Laser
CAUTION: Use of controls adjustments or performance of procedures other than
those specified herein may result in hazardous laser light exposure.
Class 2 Laser scanners use a low power, visible light diode. As with any very bright light
source, such as the sun, the user should avoid staring into the beam directly. Momentary
exposure to a Class 2 laser is not known to be harmful.

WARNING
This battery pack is designed for the specified handheld computers. Do not use the battery
pack with any other device. Use the specified device to charge the battery pack.
There is the risk of heat generation, fire, or explosion.
Do not throw the battery pack into fire or heat the battery pack. The same applies to the used
battery pack.
There is the risk of heat generation, fire, or explosion.
Do not insert sharp objects into the battery pack, apply impact on the battery pack, or
disassemble/modify the battery pack. The same applies to the used battery pack.

Do not short positive (+) and negative (–) contact.
Dispose of the used battery pack after insulating positive (+) and negative (–) contacts by
friction tape.

Precautions for Use
Observe the following to use this product correctly.
Handheld computer
 Do not open or modify the main unit case.
Battery pack
 The battery pack is a consumable. The battery life, which varies with using conditions,
is approximately a year as a guideline, and after a year or approximately over 300 times
of recharging, the recharging capability becomes weak. If the battery is exhausted in a
short time after full recharging, replace the battery pack with new one.
 Be sure to use the specified battery pack.
 Do not touch the contact portions of the battery pack. Failure to observe this may cause
poor contact.
 Leaving this product for a long time after recharging reduces the battery capacity even if
the power is turned off.
 Recharge the battery pack at ambient temperatures from 5 °C to 35 °C. When the
temperature exceeds the ambient charging temperature, charging stops and the
indicator goes out.
 Store the battery pack at ambient temperatures from -20 °C to 35 °C. Recharging or
storing the battery pack outside of the specified temperatures reduces the performance
and life of the battery pack.
 Charge the battery pack before use.
 When the terminal of the battery pack becomes dirty, use a dry soft cloth to clean the
terminal. Failure to observe this may cause poor contact with the device and cut power
supply.
 Once the terminal of the battery pack is clogged with foreign matter, the matter is hard
to be removed, resulting in damage to the device.
 If an anomaly such as heat generation, deformation, and abnormal odor is detected with
respect to the battery pack, do not use the battery pack.
 If recharging is not completed after the specified recharging time has passed, remove
the battery pack from the device. The battery pack protection device may be damaged.
 The rechargeable battery to be used to operate this product is a lithium-ion battery.
 Do not dispose of but recycle no longer needed batteries to protect precious resources.
Operating environment and service place
 Do not leave this product in a place exposed to high temperature or excessive dust.
 Condensation may occur when this product is moved from a cold place to a warm place.
In case of condensation, do not use this product until water droplets disappear.
 Do not put this product where static is likely to be generated (such as a carpeted place)
or where magnetism generating devices such as a TV set and a radio are nearby.
 Do not leave this product under direct sunshine or at excessive high or low
temperatures for a long time.
 Protect this product from rain or water.

Drop impact/damage
 Handle this product with care because this product is precision equipment. Do not apply
impact on this product, drop this product, or put a heavy object on this product.
 Do not damage the scanner reading portion.
System operation
 Be sure to turn off the power before battery pack replacement.
How to care
 Be sure to turn off the power before taking care of this product.
 Use a dry soft cloth to remove dirt from this product. When stubborn stains are
observed, use a tightly twisted water soaked cloth to wipe the point softly and use dry
another cloth to wipe the point again.
 Do not use thinner, benzene, wax, kerosene, soap, polish, hot water, chemical cloth,
and the like.
 Use a dry soft cloth to clean the scanner reading portion depending on the level of dirt.
 The dirty reading portion may cause barcode reading failure.
 When the scanner is cleaned, the wiping direction shall be vertical to the scanner
reading portion.
 The dirty connector may cause communication failure.
 Use a dry soft cloth to clean the power feeding terminal depending on the level of dirt.
 The dirty terminal may cause failure in charging the mobile terminal.
Touch panel
 Use a finger or the supplied touch pen to enter data on the touch panel. Do not apply
excessive load to the touch panel. Do not use a sharp-pointed hard object (ex. ballpoint
pen and mechanical pencil) to operate the touch panel.






1LCD (Touch panel)
Used for displaying information such as operation methods.
 The information to be displayed can be set using
application software.
This LCD can be used also as a touch panel for input
operation.
2Indicator
During operation
Lights red or green: Scan succeeded.
 The color depends on applications to be performed.
During charging
Lights green: Charging is complete.
Lights red: Charging is under way.
Flashes red: Charging error happened.
3Center Trigger
Use these triggers when scanning a barcode or 2D code.
4Side Trigger
 When charging is complete, the indicator that was lighting red goes out once, and then
lights green.
The indicator may not be lit when charging the fully charged battery at first. But it will be
changed to green later.

Note:
 Depending on applications to be performed, another key may be used to scan a code
instead of the trigger.

For details on how to use each key, refer to the operating instructions of application to be used.
■ About auto power-off
After this unit is left unoperated while the power is on, the power will be automatically turned off.
When the power key is pressed again, the unit will be powered on in the status before the power-off.
Note:
 It is possible to configure the duration to activate auto power-off using the application
related to the operation.

