HD-SD Format Converter Printed Circuit Board AJ-UDC3700P
This PCB is installed in the digital video cassette recorder (AJ-HD3700 or AJ-HD3700H) where it
converts the tape pla back signals into the desired TV s stem signals and outputs serial digital sig-
nals and analog composite signals.
Once the PCB has been installed, the menu operations relating to the format converter are auto-
maticall added to the front panel of the AJ-HD3700 or AJ-HD3700H.
For details on the menu operations, refer to the applicable menu items in the Operating Instructions
of the VTR.
Installation This PCB consists of two boards. Follow the procedures below to install each of these boards.
V P83498 (UP DOWN PCB)
1Turn off the power of the main unit (AJ-HD3700 or AJ-HD3700H), then lift the front panel and
disengage the L PCB clamp.
2Take out the L2 PCB.
3Attach the UP DOWN PCB to the L2 PCB. At this stage, mate the P100 connector on the UP
DOWN PCB properl with the P4 connector on the L2 PCB. (Refer to Figs. 2 and 3.)
4Secure the UP DOWN PCB to the L2 PCB using the screws provided for this purpose.
5Return the L2 PCB, to which the UP DOWN PCB is now attached, to its original slot.
6Engage the L PCB clamp which was disengaged in step 1.

Installation V P83543 (420P SUB PCB)
1Turn off the power of the main unit (AJ-HD3700 or AJ-HD3700H), then remove the top panel
and disengage the S PCB clamp.
2Take out the S4 PCB.
3Attach the 420P SUB PCB to the S4 PCB. At this stage, mate the P100 connector on the 420P
SUB PCB properl with the P7 connector on the S4 PCB. (Refer to Figs. 5 and 6.)
4Secure the 420P SUB PCB to the S4 PCB using the screws provided for this purpose.
5Return the S4 PCB, to which the 420P SUB PCB is now attached, to its original slot.
6Engage the S PCB clamp which was disengaged in step 1.
7Attach the top panel which was removed in step 1.

<Note>
The clamp which is
mounted on the inside
of the unit’s front panel
and the clamp which is
mounted on the top
panel are designed to
prevent the circuit
boards from popping
out of position. Bear in
mind that the screws
must be used in all the
locations on the clamps
to keep the circuit
boards in place.

Note concerning the use of spacers
On some S4 printed circuit boards the P7 connector is 7 mm high. If this is the case, a sticker indi-
cating “7mm” is adhered to the S circuit board (as shown in Fig. 7). If the P7 connector on the S4
printed circuit board side is 7 mm high, use the 7 mm spacers
which are packed together with the converter board to replace the four existing board spacers.
