What is the Pelactiv Ultrasonic
Machine and how does it work?
The Pelactiv Ultrasonic Machine is the perfect cutting edge technology to
introduce to clients wanting to achieve dramatic results with their skin.
This is an “infusion system” that works on ultrasonic frequency to ensure
maximmum penetration of active ingredients into the skin to treat specic
areas of skin concern.
The three unique Pelactiv serums are:
Treatment 1 - Firming
The rming treatment has been forumlated for clients who are concerned
with slackened skin tone and the ageing process.
This treatment may assist to provide the client with a more youthful look
diminishing the appearance of ne lines and wrinkles and enabling the
skin to appear instantly rmed and well hydrated.
Treatment 2 - Vitamin C+
The Vitamin C treatment is the perfect treatment for clients concerned
with dull lifeless skin, age spots, uneven skin tone and ageing.
This intense Vitamin C+ treatment will assist to improve the appearance
of skin texture, diminish the appearance of ne lines and wrinkles and
will assist the skin to achieve a brightened and overall more radiant
appearance.
Treatment 3 - Hydrating and Energizing
The Hydrating and Energizing treatment is the perfect treatment for those
clients wanting to improve skin hydration and reduce the appearance of
fatigued skin. This treatment concentrates on delivering a high

So what does the machine do?
Ultrasonic wave is referred to the wave of mechanical vibration with the
frequency of 20,000Hz above which cannot be heard by the human ear.
The ultrasonic wave possesses the chemical function of speeding up
metabolism and strengthening catalysis, meanwhile urges the tissue PH value
to change towards alkaline so it can refrain the swelling and pain caused by
the skin inammation. Ultrasonic wave can promote the permeability of cell
membrane, which is favorable for the drug to disperse and penetrate into the
bacteria then improve the ability of sterilization.
The 3 main functions of the ultrasonic machine:
(1) The Mechanical Effect
The ultrasonic wave has more power than other common waves as
it speeds up the movement of the cells. When applied to the body it
generates a certain massage-like effect expending energy to change
the cells.
The ultrasonic may assist to improve the partial blood and lymph
circulation, strengthen the permeability of cells, enhance the power of
metabolism and also help with regeneration of body tissues.
It is for this reason that the ultrasonic wave has a better effect than
mechanical massage.
(2) Warming Effect
The warming effect of the ultrasonic wave is described as inner-
generated warming.
79-82% of the total heat generated is transported by the self action of the
blood, while the remaining 18-21% is dispersed near body tissues via the
heat transfer.
The client has no obvious feeling other than a slight warming when the
ultrasonic wave is applied in the treatment process.
Under the same condition of continuous ultrasonic radiation (the panel
sign is ), the xation method can cause higher temperature rising than
the moving method. The heat effect generated by the pulse radiation is
much less (the panel sign is ) while it is in application.
The warming effect of ultrasonic effect can increase speed of clients blood
ow and cause change in the metabolism process. The Ultrasonic Wave
System also increases blood circulation, and relaxes the muscle ber.

(3) Chemical Effect
The biochemical effect is produced mainly by the polymerization and
decomposition reaction.
Polymerization reaction refers to a process of where molecules increase in size

process of protein compound found in the cells, it can also assist to repair
damaged tissue.
Decomposition reaction is a process in which the viscosity of larger
molecules is reduced, and the molecular weight decreased. The
temporary decrease of viscosity allows the active serums to be absorbed

A super active serum that has been specically formulated with Vitamin C,
Bearberry Extract, indigenous Kakadu Plum and Niacinimide. This silky smooth

Vitamin C -
Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate - is one of the most effective and popular
antioxidants available today. As an antioxidant it works to protect against
UV induced cell damage and lipid per oxidation, two of the strongest
contributors to the aging process. One of the most important actions of
Vitamin C is that it adds extra protection to the skin on a cellular level by
increasing the cell survival rate in the epidermis when exposed to UV rays.

