enclo ure i made from very high impact
injection-molded polypropylene in a
trapezoidal hape, with exten ive ribbing
and bracing, and the grille utilize perforated
metal protected by a high quality vinyl
coating proce , and ha an integral foam
inner layer for environmental protection.
The two-way y tem i compri ed of a
12" BWX Black Widow®woofer with a 4"
voice coil, and a water-re i tant treated
cone and du t cap for uperior
environmental tability. Capable of over
500 W of continuou power handling (AES
Std 2-1984), the woofer can handle a lot of
heer power. The high frequencie are
handled by an RX™22 2" titanium diaphragm
compre ion driver utilizing ferrofluid,
coupled to a 1" Quadratic Throat Geometry
Horn, molded integral to the cabinet. Thi
horn provide out tanding di per ion
coupled with a well-controlled pattern, and a
mooth, even re pon e.
Utilizing Quadratic Throat Horn
technology, under US Patent 6,059,069, the
horn ha lower di tortion than many popular
CD horn geometrie . The RX 22 driver
utilize the Radialinear Planar Pha e
Correction Sy tem, under US Patent
6,064,745, which provide moother and
extended high frequency re pon e.
Input connection to the y tem i made
via crew barrier terminal trip, one plu
crew and one minu crew connection, and
two 4-pin Neutrik®jack connected in
parallel are provided for ignal input and
dai y chaining capability. A 4-pin Neutrik
witching jack i provided for bi-amping
flexibility while maintaining uperior ignal
integrity.
The internal pa ive cro over feature
Sound Guard™III tweeter protection circuit,
an advanced topology cro over with high
performance component , to provide high
power handling and reliability. Peavey’
proprietary high-frequency driver protection
circuitry, Sound Guard, provide long and
medium-term driver overload protection
when the y tem i u ed full-range or when
it i bi-amped, without impairing mu ical
tran ient or dynamic . The cro over
provide driver roll-off and protection, a
well a driver EQ for the woofer and horn,
the um total i a cry tal clear and very
mooth re pon e. High-quality, reliable
cro over component include
polypropylene capacitor , and extremely
high current inductor and input connector .
The optimal integration of the cro over with
the elected driver re ult in a mooth
frequency re pon e from 76 Hz to 18 kHz.
De pite it compact dimen ion , thi
enclo ure can put out ome very eriou
ound level , and take 1000 Watt program
of clean amplifier power, re ulting in an
out tanding amount of clean coverage with
amazing clarity.

Frequency Response
Thi mea urement i u eful in
determining how accurately a given unit
reproduce an input ignal. The frequency
re pon e of the Quadra™12 i mea ured
at a di tance of 1-meter u ing a 1 Watt
(into the nominal impedance) wept- ine
input ignal. A hown in figure 1, the
elected driver in the Quadra 12 combine
to give a mooth frequency re pon e from
76 Hz to 18 kHz.
Directivity
Beamwidth i derived from the -6 dB
point from the polar plot ( ee figure 3)
which are mea ured in a whole pace
anechoic environment. Q and Directivity
Index are plotted for the on-axi
mea urement po ition. The e are
pecification that provide a reference to
the coverage characteri tic of the unit.
The e parameter provide in ight for
proper placement and in tallation in the
cho en environment. The blending of the
component of the Quadra 12 exhibit a
de irable beamwidth and directivity (figure
3 and 4) uitable for ound reinforcement
application .
Power Handling
There are many different approache
to power handling rating . Peavey rate
thi loud peaker y tem' power handling
u ing a full-range form of the AES
Standard 2-1984. U ing audio band 20 Hz
to 20 kHz pink noi e with peak of four
time the RMS level, thi trenuou te t
ignal a ure the u er that every portion
of thi y tem can with tand today' high
technology mu ic. Thi rating i contingent
upon having a minimum of 3 dB of
amplifier headroom available.
Harmonic Distortion
Second and third harmonic
di tortion v . frequency are plotted in
figure 5 and 6 for two power level , ten
percent (10%) of rated input power and
either one percent (1%) of rated input
power or one Watt, whichever i greater.
Di tortion i read from the graph a the
difference between the fundamental ignal
(frequency re pon e) and the de ired
harmonic. A an example, a di tortion
curve that i down 40 dB from the
fundamental i equivalent to 1% di tortion.
