1.3 Available tools
The following three tools are available to support efficient work during new installation, maintenance,
and operation monitoring of the PLC adaptor.

1.4 Names and Functions of Parts

①MASTER indicator: Indicates whether the product is a MASTER or TERMINAL.
②LAN indicator: Indicates the status of the LAN connection.

The state of each indicator
MASTER indicator
On (green) *1 Operating as PRIMARY MASTER.
On (orange) *1 Operating as SECONDARY MASTER.
Off Operating as TERMINAL.
LAN indicator
Blinking Connected to the LAN.
PLC indicator
On (green) *1 Connected to a PLC device.
On (orange) *1
Connected to power, but not connected to a
PLC device.
Off Power is not connected.
*1 After turning on the power, the LED lights steady for 8 hours, and then blinks after that. If you
press the SET UP button, the LED lights steady for 1 minute, and then blinks after that.

The LED indicator lights steady from blinking. It will blink for 1
minute.
Long press
(30 seconds or more)
When the stop action of this product becomes necessary, you
can forcibly set the communication stop status. When the
communication is stopped, the PLC indicator lights (red).
To restore, turn the power off after turning off the power supply
once, or press the RESET button for 1 second or more.
For stopping measures, we recommend a method of cutting
off the circuit breaker.

2.1 Installation and operation flow
2.2 Determine installation location and number of HD-PLC adaptors
Determine the installation location of the PLC adaptor from the wiring system diagram etc.
•Determine the location and the number of PLC adaptors to be installed.
•For the installation interval of the PLC adaptor, use the distance 200 m as a guide.
However, the communication distance varies depending on the power line to be used and
the wiring conditions.
2.3 Parameter setting
•Once you have decided the installation location and the number, set the parameters in
advance.
•Set the parameters using the Setting Tool.
•The parameters to be set are as follows.
Login ID / Password
Device name
Mode (Master/Terminal)
Shared key for authentication,
IP address, subnet mask, default gateway
•The device name is required to identify the PLC adaptor on various tools.
When the PLC adaptor connection status is displayed on the tool, which place is installed
in order to identify, we recommend setting a name that makes it easy to infer the installation
location for the device name.
•The Setting Tool can read various parameters from the Excel sheet.
It is convenient to set up beforehand on the Excel sheet and then perform the setting work.
•When using this PLC adaptor, it is necessary to set the IP address in advance.
There are two kinds of setting methods as follows.
DHCP mode
Prepare the DHCP server and automatically assign the IP address.
The set IP address can be referenced from the Setting Tool
Auto IP mode
The Setting Tool will automatically assign the IP address. When using this function,
due to the processing time of the tool, you may wait for about 3 minutes.
The set IP address can be referenced from the Setting Tool.
•It is recommended that both DHCP mode and Auto IP mode are disabled after setting the IP
address. If you use either of them with valid settings, the IP address may change.

Connection environment during setting work
①Connect the PLC adaptor to the power supply.
(e.g. Every 8 to 10 units)
②Connect the LAN cable to the PLC adaptors
③On the setting tool PC, launch Setting Tool and read parameters.
④From the Setting Tool, set the parameters on the PLC adaptor.
⑤When selecting each PLC adaptor on the Setting Tool,
the corresponding PLC adaptor LED lights up.
⑥Put a label on the corresponding PLC adaptor.
*2. If there is no DHCP server, it can be set by Auto IP mode.

Examples of creating configuration parameters
Make the settings according to the network environment and security requirements by the following
procedure.
①Save CSV file
②Enter setting values in CSV file
③Enter Parameters with the Setting Tool
Save CSV file
Launch HD-PLC Setting Tool and display the following screen.
Select "Save" from the "File" menu in the upper left corner, and save the CSV
file in an arbitrary folder.
Enter setting

Open the saved CSV file.
Enter PLC Shared Key 1, PLC Shared Key 2, Web User Name, and Web
Password in the CSV file.
After input, it will not be displayed in the tool, so please be sure to keep a copy
of it.

2.3.1 Turn on the power
•The PLC indicator lights orange for 5 to 10 seconds after turning on the power.
After that, it glows green when linking with another PLC adaptor.
•When connected to a network device, the LAN indicator lights up or blinks.
•When the PLC adaptor is set to MASTER, the MASTER indicator will light up green or
orange.
•If no LED indicator lights up even after waiting for about 3 minutes, immediately turn off the
power and consult with your dealer.