Niacinimide -

Kakadu Plum -
Kakadu Plum is a native tree from Australia which is found exclusively in the
Northern Territory.
The Kakadu Plum fruit has the highest known Vitamin C concentration of any
single natural food source in the world. Indigenous Aborigines have used
this plant and its fruit extensively for food as well as for its traditional healing
properties. It is known to have ten times the amount of Vitamin C found in
other fruits, making it an excellent antioxidant.
Vitamin E -
High in anti oxidant properties which assist to protect against free radical

Bearberry Extract -
Bearberry extract is a natural highly effective plant based extract that
contains skin brightening properties. It may to help lighten dark spots,
improve the tone of the skin and even out pigmentation.

Pelactiv Firming Serum
A luxurious light weight serum that has been especially formulated with
the potent properties of Peptides, hydrating Hylauronic Acid and exotic
indigenous ingredients which may assist the skin to look and feel youthful and
hydrated.
Key ingredient features and benets:
Heptapeptide -
It has been known to mimic the action of Laminin-5, an important molecule
that is present in the dermal-epidermal junction and is responsible for
improving its function. Studies have indicated that Laminin-5 is necessary
for the health and appearance of the skin and is directly involved with skin
ageing. Clinical studies indicate that using Heptapeptide over a 21 day
period helps tonify the skin, improves its smoothness and helps regenerate
and renew the skin on a cellular level.
What else does it do ?
- It will enhance the integrity of the skin and improve its function through
the dermal-epidermal junction. The structure of this junction is one of
the rst places of the skin to be altered by ageing.
- Heptapeptide mimics the action of laminin-5, an important protein
present in the basement layer of the skin and responsible for improving
its function. The basement layer is where cellular communication,
cohesion and cellular regeneration occur.
- Heptapeptide also stimulates the synthesis of integrins and keratins
which are proteins produced in the epidermis and that are involved
in the barrier function of the skin. They are involved in cell to cell
adhesion, improving the skin barrier function and allow the skin to
appear rmer.
- Heptapeptide stimulates the biosynthesis and secretion of Laminin-5
and B1 integrins, which may assist in protecting the basement
membrane against damage caused by ageing and helps to improve
its structure and function.
- Heptapeptide increases the biosynthesis of collagen producing genes;
Collagen I and as part of the extracellular matrix, its main function is to
create resistance to mechanical tension and provide skin support.
- Heptapeptide also stimulates the biosynthesis of Fibronectin, which
is a glycoprotein that assists in the process of wound healing and is
involved in cell adhesion, cellular growth, migration and differentiation.

Niacinimide -
Niacinamide is one of the B group of vitamins that is essential for healthy
cell metabolism. Some studies have shown it to be an effective active for
evening out the skin tone as well as being useful in the management of
problem skin.
Nature Lift -
This skin lifting and tightening active is derived from the Corn Oak (Quercus
Suber) tree which is rich in Suberin. Suberin has been proven to improve
the appearance of skin texture by leaving it looking and feeling instantly
smoother and softer. This active works by forming a mesh on the surface of
the skin that is able to tighten and support the skin invisibly to make it appear
younger and revitalized.
Quandong Extract -
The desert Quandong tree is an Australian Native tree from the Sandalwood
family, which is found around waterless areas of all Australian States.
Quandong extract is high in V itamin C and essential fatty acids, which may
assist to nourish and nurture the skin.
Vitamin E -
High level anti oxidant properties which assist to protect against free radical
damage.

Pelactiv Hydrating & Energising Serum
An intense hydrating and energising formula with a velvety nish that has
been specically designed to assist the skin to appear instantly hydrated and
refreshed.
With the hydrating properties of Hyaluronic Acid, and the exotic cocktail of
antioxidants such as Green Coffee Seed Extract, Ginseng Siberian, Blueberry,

Hyaluronic Acid -
Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the body and generally decreases with

Green Coffee Seed Extract-
Green Coffee Seed assists to provide the skin with antioxidants helping to ght

