontoallstandardiConverter SNMPtrapssuchasmodule
insertion and removal, the 4Tx modules can generate traps on
port state changes including link-up and link-down. Trap
monitoring of specific events can be selectively enabled or
disabledby the network administrator.