2.3.2 RS-485 setting
RS-485 setting is done with the Setting Tool.
Please set the parameters of the PLC adaptor according to the RS - 485 equipment parameters.
The maximum number of units that can be connected is 31 units.
(1) Master / Slave switching
Please select Master and Slave.
(2) Communication speed
Please set the communication speed.

* When the communication speed is 38400 bps or more, a wiring length of 1200 m is not
supported. Please check in the actual environment.
(3) Data bit
Please set the data bit size.

(5) Stop bit
Set the stop bit length.
(6) Data format
Set the data format as binary code or ASCII code.
(7) RS-485 route setting
Set the IP address of the terminal to be used as RS - 485 for the master.

2.3.3 USB setting
PLC Adapor setting
•For the PLC adaptor using USB, please enable the USB function with the Setup tool.
•Please connect the USB device and the PLC adaptor with a USB cable.
•The network of the PC controlling the USB device is connected to the Ethernet port of the
Master PLC adaptor. Maximum performance can be demonstrated by connecting.
•The number of devices that can be connected is up to 5 devices including one hub per
adaptor.
•The maximum number of connected devices that can be used with one PC is 64 devices.
•This product does not support high-speed data communication.
•You cannot use USB devices that use isochronous transfer that emphasizes real-time data
transmission, such as Web camera and USB speaker. Depending on the specifications of the
USB device device driver, it may not be available.

2.3.4About security
•In order to prevent invasion of third parties into the network, the security measures provided
by this product are as follows.
Only the terminal adaptors registered with the same shared key as the master adaptor
can connect to the network.
Data is protected by the AES 128-bit encryption method. However, it does not guarantee
security against interception by a third party.
•This product has no firewall function. Therefore, when connecting to the Internet and using it,
we recommend that you configure security settings for routers, PCs, and other devices.
•If you do not change the password of the product from the factory default value, unintended
configuration changes may be done by a third party.
Be sure to set the password before use.
Do not set a password that can be easily inferred.
Do not use the same password for other purposes.
Please make sure the password is not known to others.
Change the password periodically.

2.4Install and Wiring this product
2.4.1 Installation of PLC adaptor (implementation)
•Install individual PLC adaptors to the determined construction site.
•When installing to the place sequentially from the master, you can install it while confirming the
PLC link state.
Notice
•During installation work, do not allow foreign objects (wire scrap, concrete wall materials, etc.) to
get inside the equipment.
•One PLC adaptor must be set as the master adaptor and the other PLC adaptor must be
registered as a terminal adaptor in the master adaptor.
2.4.1.1 When fixing this product to the DIN rail
•Use the DIN rail lever (①) to secure it to the DIN rail (②).
•DIN rail lever: When pulling out from the DIN rail, pull it in the direction of the arrow.
2.4.1.2 When a fixing bracket is used
Notice
•The weight of this product is about 260 g. Please confirm in advance that there is sufficient
strength at the installation site.
•Check the strength of the installation site for long-term use.
•If the strength of the installation site is insufficient, install appropriate reinforcement material in the
installation location.
•For the outline of this product, refer to "Dimensions" (page 65).
1. Set the fixing brackets (①②③) to the main body with screws (rear side)
2. Remove the terminal cover
3. Use the screw holes (3 places) to fix this product to the installation location.

2.4.2 Connection of power supply
Follow this procedure to wire the product to the distribution box.
1. Remove the terminal cover.
•Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the terminal cover fixing screw.
2. Wire L phase of the power line to terminal L(①) and N phase to terminal N(②).
•Connect the L phase terminal (①) and N phase terminal (②) correctly.
•Applicable AWG value is 20 - 14. Use certified or equivalent wires for the electric wires of this
product.
Diameter (single wire): 0.813 mm to 1.628 mm
Cross section (stranded wire): 0.519 m² to 2.081 m²
•When using a single wire, please strip off 8 mm of the coating.
•When using stranded wire, use Y type crimp terminal with insulation tube (M4).
•The proper tightening torque is 1.6 N·m to 1.8 N·m. Please tighten the screw securely.
•Make sure there is no biting in the coating of the wire, such as a terminal washer.
•Connect the electrical wiring correctly according to the specifications of the distribution board.
