INTRODUCTION
The BioShift®Pass-Through UV-C Chamber is an easy-to-use bio-security tool made to
be used alongside germicidal disinfecting sprays/fogs, chemical cleaners, unsecured
access panels and other already in place bio-security practices. It is designed to x key
vulnerabilities within agriculture facilities, while enhancing protocols by killing viruses
and other pathogens in a recommended time of 5 minutes, before they can enter your
bio-secure farm facility.
The chamber has been veried to inactivate common pathogens by a nationally -
recognized testing laboratory specializing in antimicrobial, biocidal and virucidal
eectiveness.
Note: UV-C radiation is only eective on hard surface objects. It does not penetrate through
materials and is unable to kill bacteria, viruses and pathogens on shrouded objects, interior
cavities of objects and areas of objects that are not exposed to the proper intensity and
duration of UV-C radiation. Thus, the BioShift®Pass-Through UV-C Chamber should be used
in addition and as a complement to sterilization products and procedures and NOT as a
replacement.
Features
• Uses Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation, the process of killing viruses through light
• Easy-to-use, one button operation
• Pass-through chamber deactivates the DNA
• Heavy-duty and durable stainless steel chamber
• Improves eectiveness of the Danish Entry or Shower in/Shower out bio-security
protocols

SAFETY
Definition of Symbols
Warning
• It is possible that emissions from this product may interfere with some sensitive
appliances when placed nearby or in the same circuit as those appliances. The
user should be aware of this potential and take appropriate measures to avoid
interference.
• Not all materials are UV-C safe. UV-C rays can cause physical damage to products.
If products are excessively warm when they are removed after cleaning, they may
have been damaged by the UV-C.
• Do not put humans or live animals in the chamber.
• Do not allow children in or near the chamber.
• Do not place ammable liquid(s) in chamber.
Lamps
The lamps inside emit short wave UV-C radiation. Overexposure to direct or reected
UV-C light can cause severe damage to the eyes and skin. Never look into an illuminated
UV-C lamp without proper eye protection. The chamber windows provide a safe way to
view inside chamber without the risk of UV-C expsosure.
Ozone may be formed near UV-C lamps. Excessive ozone exposure can cause eye
irritation and discomfort in the respiratory tract. Operate the BioShift®Pass-Through
UV-C Chamber in an adequately ventilated area.
Use caution handling and changing lamps. They are glass and are subject to fracturing.
They contain a small amount of mercury, a chemical known to the state of California
to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. The mercury is contained inside the
lamp and will not be released unless the bulb is damaged. Use appropriate PPE when
handling.
The bulbs are sensitive to the oils in human skin, always handle by the plastic ends or
with gloves.
Lamp Disposal
Dispose in accordance with state and local laws.

PROGRAMMING
Cycle Time
The standard and recommended default disinfection cycle is 5 minutes. However, the
cycle time can be customized to better meet facility protocols. Note: The amount of
killing or inactivation UV-C radiation does is proportional to the amount of exposure time.
TO SET CYCLE TIME:
• From the Home screen, choose the Settings button (see Settings Screen
Components).
• Choose the Set Cycle button. Note: The time is set by arrowing up or down. The format
is automatically programmed in MM:SS.
• Once desired lamp life cycle has been chosen, select the check mark to set.
PROGRAMMING ITEMS TO NOTE:
• Controller cannot be programmed if EMERGENCY STOP buttons are pressed in. Pressing
EMERGENCY STOP button(s) disconnects all power, even to the controller.
• If disconnected from power, the BioShift®chamber does not have to be reprogrammed.
Sleep Timer
In order to assure the longest life, the BioShift®chamber will automatically enter sleep
mode after 30 minutes of inactivity. This setting can be changed by following this path:
• From the Home screen, choose the Settings button (see Settings Screen
Components).
• Choose the Sleep Time option and set to desired time.
• Select the check mark to set.
10

MAINTENANCE
Alert Notifications / Errors
An alert symbol will appear in the upper left corner of Maintenance button when the
following occurs:
• UV-C lamps have reached maximum cycle / hours.
• Replacement bulbs have been installed and Lamp Life needs
to be reset
Simply follow the red exclamation point to the source of the issue.
11

MAINTENANCE
Check Lamp Life
If your lamp life is expired or you are ready to install a new set of lamps, it is important
to track and reset the lamp life. Even though the lamps have a long default life, they
will lose their power over the course of time and need to be changed. The remaining
lamp life is always prominently displayed at the top of the Maintenance menu (see
Maintenance Screen Components).
Order Replacement Lamps and Ballasts
The information required for ordering new lamps include the lamp part number and
ONCE®contact information. This information can be found from the Maintenance screen
under Lamp Replacement Info.
20W UV-C Replacement Lamps SKU 26-0053
110-240V Replacement Ballast SKU 26-0052
Changing Lamps and Ballasts
To replace lamps, simply twist the lamp and pull out from its housing. Slide the new
lamp in and twist to lock it in place. It is recommended that all lamps are replaced
on 1000 cycle or 3000 hour intervals, whichever comes rst. After lamps have been
replaced, press the“Reset Lamp”button in the Maintenance menu to reset the lamp life
counter. De-energize chamber before changing lamps.
Replace ballasts if replacement lamps fail to provide proper intensity, or if lamps fail to
ignite. Ballasts must be installed according to country, state, and local NEC to the same
standard as shipped from the manufacturer. Ballasts are accessed via the removeable
side panel located inside the unit and must be securely xed to the bottom of the unit.
De-energize chamber before changing ballasts.
12

MAINTENANCE
Reset Lamp Life
• From the Home screen, choose the Maintenance button (see Maintenance Screen
Components).
• Choose the RESET LAMP button.
• Lamp Life will be reset to default, unless custom values have been entered in the
Lamp Life Settings menu.
Cleaning
• Do not use industrial degreasers or strong solvents such as brake cleaners.
• Do not override safety features during maintenance / cleaning.
• When cleaning the reective tray liner, do not use abrasives, they will reduce the
reectivity. For dicult to clean areas, soak the entire liner in a mild detergent.
• Outside: BioShift®unit can be cleaned with a damp towel. Strong solvents or
detergents are not recommended. A typical household cleaning solvent is
recommended.
• Inside: Clean inside chamber walls with ethanol (reagent grade) and a soft towel.
Be careful not to spray or apply chemicals directly on the UV-C lamps. This may
result in total lamp destruction.
UVC Dose Verification
It is imporatant to regularly verify the UVC dose output of the BioShift unit to ensure
proper disinfection. Every 50 cycles or once per month, whichever comes rst, the
operater shall verify that the UVC dose exceeds a minimum of 100 mJ/cm2in a short
programmed test cycle. With an empty chamber, place a card (below) at the center of
the shelf face-up. On the touchscreen display, select the“100 mJ/cm2 Dose Test” button
to start a test cycle. Upon completion of the test cycle, the operator will evaluate the
color development of the center circle. If the center color matches or exceeds the 100
mJ/cm2 region, the unit has passed the test. If the color doesn’t match or exceed 100 mJ/
cm2, all the lamps in the unit must be replaced. 100 mJ/cm2 test cards are available from
Once. Note: Do not use dose verication as a disinfection cycle.