Pre-Treatment Checklist
There are a few contra indications to using the Pelactiv Ultrasonic Serum
System; this is because every treatment we do needs a little extra thought so
that we can get the best results. The following are some situations that are to
be taken into consideration before we start.
Have you taken antibiotics for acne? Eg: Roaccutane?
- If yes, the skin will be very sensitive. The client will need to have been off the
antibiotics for a minimum of 3 months to allow the skin can normalise. If the
client has only taken a one-month course, a 6-week break is recommended
before commencing a treatment using the Pelactiv Ultrasonic Serum System.
Are you taking any painkillers? Eg: Panadol OR strong medication?
- Painkillers and certain forms of medications make the skin more sensitive or
stop the skin from feeling any sensations. This may cause the treatment to
be less predictable. Avoid performing a treatment using Pelactiv Ultrasonic
Serum System until you have received the OK from your clients GP.
Do you ever have cold sores?
- If yes, ask if they have had one in the last two weeks. Any treatment will
stimulate the circulation in the skin, which can activate the virus (Herpes
Simplex). If a cold sore develops delay all further treatments until the virus
has healed, usually 2-3 weeks. Do not perform a treatment is a client has an
active lesion as it may cause the virus to spread.
Have you had any waxing in the last 24 hours?
- The area will be hypersensitive so it must be avoided during the treatment.
Have you had electrolysis in the last 24 hours?
- If yes, the area will be sensitive. You may treat it but need to do so gently.
Have you been to a sauna, solarium or had a hot bath in the last 2 hours?
- The increase in circulation from heat can increase receptivity in the skin and
cause the treatment to be less predictable.
Have you exercised in the last 2 hours?
- Exercise will increase blood ow and therefore increase sensitivity. No
strenuous exercise should occur before a treatment. Advise against exercise
between 2-6 hours after treatment. Ask your client to stay cool and calm
after their treatment wherever possible.

Do you have any sensitive or problem areas?
Eg: Sore nose from a cold?
- If this is the case feel free to continue with your treatment but be aware to
avoid these types of areas as they will be extremely sensitive.
Have you used a facial scrub in the last 12 hours?
- Prior use of a scrub can lessen the skins tolerance to the Pelactiv System.
Men – have you shaved in the last two hours?
- The skin will be sensitive when it has just been shaved. Monitor the length of
time you treat that area, preferably treating it last.
Are you using any Retin A or Retinol Creams?
- Retin A and Retinol Creams exfoliate the skin. Retin A will make the skin very
sensitive and therefore the Ultrasonic Serum System will not be suitable as
irritation may occur.

After Care Checklist
It is essential that your clients take home a complementing home care
program to ensure ongoing benets of their treatment at home. The Pelactiv
Post-Peel Pack is a great way to get them started with all of the essential
treatment products. This pack contains the Pelactiv products that are
essential to use after a Pelactiv Ultrasonic Treatment to ensure optimum
results are continuing via the use of the homecare products. The Pelactiv
Post Peel Pack consists of four products:
Facial Rener Deep Cleansing Scrub
This gentle facial scrub dissolves dead skin cells and decongests pores to
leave the skin soft and smooth. Containing anti-bacterial and antiseptic
properties from Desert Fuchsia and Melaleuca Oils which aids in purifying the
skin. It is essential to recommend use of the scrub 2 or more times a week
after having a Pelactiv Ultrasonic Treatment to gently assist the removal of
dead skin cells. Renes the skin surface and open pores.
Cell Renew Complex
A powerful serum that delivers antioxidants and a unique combination of
Australian Native Plant Extracts to repair, renew, rejuvenate, strengthen and
smooth the skins appearance. An essential part of the post-peel program
to assist in the regeneration and rejuvenation of the fresh new skin cells. Use
morning and night prior to moisturiser.
Precious Oils
A rened blend of pure natural oils, this vitamin enriched skin tonic is used to
replenish and strengthen the skin which and is easily absorbed. A favourite of
all Pelactiv devotees, this product suits the most sensitive of skins. Use morning
and/or night to repair, calm, nourish and soothe the skin.
Skin Defence SPF 30+ Face Lotion
This product will provide the necessary protection from UVA and UVB rays. A
high performance SPF30+ broad spectrum advanced formulation containing
antioxidants and moisturising ingredients. Although the Pelactiv treatments
do not make the skin photosensitive, it is your obligation as a professional to
always ensure that your clients have an SPF 30+ Face Lotion to protect their
skin from the premature ageing effects of the sun.

