6 Measuring procedure
Warning
The input terminal may carry dangerous voltage. The operator should read the manual carefully
before use and always keep his/her finders behind the ring guard when measuring.
6.1 DC Voltage Measurement (DCV)
•Switch the device to DCV range
•Insert the test leads as shown in the figure below
•Select the appropriate voltage in the function dial (6)
•Measure the voltage and read the result on the DC scale (11)

6.2 AC Voltage Measurement (ACV)
•Switch the device to ACV range
•Insert the test leads as shown in the figure below
•Select the appropriate voltage in the function dial (6)
•Measure the voltage and read the result on the AC scale (12)

6.3 Current Measurement (DC mA)
Warning
When the device is set to the current measurement range (DC mA), then DCV and ACV should
not be tested, as it can cause damage to the device.
•Switch the device to DC mA range
•Insert the test leads as shown in the figure below
•Measure the current and read the result on the DC mA scale (13)
If measuring 10A:
•Switch the device to DC 10A range
•Insert the red test lead into the red 10A input jack
•Measure the current and read the result on the DC mA scale (13)
6.4 Resistance measurement (Ω)
Warning
When measuring resistance, make sure that the power of the circuit under test is turned off and
all capacitors are powered off before testing. Otherwise there is danger of electric shock and
damage to the device.
•Switch the device to Ωrange
•Adjust the pointer manually to zero (4)
•Insert the test leads as shown in the figure below
•Press the Resistance Zero-Point test button (5) to check if the pointer is at zero
Note
If the pointer cannot stay at zero even after adjustment, then the batteries are low and need
replacement.
•Measure the resistance and read the result on the resistance scale (Ω) (9)
•Check the zero point after every reading and readjust if necessary

6.5 LED Measurement
•Switch the device to x10 on the resistance range (Ω)
•Insert the test leads as shown in the figure below
•Measure the current of the LED and read the result on the DC mA scale (13)
•LI reads the positive current. LV reads the positive voltage
6.6 Continuity Test
•Switch the device to /x1 Ωrange
•Adjust the pointer manually to zero (4)
•Insert the test leads as shown in the figure below
•Measure the resistance and read the result on the resistance scale (Ω) (9)
•If the resistance is below 100Ω the buzzer will sound

6.7 Audio Measurement (dB)
The measurement method is similar to the method for measuring ACV. If the circuit under test
includes a DC part, a DC-blocking capacitor with a capacity of 0.1uF and a withstand voltage
greater than 500 should be connected in series.
•Switch the device to 10V on the ACV range
•Measure the dB and read the result on the dB scale (14)
The dB scale shows dB levels from -10bD to ~22dB. For ranges exceeding the scale, the actual
dBV should be converted according to the table below.

7 Warranty
You can read our warranty terms in our General Business Terms which you can find here:
https://www.pce-instruments.com/english/terms.
8 Disposal
For the disposal of batteries in the EU, the 2006/66/EC directive of the European Parliament
applies. Due to the contained pollutants, batteries must not be disposed of as household waste.
They must be given to collection points designed for that purpose.
In order to comply with the EU directive 2012/19/EU we take our devices back. We either re-use
them or give them to a recycling company which disposes of the devices in line with law.
For countries outside the EU, batteries and devices should be disposed of in accordance with
your local waste regulations.
If you have any questions, please contact PCE Instruments.
