“Ortop AFO” is a newly developed AFO with concepts “smaller”
and “lighter” than conventional AFO. “Ortop AFO” is also suitable
for Japanese lifestyle. Since this AFO is smaller and thinner than
conventional AFO, this is not so conspicuous and has good feeling
of touch from dorsal and planter flexibility.

“Ortop AFO LH” is an AFO that succeed to concepts of
“Ortop AFO” and improve redressing force by extending lower
limb height and foot length.

Important information about a possible dangerous situation which, if not avoided, leads
to serious injuries.
● Only a medical doctor can prescribe an AFO.
● Rehabilitation with this product should be done by a
medical doctor or a physical therapist.
● This product is designed as an ankle foot orthosis to
improve a user’s gait. Do not use this product for the other
purposes.
● Do not apply any other force like squashing, pulling or
detaching except the force that is applied in actual use. It
may cause destruction.
● Stop using this product immediately and consult a doctor
if you had a skin flush, eruption or pain.
● Do not use this product unless a user of this orthosis or
helper can understand usage and safety precautions of this
product.
● Follow the safety precautions in this instruction manual.
● Do not walk on slippery floor with this product only. The
user may tumble down. Please use a pair of shoes to avoid
slipping when a user walk on slippery floor.
● Please take care on a step or a floor with slits. A belt or
orthosis itself may be caught and a user may tumble
down.
● Please contact a dealer when you notice anything wrong
with this product.

● Do not drop and avoid impact to the product. This may
cause destruction like crack.
● Do not keep this product in direct sunlight or in a car
under blazing sun. Please do not use this product near
heater (like stove). It may cause discoloration or deforma-
tion. Do not use discolored or deformed product.
● Do not wash a part except belts. (Please see “5. Daily
maintenance” when you want to wash belts)
● A user or a helper must inspect and maintain the product
once a day before the use. Also, do not use before inspec-
tion and maintenance.
● When you notice anything wrong in inspection and main-
tenance, stop using this product immediately and consult a
dealer.
● You cannot use this product in extreme change in tem-
perature. Please consult a dealer before you use it.
● Please take care not to tighten belts too strong.
● Do not step on the product. This may cause malfunction
with this product.
● You cannot use this product in a bathroom or where rain
can hit directory to the product.
● Some figures shown in this instruction manual may have
omitted or abstracted expression.
● The actual product owing to constant improvement may
differ from contents of this instruction manual in detail.

This product is constituted from these parts. Please confirm that you can find every part. Please see a sticker
on main body or a tag on ring strap and confirm Left / Right is correct.

Inspect and maintain this product by following this list once a day before you don it.
● No unusual thing in belts.
● Ring strap direction is proper.
● No deformation or destruction in each part.
● No discoloration in each part.
● No peeling off between main body and glued hook-and-loop fastener.
● Fastening between hook and loop fastener is proper.
● No frayed spot on sewn part.
Inspect and maintain this product before you don it to notice if it has something unusual
or not. In the unlikely event of failure, do not use it and consult a dealer to repair or
replace it. Also, do not use this product if it has something wrong.
Caution!

4. How to don Ortop AFO
Please push belts firmly when you fasten hook and loop
fastener. There is possibility of peeling off in case of insuffi-
cient fastening. Confirm that the orthosis is donned properly.

* Do not don this product like the diagrams above.
Do not pull on the tip of
belts when you fasten belts.
This may cause destruction.
Do not cut ring strap belt.
The coming out prevention is
lost and the belt may come
out.
Put hook and
loop side together
Attach slacked ring strap on
main body and fix the ring
strap by putting hook and
loop side together.
Put your foot through ring
strap belt on main body.
Fasten ring strap belt to fix
your foot on main body.
Fasten lower limb belt and
instep belt to fix your foot
firmly on main body. (Please
cut out lower limb belt or instep
belt when the belt is too long.)
Confirm that the tightness
of each belt is proper.
● Keep out of moisture or direct sunlight and store in the shade

● Follow local ordinances or regulations for proper disposal of each part.
・Main body…Polypropylene (PP)
・Ring strap…Polyurethane (PU) / Nylon (PA)
・Lower limb belt・instep belt… Polyurethane (PU) / Nylon (PA)
● This product is not waterproof. Wipe water drop immediately with dry towel when water drops on.
● Remove fibers on hook and loop fastener as required.
(Fibers on hook and loop fastener may weaken fastening and cause coming off)
● Wipe with dry towel when you find any dirt on main body.
● Wash belts with lukewarm water (below 40℃) when each belt gets dirty.
* When you use hot water over 40℃, the hook on a fastener may deform and may weaken fastening.
* After you wash belts, dehydrate the belts with dry towel and dry them in the shade.
To use this product for a long term, please maintain this product daily on the list below.
