isstoredwithin.Itthereforeneedstobeopenedandclosedcarefullyincompliancewiththefollowing
steps:
‐ Activatetheparkingbrakebeforeopeningthebiglid.Ifthebikestartsmovingduringtheprocess
ofopeningthebiglidthismightleadtoanuncontrolledmovementwhichcanresultindamageor
injury.
‐ Ifthebiglidistooheavyforyouitmightbenecessarytogetassistancefromasecondpersonto
openandcloseit.Acontrolledmovementhastobeensuredinordertoavoiddamageand
injuries.

andstorage.Usethefollowingprocesstosecurelyfoldthepaul&ernstbikeframe:
1. Carefullyrotatetherearpartofthebikecounterclockwisetojustbeyondtherightpipeofthe
movablehandlebar.
2. Lowerthehandlebartothefloorsurfaceandfirmlytightenthescrewsinordertosecurethe
stabilityofthebike.
3. Makesurethatthereisnoheavyloadinthefrontstorageunit.Thiscouldleadtoinstabilityand
causethebiketotipoveroncetheframepipeisfolded.
4. Openthequickreleaseofhingeonthemainframepipe.

individualmaintenancerequirementswillbedeterminedbyeverythingfromyourridingstyletothe
climaticconditionsofwhereyouliveandride.

3.Asneeded:Ifyourpaul&ernstbikehasbeenexposedtowater,sand,salt,orgrit,oratleastevery100
miles:cleanyourpaul&ernstbikeandlightlylubricatethechain’srollerswithagoodqualitybicyclechain
lubricant.Wipeoffexcesslubricantwithalint‐freecloth.
4.Afterevery10to20hoursofriding:
•Squeezethefrontbrakesandrockthepaul&ernstbikeforwardsandbackwards.Ifyoufeelitclunkwith
eachmovement,yourbrakesmayneedtobeadjusted.Haveaprofessionalbikemechaniccheckit.
•Grabonepedalandrockittowardandawayfromthecenterlineoftheframe.Dothesamewiththe
otherpedal.Ifeitherfeelsloose,haveabicyclemechaniccheckthepedalsout.
•Checkthecontrolcablesandcablehousingscarefully.Ifyounoticeanyrust,kinks,fraying,orother
imperfections,haveabicyclemechanicreplacethem.
•Squeezeeachadjoiningpairofspokesoneithersideofeachwheelbetweenyourthumbandindex
finger.Ifanyfeelloose,haveyourbicyclemechaniccheckthewheelfortensionandtrueness.
•Checkthetiresforexcesswear,cuts,orbruises.
•Thefrontwheelscanbedetachedincasepartshavetobereplaced(tubes,tires,spokesandrims)orif
thefoliationofthebikehastobereplaced.Weadvisetohavethisrepair/maintenanceworkdonebya
professionalbikemechanic.
5. Beforedetachingthewheel,thebrakingdevicefromthediscbrakehastobedetached.The
brakingdevicehastobeunscrewedfromthebikeframe.Thescrews(2xinbus)arelocated
underneaththeexteriorsurfaceofthegastronomyunitpointingtowardsthecenteroftheframe.
6. Whenthebrakingdeviceisdetachedmakesurethatthebikeframeisstablysupportedsothat
thewheeliselevatedfromtheground.
7. Unmountthecenterscrewtodetachthewheelfromtheaxis.
8. WARNING:useproperforcetomountthescrewsofthebrakingdeviceandthecenterscrew.If
thesecomponentsweretoloosenupoffalloutduringarideitcouldcauseaseriousaccident.
Wethereforestronglyadvisetohavethisworkdonebyaprofessionalbikemechanic.
•Checktomakesurethatallpartsandaccessoriesarestillsecureandtightenanywhicharenot.
5.Every100hours:Takeyourpaul&ernstbiketoabicyclerepairworkshopforacompletecheckup.
WARNING:likeanymechanicaldevice,yourpaul&ernstbikeanditscomponentsaresubjecttowearand
stress.Differentmaterialsandmechanismswearorfatiguefromstressatdifferentratesandhave
differentlifecycles.Ifacomponent’slifecycleisexceeded,thecomponentcansuddenlyfail,causing
seriousinjury.
Whilethematerialsandworkmanshipofyourpaul&ernstbikeoroftheindividualcomponentsmaybe
coveredbyawarrantyforaspecifiedperiodoftimebythemanufacturer,thisisnoguaranteethatthe
productwilllastthetermofthewarranty.Productlifeisoftenrelatedtothekindofridingyoudoandto
thetreatmenttowhichyousubmitthevehicle.Thepaul&ernstbikewarrantyisnotmeanttosuggestthat
thevehiclecannotbebrokenorwilllastforever.Itonlymeansthattheproductiscoveredsubjecttothe
termsofthewarranty.
WARNING:Acrashorotherimpactcanputextraordinarystressonbicyclecomponents,causingthemto
fatigueprematurely.Componentssufferingfromstressfatiguecanfailsuddenlyandcatastrophically,
causinglossofcontroland/orseriousinjury.

accessorieswillbefreefromdefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipforaperiodofone(1)year.Please
note,thiswarrantyonlyextendstotheoriginalconsumerbuyer.Thiswarrantydoesnotcoverdefectsor
failuresduetoabuse,neglect,alteration,accidents,orwearandtearattributabletonormaluse.Defect