Replace a Battery Pack
■How to replace Battery Pack JT-H320BT-E1
Charge a new battery pack before use for the first time.
1 Finish the operation and power off the unit.
Data may be erased or troubles may happen when the battery pack is removed
while the power is on.
2 While pressing the dent part of the battery pack cover (1) located on the
back side of the handheld computer, pull the battery pack cover lock (2)
toward you to open the battery pack cover.
When the unit is wet with dripping or splashing, wipe it away with a dry soft cloth
before opening the battery pack cover.


3 Pull the ribbon to remove the battery pack.

4 Replace the battery pack with a new one.
When inserting the battery pack into the unit, make sure that the terminals are
correctly directed.
Wipe the dust or dripping away from the battery pack case.

5 Close the battery pack cover, and lock the cover surely.
Be sure to lock the battery pack cover to protect the battery pack case from dripping
or splashing.
Make sure that the ribbon is not caught under the battery pack.

Note:
 When 1 minute has passed after the battery pack is removed, data may be erased.
To prevent this, replace the battery with a new one immediately.
 Be sure to power off the unit before battery pack replacement.
 Do not mistake the direction of battery pack.
 When a message appears to show that the battery pack is running low, replace the
battery pack.
 Do not pinch your fingers when closing the battery pack cover.
 Remove the battery pack if this unit is not used for a long time.
 Use only Battery Pack JT-H320BT-E1.

Charge the Unit
Insert the unit into the Cradle.
 The figure below is an example of a USB Cradle (JT-H320CU-E1).
The handheld computer can be placed on the Cradle (JT-H320CG-E1) and charged with
the Cradle in a similar way.
The USB Cradle and Cradle must be purchased separately.

■ How to use the laser scanner
(Applicable model: JT-H320HT-E1)
1 Press the side or center trigger. A laser
will be radiated.
Depending on operations to be performed,
another key may be used to scan a code
instead of the trigger.

located on the center of scan area.
Locate the unit so that the Laser goes
across the barcode.
3 After scan, the buzzer beeps and the
indicator lights red or green.
The sound of the buzzer and colors of the
indicator depend on applications to be
performed.

 When the barcode scanner is located horizontally to the barcode, scan may not be
performed properly because of reflection. In this case, tilt the unit slightly.

Scan a 2D code
■ How to use the 2D scanner
(Applicable model: JT-H320HT-E2)
1 Press the side or center trigger. A laser

About Connection with Another Device
When you are not certain how to establish communication with another device, please
contact your place of purchase of this device.
■Notes on radio communication (Bluetooth®, wireless LAN)
 Communication may not be established around other wireless machines, business
machines, or power lines because their radio frequencies may cause interferences.
Do not place this unit on a vehicle or metallic desk. Otherwise, that may cause harmful
interferences to radio communication.
 When radio communication is not properly established, move the unit and the other
device closer each other, and try the communication again.
■Notes on use with USB Cradle “JT-H320CU-E1”
 Do not set this unit on the USB Cradle when dripping or splashing is staying on the unit.
Before setting the unit on the cradle, wipe dripping or splashing away from the unit.
 Do not remove the unit from the USB Cradle during the communications.
 When removing the unit from the USB Cradle, make sure the indicator of this unit is off
and no error happens.
 Do not pinch the strap between the unit and USB Cradle. Otherwise, communication or
charging may be impossible.
 Charge this unit at ambient temperatures from 5 °C to 35 °C. When the temperature
exceeds the ambient charging temperature, charging stops and the indicator goes out.
■Notes on charging with Cradle “JT-H320CG-E1”
 Do not set this unit on the Cradle when dripping or splashing is staying on the unit.
Before setting the unit on the charger, wipe dripping or splashing away from the unit.
 Do not pinch the strap between the unit and Cradle. Otherwise, charging may be
impossible.
 Charge this unit at ambient temperatures from 5 °C to 35 °C. When the temperature

How to Care
Be sure to power off main unit before cleaning.
■Main unit (Excluding the charging terminal)
 When this product gets dirty, clean with a dry soft cloth.
 When the dirt is hard to remove, wipe the product gently with a twisted wet cloth, and
then with a dry soft cloth.
 Do not use materials such as thinner, benzene, wax, oil, soap foam, abrasive detergent,
hot water, and a chemical cloth.
■Scanner
 When a dust or sebum is staying on the surface of barcode scanner, scan is not
performed or scan height may be shorter.
When this product gets dirty, clean with a dry soft cloth.
When the dirt is hard to remove, wipe the product gently with twisted wet cloth, and then
with a dry soft cloth. (Approximately once a month is recommended.)
 Wipe the barcode scanner vertically as shown in the illustration.
■Charging terminal
 When a dust or sebum is staying on the terminal, charging may be impossible.
When it becomes dirty, clean it using a dry soft cloth according to the dirtiness.
(Recommended to clean once a month.)
Be also careful not to bend the terminal.

Troubleshooting

If a problem cannot be resolved even after checking and trying the solution given above, try the following:
 If an alternative unit is available, check the details of trouble using the unit.
 Contact service personnel.
