INTRODUCTION
ThankyouforselectingtheOregonScientic™ TP668 as your product of
choice. This product is a portable, easy�to�use, 409MHz License Free in
Hong Kong two�way radio transceiver that you can use to contact your family
and friends at shopping malls, amusement parks, sports events, beaches,
forests and so on. Additionally, it also can be used as a baby monitor system
to monitor in real time the baby cries. The transceiver has 20 channels and
38 CTCSS (Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System) codes. If someone
else is using the same channel as you, you can select another channel or
use the CTCSS feature. Talk with another person if you are both tuned to
the same channel and/or CTCSS code. Please note that the use of this item
is subject to applicable regulations of the country where used.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Please read the User Manual thoroughly for the correct methods of usage
and special notice of the safety section before you start. This manual should
bekeptonhandforeasyreferenceonsafeandefcientoperationofthe

General Instructions:
1. Keep the antenna at least 2.5cm away from your head and body.
2. Do not attempt to modify the radio. The radio is designed to comply
with Hong Kong OFTA HKTA 1044 standard.
3. Use the provided adaptor only. Do not use adaptor and/or batteries
divergedfromthatspeciedonusermanual.
4. Clean by using a cloth slightly dampened. Do not use alcohol,
solvents or abrasives etc.
5. The LCD display is made of glass and maybe damaged if dropped
or impacted.
6. The socket�outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be
easily accessible.
Environmental conditions:
1. Avoid placing this pair of unit for prolonged periods of time in direct
sunlight or temperatures below �20°C or above 60°C.
2. Turn off the radio wherever posted notices restrict the use of radios or
cellular telephones.
3.Donotoperatetheradioinhazardousenvironments,explosionorre
may result.
4. Do not operate the radio in high humidity, dusty or explosive environment.
Battery:
1. This radio is designed to use 3.7V Li�lon rechargeable battery. The
battery included with the radio has a protection circuit to protect the
battery from internal short circuit and over charge.
2. Avoid any contact with conductive materials such as jewelry, keys
or beaded chains and the exposed terminals of the battery. Contact

BATTERY INSTALLATION / REPLACE BATTERY
1. Slide to open the battery compartment cover.
2. Install the battery, matching the polarity +/-.
3.Alignthecoveratagainstthebatterycompartment,andthenslideit
upwards until it clicks into place.
WARNING
1. Reversing the polarities of battery could damage the unit and the battery.
2. If you’re not going to use the unit for a long period of time, e.g.
several weeks, please remove the battery.
3. Please dispose of old and defective batteries in a safe & environmentally

Recharging Battery
The battery icon on the LCD indicates the battery level. If the battery
is low, displays. You must charge the battery with the supplied
power adaptor. The battery has a built�in charging current limit circuit,
when the battery is fully charged, the circuit will cut the charge current
automatically to protect the battery.
Charging by power adaptor
1. Plug the small end of the power adaptor into the earphone jack.

SETTINGS
Using Radio to Make Communications
The unit has 20 main channels (large numbers on the LCD display) & 38
CTCSS code (small numbers) effectively giving you 760 channels. You
can communicate with any other 409MHz radio that is using the same
main channel & CTCSS code.
Adjusting Speaker Volume (8 Levels)
• Press (the UP key) to increase the volume.
• Press (the DOWN key) to decrease the volume.
Menu Flow Chart
Press the menu key to enter main channel selection. Toggle to
enter your desired function. The menu includes the functions in order as
controlled by a wall switch.

charged, the LCD backlight turns from red to green.
5. Unplug the adaptor from the socket and the radio will automatically
turn on.

Selecting Channel
To select the main channel:
1. Press the menu key once, the channel number displays
andashes.
2. Press / key to select your desired main channel.
3. Press the PTTkeytoconrmthenquitthecurrentdisplay.
CTCSS Code Function
This function can help you select your group (38 CTCSS codes) of users
on the same channel. Only the users with the same CTCSS code can
listen and talk to each other. Please note that selecting a CTCSS code
does not assure total privacy. In radio communication, any 409MHz radio
can listen to all communications on the same channel when using the
default standard setting with CTCSS = 0 (off).
1. Press the menu key twice,CTCSScodedisplaysandashes.
2. Press / key to select your desired CTCSS code from 1to 38,
0is off.
3. Press the PTTkeytoconrmthenquitthecurrentdisplay.
Selecting Call Tone
1. Toggle the menu key untilyouseeashingcalltoneicon on
the LCD.

