CONFIGURATION
After installation is complete, the TEC must be configured using
the UPStart Setup Software to set the location and event
schedules information. All programmed data is protected by non-
volatile memory and can only be changed or deleted by
reprogramming, regardless of power outage durations. A factory
installed lithium battery maintains accurate time and calendar
information for 10 years.
PCS has developed a Powerline Interface Module (PIM) and free
software (UPStart) to help you configure all of your PulseWorx
Lighting System devices. User’s Guides are available on the
PulseWorx page at www.pcslighting.com to explain how to
configure your system.

UPStart Configuration
Follow the steps described below to configure your TEC:
Step 1: Add the TEC to your UPB Network
Add the TEC to your UPB Network by selecting the
DeviceAdd menu item in the UPStart Setup Software.
UPStart will find your TEC and allow you to name it. UPStart
will also ask you to enter the Latitude, Longitude and Daylight
Saving Time information for your location.
Step 2: Specify an Event to Configure
Double-click the TEC icon to begin Timed Event configuration.
Select the “Events 1-10” tab (note: there can be a maximum of
20 configured events). Click the Add button.
Step 3: Specify a Link to Control
Select the Link tab and choose one link to be controlled.
Step 4: Specify the Event Days
Select the Date tab and choose one or more days for this
event to occur. This can be either a specific date or specified
days of the week.
Step 5: Specify the Event Time
Select the Time tab and enter the time of day this Event is to
occur. This can be specified as either an exact time or a time
relative to sunrise or sunset. Optionally, the event time can be
configured to randomly vary each time by a specified amount
of minutes.
Step 6: Specify Event Action
Select the Action tab and choose one command (Activate,
Deactivate, Go to 100%, or Go to 0%) to be transmitted when
the Event occurs.
Step 7: Specify a Suspend Link (optional)
An Event can be configured to be enabled (active) or disabled
(suspended) by a UPB Link command transmitted or received
by the TEC. This is useful for temporarily suspending an Event
from occurring or automatically activating the Event at a
specified time. To configure an Event to be controlled by a
Link, select the Suspend tab and specify the Link to control the
Event.
Step 8: Program the TEC
Once you have specified the Timed Event, press the Program
Device button to program the information into the TEC.
SETUP Mode
When configuring a UPB system, it will be necessary to place
the TEC in SETUP mode. To do this, press the Program Button
(see illustration) five times rapidly. The Status LED will
continuously blink Blue when the device is in SETUP mode. To
exit SETUP mode, press the Program Button twice more or wait
five minutes for it to time out.
OPERATION
Once installed and configured your TEC will operate on the stored
configuration settings without further user intervention. The TEC
will automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time (DST) and
changes in sunrise/sunset times.
Factory Default Settings
To restore the following default settings place the TEC into SETUP
mode and then press the Program Button ten times rapidly. The
Status LED will blink red to indicate that factory defaults have
been restored. Press the Program Button twice more to stop the
blinking.