After a treatment the client should
be advised to avoid the following:
No solarium for 24 hours afterwards.
- Avoid hot baths or showers for 2-6 hours afterwards.
Avoid exercise for 2-6 hours afterwards.
- Avoiding excessive perspiration or stimulating the circulation.
Avoid sun exposure.
- Pelactiv treatments do not make the skin sun sensitive, however, always
apply Pelactiv SPF30+ Face Lotion daily, remember that heat can cause the
skin to become irritated for the next 24 hours.
No facial waxing or electrolysis for 24 hours afterwards
- The Pelactiv Ultrasonic Serum System when used as a Skin Renewal
Treatment will remove the build-up of dead skin cells, which causes the skin
to become sensitive with waxing.
Avoid application of makeup for 3 hours afterwards.
- The skin will readily absorb anything applied after a treatment
Do you have any AHA products at home?
- Pelactiv home care maintenance products should be applied as normal.
Any glycolic products will cause irritation and can also cause inammation.

Pelactiv Ultrasonic Treatment procedure
1. Get to know your Client
Client to complete Client Prole on their rst Pelactiv Ultrasonic
treatment.
2. Prepare
Organise your Pelactiv Ultrasonic Machine to the correct setting for
your clients requirements depending on their skin type and desired
treatment.
3. Cleanse
Double cleanse the face, neck and décolletage with Pelactiv Gentle
Foaming Cleanser OR Pelactiv Hydrating Cream Cleanser. Remove
with sponges, brella wipes or towel.
4. Analyse Clients Skin Type and discuss skin concerns and desired results.
Complete Client Prole Card in every treatment. Discuss Clients skin
type concerns and needs and start Skin Renewal Treatment based on
skin type analysis.

5. Prepare the skin for treatment
Apply Prep Accelerator to face, neck and décolletage with cotton
pads. Tissue the skin until completely dry.
6. Skin Renewal Treatment.
Explain to Client that when the solution is applied to the skin they may
feel a slight tingling or prickling sensation.
Cover clients eyes with dampened cotton pads.
Monitor your start time for application.
Using application brush - apply a light coat of Pelactiv System 1-Blue
Solution and leave on for a maximum of 6 minutes.
Monitor client’s skin and comfort zone.
* NOTE: Only Pelactiv System 1-Blue can be used in conjunction with
the Pelactiv Ultrasonic Machine.
7. Remove the solution thoroughly with cool water and Pelactiv towel/
Fibrella wipes.
8. Balance

Cover client’s eyes and generously spritz Pelactiv Refreshing Treatment
Rinse over face, neck and décolletage.
9. Detoxify
Apply Pelactiv Facial Rener Deep Cleansing Scrub to the face and
massage the skin gently in a circular motion. Remove with sponges,
brella wipes or towel.
10. Activate
Begin procedure with Pelactiv Ultrasonic Machine. Be sure to ensure
no power cords are near a wet environment before beginning
treatment. Inform client that a sight warming sensation may be
experienced during contact with the handpiece which is a completely
normal response.
- Apply small line of serum moving from centre of chin to the ear.
Using face handpiece begin small upward circular movements
moving from chin to the ear. Repeat movement for 2min.
- Apply small line of serum moving from beside the nose across
the cheek to the ear. Using face handpiece begin small upward
circular movements moving from beside the nose across the cheek
to the ear. Repeat movement for 2min.
- Apply small line of serum moving from the centre of the forehead
to temple. Using face handpiece begin small upward circular
movements moving from the centre of the forehead to temple.
Repeat movement for 2min.
- Re apply a small amount of serum to the entire side of the face
to ensure the hand piece remains well lubricated. Using face
handpiece repeat small upward circular movements across all 3
sections of the face. Repeat movement for 2min.
- Re apply a small amount of serum to the entire side of the
face to ensure the handpiece remains well lubricated. Using
sweeping efeurage movements moving in an outward direction
slide handpiece across all 3 sections of the face smoothing and
soothing the skin. Repeat movement for 2min.
11. Repeat complete process on other side of the face
12. Nourish
Apply complementing Pelactiv mask to the entire face and leave
for 5 – 10mins.
13. Refresh
Dampen cotton ball or cotton pads generously with toner. Gently sweep
it across the face, neck and décolletage with upward, outward strokes.
14. Hydrate
Apply 3-4 drops of Pelactiv Cell Renewal Complex to the face, neck &
décolletage.
15. Moisturise
Apply Precious Oils to the face, neck & décolletage.

Finish by applying Pelactiv Skin Defense SPF 30+ Face Lotion for maximum
protection.