Switching On/Off the Power
1. To switch on, press and hold with a beep tone and the LCD
displays the channel number and battery icon .
2. To switch off, press and hold until the LCD turns off.
Speaking to Other Radios
1. Press and hold the PTT key, displays on the LCD.
2. Hold the unit in a vertical position with the microphone 5 ~ 8 cm from
the mouth and then speak with normal voice volume.
3.Whenyouhavenishedspeaking,releasethePTT key and a beep
tone can be heard.
OPERATION
Roger Beep
The roger beep function enables a short tone signal which is transmitted
after releasing the PTT key.
1. Toggle the menu key until the LCD displays RGR icon.
2. Press / key to select ON (on) or OF (off).
3. Press the PTTkeytoconrmthenquitthecurrentdisplay.
Auto Power Off (APO)
The function may help save battery energy in case that you forget to
switch off a radio after use.
1. Toggle the menu key until the LCD displays .
2. Press / key to select APO time options from 0to 12hr (hours).
3. Press the PTTkeytoconrmthenquitthecurrentdisplay.
NOTE
Whenever there is any signal received, the timer will re�start
counting from the beginning.

Listening to Other Radios
1. The radio will automatically play received transmissions.
2. While you press the PTT key, you cannot listen to other radios.
3. Adjust volume control if necessary.
Talk Time-Out Function (Factory Default Setting)
• Time�out function can avoid transmitting by chance and prolong the
battery life.
• The radio will stop transmitting and sound a warning tone when the
PTT key is held over 60 seconds. You then need to release the PTT
key and press it again for further transmission.
• In VOX mode, the unit stops transmitting and sound a warning tone
after continuous talk for 60 seconds. You can re�activate VOX after
the time�out. (Please refer to VOX function for details)
Sending Call Tone
You can use different call tone(s) (10 types) to get attention of the other
user on the same channel.
• Press the call tone key , and the tone plays. The LCD displays
and . Your call tone is sent.
VOX (Hands-Free Function)
The unit has a built�in Voice Activated Circuit (VOX) function. You can
enjoy talking and listening without pressing the PTT key. To have better
performance, you can use this function with the external earphone
(optional accessories).
1. Toggle the menu key until the LCD displays andashingVOX
sensitivity digits.
2. Press / key to select sensitivity level from OF (off), 1(low),
2(medium), 3(high).

You can still transmit and receive the radio signal during
stopwatch mode.
LAP Time
In stopwatch mode, you can get a lap time by below steps:
1. Press / key to start.
2. Press the scan key to stop and the LCD shows the lap time while
the stopwatch is still running.
3. Press again to resume the stopwatch and the time counting
continues.
4. Repeat the above steps to count the laps.
5. Press the power key to reset (00:00).
3. Once the VOX function is turned on, is on the LCD.

You can plug in the earphone for hands�free talking and
listening. Please speak close to the microphone in order to
activate VOX function. Make sure that the earphone is set to
VOX mode (if equipped with a switch) before it is plugged in.
Stopwatch
1. Toggle the menu key until the LCD displays .
2. Press / key to start, or press / key again to stop.
3. Press the power key to reset (00:00).

Baby Monitor
Set the unit to baby monitor mode as follows and place next to the baby.
The radio will not receive any signal but only transmit so that it will not
disturb the baby.
1. Toggle the menu key until the LCD displays

2. Press / key to select sensitivity level from OF (off), 1(low),
2(medium), 3(high).
3. Place the radio with microphone facing upwards within 1 meter from
the baby.
4. Press the PTTkeytoconrmthenquitthecurrentdisplay.
Please turn off the baby monitor function if you want to resume
the reception function.
Scanning Channels
1. Press the scan key and the LCD displays . The radio
automatically starts scanning channels.
2. The radio scans all frequencies one by one and will stay on the
occupied channel around 8 seconds and it will continue scanning (, or
you can press / key to manually continue scanning).
3. After scanning the occupied channel, you can press the PTT key to
talk and the radio will stay on this channel.
4. If there is no signal, it will continue scanning. Press the PTT key,
and it stays on the current selected channel and quits the scanning
function.
Press and hold the scan key for more than 2 seconds; it
enters into monitor function and receives the squelch noise and
open (un�squelch) the frequency. Release the key to end the
monitor function.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Key Lock
1. Press and hold the lock key for 3 seconds until the LCD
displays .
2. All keys are locked except the PTT and keys.
3. To unlock, press and hold the lock key again.
Using a PTT/VOX Earphone
A single earphone can be used with both PTT and VOX capabilities.
1. Plug the PTT/VOX earphone into the earphone jack.
2. Press and hold the PTT key on the in�line microphone to speak.
3. Release the PTT key to listen.
4. Adjust volume if necessary.
5. Set up VOX on the radio using the menu key (see above section).
6. Speak into the in�line microphone to activate the transmitter and
listen through the earpieces.
